I went to Sasquatch the first three years (2003, 2004, 2005) when it was just a one-day festival, but haven't been since. Saw a lot of great bands there: Postal Service, Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, Shins, Bloc Party, Arcade Fire, Neko Case, New Pornographers, AC Newman, The Dears, Decemberists, etc.

pretty sure i saw postal service, new pornographers and the decemberists all at one sasquatch back in the day, too .. that was amazing.

whoever is going be sure to say hi to japandroids for me. ;_;

Bob's Burgers Live was glorious

holy shit seriously.

But the standup by John Roberts was awful. He spent the entire time laughing about how horrible his standup was.

Eugene Mirman, on the other hand, was holyfuckingshit AMAZING

Good news everyone!

I just signed the lease to an apartment in Fremont yesterday!

I'll be moving from Kansas City in June, looking forward to getting to know Seattle-GAF.

Question: My landlord said that the building is only wired for Comcast internet. I really am not interested in cable at all, but obviously want home internet.

I've thought about getting one of those 4G home internet setups such as Clear.com

Does anyone have it, or know if it might actually work well? Going with clear.com is about $15 less a month than Comcast.

Go with Comcast in that case. I used them in Seattle for a couple years and while they're expensive for just-internet-and-nothing-else (ended at $65/month), they're also very fast. I think they also recently increased the speed at that price from 20 megabits to 40 megabits.

You'll be very frustrated with anything wireless-based, I'm guessing.

Like dlmn8r said, you're probably going to be happier in the long run with Comcast even though it's on the pricier side, imo. You can usuaolly get into a reduced rate for X months if you just call and ask; my service was knocked down to $39/mo for over a year.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm at Cafe Vita right now. I am still in the area tonight I might head over to the beer garden and check it out.

Kickpuncher and I are going to check out the pinball museum tonight. I'll report back on that later.

I want to check out the Wizard of Oz machine they have now, out of mere curiosity. However, seeing gameplay video and knowing the scoring system, I'm not going to like it. Already the theme sucks, strictly IMO. Soooooo yeah.

But you're gonna have a blast! That place used to be TINY....it's grown so much. :3

Well this happened. And it was awesome.

Hey guys, we're finally moving next month, but I'm having a hell of a time finding a decent place. The problem is that I need a cheap 3 bedroom place as close to Seattle as possible. 1300 or under. No farther north than Lynnwood, or farther south than Renton preferably.

Is this possible, or am I kind of shit out of luck?

White Center? Burien? Highline area around the airport?

I'm not sure if you're going to find that kind of deal anywhere within 30 miles of Seattle but if they exist, they'll be down south. The sacrifice is that traffic is dreadful commuting into Seattle (if that's what you have to do) and the neighborhoods can be really spotty (especially White Center).

Back in 2006 before buying our house, we rented a 3 bedroom duplex in Ballard for $1300. After we moved in September 2007, we found out the landlord increased the rent to $1700 a month.

Damn, that was a great deal you got for Ballard. Despite the recession, rent prices just keep rising.

What about up in the Lake City area or Shoreline?

Yeah, I have no clue what the average rent in North Seattle is any more, but I'm guessing it's continued to increase.

Shoreline here. One of my friends a few months ago rented a single room by herself and she told me it cost $500. She has since moved out but before she left, she told me that 500 seemed to be the average.

Beacon Hill, Rainier Valley/Columbia City might have a good value to it. CC is growing like crazy and is NOWHERE near as ghetto as it was when I was growing up down there. Great pubs and restaurants there now.

Columbia City is nice. I have some friends who live nearby in Seward Park.

We actually almost bought a house in Columbia City back in 2007, but the prices were identical to North Seattle, so we ended up in Greenlake.

IIRC, the Bus was looking for work for awhile and thinking about moving away because it hadn't been going well? Glad you get to stick around, dude, congrats!

Thanks, guys.

I was literally going to be out on the street without a new job by June; I'm still going to need to find a cheaper place to live, with my rent going up quite a bit soon, but this job is the most important thing for the immediate future.

She definitely is, and seemed sweet.

She's married.

All waitresses are 'married' for obvious reasons.

Anyhoo, anyone got any reccs for awesome Korean in or around Lynwood? Going to see Trek at cone barre and I want to get some Korean food.

On the way up there, you could go to Old Village on maybe about 157th and Aurora. I've had good times there. But I've never really left the place without needing someone else to do the driving...

Hey Seattle-Gaf, I just recently got a job in Seattle and will be moving up from Colorado in mid June. Any cities in particular that are pretty nice with average costs for rent? (700-900 /month)

I have a car, but would rather commute downtown via SoundTransit. I have seen some pretty decent apartments with good amenities in Kent- but I have heard a mixed bag on the town itself and the commute could be a bit long.

(Also if anyone knows any Denver Broncos bars in Seattle let me know!)

What size of an apartment?
You can find apartments in Seattle in that price range, no need to go to places like Kent.

Kent's a cesspool. Don't bother. I think you'd be better off checking out the North Seattle area.

I was looking 1 bed 1 bath. Sq. Ft. doesn't matter as much, but I would like a little space. And I want to be out of the city a little bit, I will look into N. Seattle a little and see some apartments around there.

Take a look at Greenlake, Ballard and Fremont. The latter two might be out of your price range. I'm not sure what rent goes for up there these days. I just suggest dodging the southern suburbs as much as possible. There's a lot of crime down there, among other things.
