This guy gets it, but expect a warzone 2.0 at some point also not on playstation. No they mean on-going service games will remain. So Warzone will continue. But like Starfield and TESVI, new games will be exclusive to Xbox/PC.

Then they need to announce asap that it’s how they plan to do it, I’ve seen lots of ps gamers going ”phew!” after that tweet.Yea they're not taking away Warzone.
There's no community for the 2024 CoD.
Thats stupid. They need to rip apart every contract and pay the fine. Doubt it is in the billions.
You dont buy an $70 billion company and start publishing games on that platform just because of some deal. Fuck that deal. This year's CoD NEEDS to be exclusive to Xbox or they wouldve delayed the migration to xbox by a full year. This is the time to strike anyway. What happens if the shortage is over and sony ends up selling another 15 million consoles between january and november? they are already around 20 million. Why let them go up to 35 million in just two years when you have spent $70 billion to ensure they dont sell more consoles?
Turn off all Warzone servers asap. That shouldve been in the purchase contract tbh. The day you sign the deal, warzone becomes unavailable on consoles. Go and buy a series s thats in stores today if you want to continue playing warzone. Warzone is WAY bigger than yearly cod anyway. Way more players and it makes something crazy like $5 million a day. Thats $2 billion a year. You need to sell 30 million copies at $70 to get to that number.
The deal wont be finalized for another year and a half. The gen would be half gone by then. The first 3 years are the most important. Sony might already be at 50 million by the end of 2023 and have all the hardcore high paying customers in their eco system already. Even if they switch then, it's too late.
I will be honest I hope it does go Xbox exclusive and hits gamepass because when I do play COD it’s on Xbox with cross play off and I would love to see a larger player pool.Warzone yes, but new games? They might be xbox exclusive.
Its the same debate as Bethesda games, which is more profitable to them? The new gamepass subs, xbox game + hardware sales COD exclusivity will being or money they will make from PS sales?
The things is by making it xbox exclusive they will be increasing the xbox installbase, by putting it on ps5 increases the ps5 userbase.
So naking it xbox exclusive has larger positive knock on effects to xbox as a whole.
Cod is that big that it has a significant impact on a platforms success.
one flew over the cuckoo's nest day today huhThats stupid. They need to rip apart every contract and pay the fine. Doubt it is in the billions.

Show me what MS game has lost a chucnk of its userbase. Where are the statistics to support this statement?History has shown that doesn't work with MS
The IP just losses a big chunk Which is usually the majority of its userbase
Hopefully MS has learnt from it's mistakes.
clearly you wouldn't have.
They could simply delay the games to after 2023 and keep them exclusive to their platforms. It just depends on what their end goal is — we're really all guessing here based on events in the past and what we expect they will do. The thinking "they will keep it exclusive" makes sense given how the industry has run so far — but will they do something completely different? No idea. Game Pass being a focus kinda makes it seem pretty straight-forward but do we know for sure what their end goal is?So warzone supported forever.
Annual cods until at least 2023. So that's Modern Warfare 2, and black ops cold 2 war covered. The next years cod won't be big but the year after will be modern Warfare 3 and then cold war 3.
Anything stopping sony from doing a cheeky 10 year cod deal with Activision before next year's take over?
It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon, yadayadayadaThats stupid. They need to rip apart every contract and pay the fine. Doubt it is in the billions.

Well we know if sony allowed gamepass they would get all xbox games so maybe MS is hoping to corner them into allowing it.They could simply delay the games to after 2023 and keep them exclusive to their platforms. Sooner ya'll realise MS aint giving you shit thats not in an existing contract the sooner we can all move on. MS really don't give a fuck about a few hundred million $$ in sales. They just spent $70 big ones they need a hell of a lot more than Playstation dollars for a decent ROI.
OK but how many were providing big console sellers? I think COD is the big one if it were to go Xbox exclusive. I am thinking in the vein of "system seller."As for what games will be missed, I fully expect Activision's studios to start making a more diverse set of titles in addition to Call of Duty. There are over 60+ teams collectively now in all of Microsoft's First Party studios. Blizzard alone is 9 studios, but is considered as just one in this purchase.
Another thing that may happen is gamepass ultimate subscribers will get battle passes included.
Really, after investing $70b they don't care about hundreds of millions in lost sales?
You have allowed console fanboyism to cloud your judgement and you should be ashamed of yourself for writing such foolish nonsense of a comment.
A few hundred million in sales is not the end game here, like at all. Sony already took a $25 billion hit to the share price on the news, you think that happens if its going to be buisness as usual?Really, after investing $70b they don't care about hundreds of millions in lost sales?

They will likely put COD on Gamepass but much like Minecraft I doubt Xbox pulls it from PS, too many buyers
Have you read what you’ve written? They're in the middle of a four-year deal. So not until that expires in 2023 and by then the deal will be closed.
GamePass has 25 million subs right now. By the time it's GamePass exclusive they'll be at around 40 million subs. That's a big player base.
It wont be 70%. PS owners will migrate to the xbox so MS will recoup some of that lost revenue.I think it is already too late for that with nearly 20 million PS5s and counting, not to mention the 100m+ PS4s; assuming a 2022 COD comes out, it would most definitely be cross-gen. That is A LOT of money even for Microsoft to pass up.
"But but you don't spend $70 billion to not make COD exclusive". Sure, but you also don't spend $70b to lose over 70% of your COD revenue either. Both companies will need to negotiate and make concessions.
We all have to remember that this basically came out of the blue. Microsoft capitalized on the public turmoil at Activision and scooped them up. If they had any intentions of purchasing Activision prior to the misconduct reports they would have done so prior to the new console generation launch. Unfortunately for them, the timing makes it difficult in deciding how to deal with Sony and the PS base. You can't ask for PS4/PS5 players to purchase another console, especially during a shortage crisis. The best they can do is renegotiate licensing fees. I'm sure that will be an epic battle because, in terms of COD, both Sony and Microsoft equally depend on each other in the short-term.
He did the same with Bethesda.Phil needs to stop trying to be mr nice guy. He always make these things unnecessary vague.
I mean, his tweet:
"I’ll just say to players out there who are playing Activision Blizzard games on Sony’s platform: It’s not our intent to pull communities away from that platform and we remained committed to that."
Should’ve been like this:
"I’ll just say to players out there who are playing [existing] Activision Blizzard games on Sony’s platform: It’s not our intent to pull [existing] communities away from that platform and we remained committed to that. [New games will be exclusive to Xbox and PC.]”
If that’s the plan, because I still know for sure going by their wording.
It’s frustrating to see how much they mess up on this. This talk will keep going all the way until they announce the next big Call of Duty, and possibly for Diablo and every new game they’re making.
They can't say anything like that until the deal goes through, they don't own shit yet and won't say anything that will hurt Activision or scupper the deal.Phil needs to stop trying to be mr nice guy. He always make these things unnecessary vague.

I find really amusing that y’all believe people will really migrate from one console to the other leaving their digital libraries behind. This is the worst gen to do that.It wont be 70%. PS owners will migrate to the xbox so MS will recoup some of that lost revenue.
Yes, they will lose money at first, but they just spent $70 billion. They can lose a couple of billion more and then earn it all back when the chip shortage ends.
By the time it becomes exclusive they won't need to buy a different console, it'll be on every TV or they can just buy the dongle. And alot of prospective console purchasers will be factoring COD exclusivity into their future console purchase.
Next every COD player will jump ship, but a lot will.
The ppl that only play Cod/Nba/Fifa drop the old game the second the new one cones out. They won't care.I find really amusing that y’all believe people will really migrate from one console to the other leaving their digital libraries behind. This is the worst gen to do that.
I find really amusing that y’all believe people will really migrate from one console to the other leaving their digital libraries behind. This is the worst gen to do that.
Nope. ALL IPs will be exclusive to xbox. You buy yours yet?!As expected, only new IPs will be exclusive to Xbox/Windows
I'd say it will but it'll be the lastDo we have reason to believe that CoD 2023 will come to Playstation? The deal is supposed to be finalized in Microsoft's fiscal year 2023 which ends in june.
Most people don't have massive digital libaries on console, yet.I find really amusing that y’all believe people will really migrate from one console to the other leaving their digital libraries behind. This is the worst gen to do that.
NBA and fifa are multiplat, warzone is eternal. I really don’t see that happening. The ppl that only play Cod/Nba/Fifa drop the old game the second the new one cones out. They won't care.
So when would be the best time to jump? At the end of this generation after you've spent another 7 years building your digital library?NBA and fifa are multiplat, warzone is eternal. I really don’t see that happening.
Did anyone ever expect Housemarque or Insomniac to keep making games for PC?They can't say anything like that until the deal goes through, they don't own shit yet and won't say anything that will hurt Activision or scupper the deal.
Warzone is eternal. So when would be the best time to jump? At the end of this generation after you've spent another 7 years building your digital library?
Or just never play CoD again?
Why didn't they take the crown over a decade ago? Who has the crown on switch since there is no cod? You say it like it's so easy. Nah, a large chunk of those ppl will buy an XboxYou'd have to be kidding yourself if you thought Devs and publishers aren't in discussions right now to take that crown.
Warzone is not CoD. It's the BR version of CoD.Warzone is eternal.
The PlayStation COD userbase will move onto Xbox.EA must be ecstatic about that since the PlayStation COD userbase will likely move onto Battlefield. Unless a new competitor arrives.
Does anyone really expect MS to release Bethesda games or Activision games on the competions box if they don't have to? Not anyone with any sense.Did anyone ever expect Housemarque or Insomniac to keep making games for PC?
No. Because Sony didn’t try to soften the blow everybody knew was coming by vague tweets. MS is honestly crap at this. They leave people guessing and as a result the needle isn’t moving as much as what they’re paying. I literally wrote in this thread minutes ago that it’s not clear that TESVI is exclusive to Xbox and PC. And got somewhat corrected on that, with another vague message from Phil. And the Bethesda deal is closed.
It is true though. Have you not paid attention? Remember all those xbox people who left xbox behind with the Xbox One and bought a ps4 instead? A lot of those people will be coming back, along with some ton of ps only ppl. Cod is too important to these peopleI find really amusing that y’all believe people will really migrate from one console to the other leaving their digital libraries behind. This is the worst gen to do that.
There's still plenty of them around here.Does anyone really expect MS to release Bethesda games or Activision games on the competions box if they don't have to? Not anyone with any sense.
IF it's not clear to you that TESVI isn't coming to playstation then i don't know what to say. Starfield isn't that should tell you all you need to know.
Phil with his usual Mr Nice guy bullshit. The guy can't give a straight answer. He always talks in double speech. Until he announces it AB games are exclusive to Xbox except for whatever is contractually already agreed.Phil INTENT is not to pull games away from PS. The INTENT is to prepare for the meta verse and build up game pass. However pulling games away from PS will happen but is not their INTENT.![]()
The chip shortage is expected to endure throughout most of 2022. If gamers who want a new Xbox right now are struggling to obtain one, what makes you think it would be any easier for these supposed PS owners you claim would be wanting to transition to Xbox?It wont be 70%. PS owners will migrate to the xbox so MS will recoup some of that lost revenue.
Yes, they will lose money at first, but they just spent $70 billion. They can lose a couple of billion more and then earn it all back when the chip shortage ends.

Console fanboyism good one. I have zero skin in this game, well apart from the fact MS just saved me $70 dollars a year for COD. I'm 49 years old, have owned, and do own all platforms. I'm just saying how it is.
He sure did and that was just as bad.He did the same with Bethesda.
When I read that first community quote yesterday I just assumed to pull a community away from something it has to exist, for something to exist it has to be released? Isn't community just a fancier way to say user base? The new quote this thread is about just seems to totally clear that up right?Phil needs to stop trying to be mr nice guy. He always make these things unnecessary vague.

They just payed $70B to lure Playstation gamers over to Xbox but PS gamers are still going:
Same boat.It honestly doesnt matter to me I game everywhere.
We shall see I guess
I’m just reading what is said, I shouldn’t have to think even for a second what this means, it’s their job to do the PR right and give a clear message to gamers and they’re failing at that. Go look at any forum or Twitter or youtube news video out there and this discussion is going on everywhere, and you’ll see that there are PS gamers posting that CoD will keep on coming to PS.Does anyone really expect MS to release Bethesda games or Activision games on the competions box if they don't have to? Not anyone with any sense.
IF it's not clear to you that TESVI isn't coming to playstation then i don't know what to say. Starfield isn't that should tell you all you need to know.
For the 70 billionth time, MS isn't playing nice here, if it doesnt drive people to game pass and the xbox eco system then they won't be doing it. Release things on Playstation does not achieve that, It's not rocket science.
