not worth it

Absolutely worth it. I also really enjoyed the winter. But without some sort of dichotomy between the two, it's hard for either to feel special when you get it (like today).

One day of summer is worth 10 of the winter I was told before I moved, and it was certainly true for year number one up here.

I'm probably semi-certifiable, but the weather was one of the reasons I came to WA. I wanted to escape the heat. Humid, horrible heat where you can't even go out for a damn walk without getting drenched the second you step foot outside. You move from one air-conditioned box to another.
Yarp. Bio student here.
No shit? What's your class standing? Now I'll be paranoid about someone from GAF potentially being in one of my classes. Who knows how many of y'all are out there.

High Five!

In that missing persons thread about Adam, I was confronted (again) by the reality of how many people I know in real life, that are on GAF, that we don't know each other's GAF identities, but mine isn't particularly hard to figure out. Kinda unsettling.

polyplatymus i would never stalk you.

Things aren't that boring. Well, if you're a youngin' living it up on Capitol Hill or down in Allen Town then yes, my life is probably really boring.

Hitting up the Pine Box next Thursday for their 2nd anniversary party.

how do your calves feel distantmantra

Good. For now.

I only ran five miles, I'd probably be sore if I pushed harder.

I would never want to live in most of those places listed and the only place on that list I haven't been is Illinois. Well I might live in Colorado but that is about it.

It's kind of crazy how large GAF is and how diverse its members are. With every news item or event posted, there seems to be a handful of GAFers involved or related to it in some capacity. Take the Malaysian plane disaster thread. We have people who know some of the victims, directly or indirectly, and we even have the son of the guy heading the search for the wreckage posting in there.

It's a small world.

I'm seeing a specialist. Weirdly, even though I've been to LA at least a dozen times, I'm not very versed in what there is to do there, aside from sitting in traffic. ;)

Starting to appreciate my move to Fremont/Wallingford more after a beautiful AM run around Green Lake. So nice with an actual sunrise this morning instead of clouds :)

Cap Hill was way too hilly for fun/comfortable runs.
oh boy. I better not move to cap hill. That sounds horrid. Reminds me of negley in Pittsburgh.

Geez does anyone else see endless incessant CenturyLink ads on GAF? The last time I was at their site was months ago when exploring options for the new house.

Nope. I'm seeing EA Origin ads since I had to finagle through the website about a dozen times this morning due to broken password... :p

Hey all, I have a couple friends from eastward coming to visit in a couple weeks. One of them has never seen an ocean so I was thinking about taking a day trip to accomplish that. Are there any particularly cool spots anyone would recommend we aim for that aren't too far out from the city?

Thanks!

Maybe Westport or Ocean Shores?

The Oregon coast is much prettier, but a longer drive.

Hey guys, trying to be more active on the boards and my home town thread is probably one of the better places to start. I live in Federal Way, but next week my girlfriend is coming over the mountains to spend the weekend in Seattle with me. It's up to me to come up with part of the itinerary, anyone have any sweet romantic spots that may surprise her?

This small park in Capitol Hill:

https://maps.google.com/?ll=47.6343...:m,14742972517423314162,47.634977,-122.312218

It has an incredible panoramic view of Lake Washington, UW, and Kirkland across the lake.

Right after, you can walk around the corner to Volunteer Park Cafe:

Dinner at Joule.

Chateau Ste Michelle is nice, but one of their employees was kind of a dick when we were in there.

If you want to go out to Whidbey Island, I had a pretty positive experience at http://www.whidbeyislandwinery.com/, but they don't seem to have quite the set up for visitors as Ste Michelle (since they don't host concerts and what not).

Hmm, good to know, thanks! I think we might just head up to Woodinville (thanks coldvein :]) since I live in Kirkland and that's close by. I'm currently not very mobile (having surgery, hence why my mom's coming to visit) so I'll probably save Whidbey for a time when I can enjoy it more.

Also, seconding the recommendation of going to Volunteer Park, especially if it's nice out. What an absolutely beautiful place. Running through there on a sunny day was one of the highlights of living in Capitol Hill.

As I heard on the radio both people on the helicopter were killed and a 37 year old guy in one of the cars is in critical with burns on 50% of his body. The helicopter apparently had the pilot and a KOMO photographer on board.
