Seems like most third-party developers will not support Switch 2

True, but Cyberpunk and Elden Ring coming to Switch 2 seems more because of Nintendo's initiative to reach out to those developers, over them deciding by themselves to port those games over to Switch 2 with no influence from Nintendo. The same way the Skyrim port to the original Switch happened. Those kind of Nintendo influenced launch games won't show the general trend though, after Skyrim few of those kind of games came to Switch, probably will be the same with Elden Ring and Cyberpunk on Switch 2.
If they can get the games to run on the Switch 2 without too much effort, then I think they will. Even if the games don't sell gangbusters on the Switch 2, it's still extra money. They still release games on the Xbox after all. There are also games that have done quite well on the Switch, like Hogwarts, so I think there is a good chance of more third party games coming.

No dude, your analysis is like someone who is stuck with the Wii generation would say, I tried to point out with a very recent and basic example. There are more 18+ uncensored games on the Switch than on PS for reference, so much for being for families.
Generally, third party games on Nintendo ecosystem will be the likes of Fantasy Life and Tamagotchi Plaza, casual, cosy type games. While most games catering to core gamers won't come to Nintendo platforms.

Dude did you see the games on the Switch ? Were were you the last 8 years ?

Switch 2 for now is going to receive ps4/xbox ports, crossgen games and a few less demanding or downgradade current gen game... as we approach the endgen in 27/28 going into the next, welp.

Nintendo systems are for Nintendo games anyway, anyone who wants full third party support should have a PC or a PS5/XboxX

To be honest I agree. Yesterday it felt weird to watch so many announcements without a Switch 2 logo. And it's happening at a time, when people are grabbing the console like zombies!

I counted two coming games announced with Switch 2 logos at Summer games fest:

1: Sonic racing.
2: 007.

That's pretty terrible for any new console, but seems par for the course for a new Nintendo console.

The thing is that how steange it sounds, a lot of devs didnt have a devkit yet. It wasnt even available on request. It was about nintendo needed to contact you instead. This could now be changed with the launch. The point is, even if 3th party did want todo that they could not yet

I personally don't expect a different situation than with Switch 1 for big games. As games become largely PS5/Series exclusive and fully use the consoles, Switch 2 ports will probably be quite compromised, especially because these consoles have a much better CPU. So this is going to be "blurry 30fps" territory or the game will simply skip the console. That's what I expect anyway for the more ambitious games.

Every third party game is going to look like shit on the switch 2 so why bother buying it on that platform anyway 'cyberpunk having no NPC's'? Buy it on the series x, or ps5 if you got one and skip the switch 2 for anything third party wise.
You mean like cyberpunk and final fantasy that looks almost identical?

Why buying it for ps5, while you can play it portable. Not only that, it support mouse on the go. I honestly think ps5 is going to be obselete for most games. Almost no one is going to give a f* about those minor difference. This isnt the switch 1 area

I think the problem is that most of us expected AAA games like MH Wilds and RE9 to fully skip Switch 2, but the fact that the Switch 2 doesn't even get games like Code Vein, Digimon, Persona 4 remake etc is a very bad sign, because those kind of mid tier stuff skipping the Switch 2 means that third party support for Switch 2 will mostly be Fantasy Life style chibi games.

It's pretty disappointing so far. Though we can assume that Microsoft will port everything they can to Switch. So considering they haven't announced anything yet, it is possible that it will take some time before other pubs announce their ports too.

I think it seems that Microsoft multiplatform pivot is almost fully about porting their games to PS, the Switch 2 is not something they care much about. I would only expect a few things like CoD to come to Switch 2 due to them signing a binding agreement with Nintendo to port CoD to Switch.

Definitely surprised by the lack of announcements so far.

I'll be curious about the Microsoft showcase. Like I presume COD is at least coming because of the agreement. Doom: The Dark Ages seems like another one that you would guess would come? Presumably any remasters they announce could possibly....

Missing PlayStation 1 is not a flex

Didn't mean for it to be a flex but ok lol. I just never had a ps1 growing up and i didn't get into playstation until the ps2 came out and even then the gamecube was my main platform at that time. The ps2 was my bros and he was much more into it than i was until i started to playing it more and more as i got older and appreciated it more.

FF and CP have PS4 versions. Most current gen games don't.

The PS4 couldn't run the Phantom Liberty DLC according to CDPR themselves but it runs on Switch 2. FF:VII Rebirth isn't on PS4 but they are bringing it to Switch 2.

Again, when the Switch released, it didn't have this huge amount of 3rd party support. The biggest 3rd party game it had at launch was Skyrim. People seem to not be thinking about the fact that the games announced at SGF were in development before these devs had Switch 2 dev kits.

Can we please give it time before jumping to conclusions?

The funny thing is that Japanese third parties are going out of their way to port everything to Xbox, and Switch 2 outsold Xbox lifetime sales in Japan day 1 on the market. Imagine how little support Switch 2 would get if it sold 30 million consoles after 5 years on the market like Xbox has done.

Switch 2 is closer in storage speed and memory amount to current gen (vs. last gen), this allowed phantom liberty to be ported without much cut backs.

FF Rebirth looks bad for a current gen game but it's still CPU and GPU heavy, there will be cut backs in S2 version but how severe? We will see...

I always thought that making ports for S2 will be easier for developers compared to making them for S1 last gen and I think this is true.

For whom will those games be made for? This is a question that needs to be answered. Any gamer with half a brain who might own the Switch 2, will have it as a secondary system, never the main one. The main system, be it pc, ps5 or the X, will have access to all third party. If that's the case, why the fuck would you waste your money on a third party title that will run like garbage, look like garbage, might cost $10 more, and if you play the game on portable mode, you know, the reason to buy a Switch 2, it'll drain the batteries in like what? 1-2h? It's a complete waste.
Your mind reminds me of those really early VR glasses with extremely narrow fields of view.

Every game looking like shit is hyperbole, as not every game pushes graphics, but your overall sentiment is true. Most people interested heavily in third party games will be playing those elsewhere anyways.

As always companies will do the barebones port for some time till Switch 2 starts lagging behind. At the end everybody knows the only one making money from Switch 2 is Nintendo.

I remember people saying the wii u would get proper 3rd party support too. Nintendo always do this. At the start they'll make you think they're gonna get tons of 3rd party support by getting ports of years old games but how many new 3rd party games will actually show up on Switch 2? Once again, most will be a no show. Anyone thinking otherwise is being delusional.

I can't wait to play Resident Evil 9 and Onimusha on Switch 2. Those are coming, right?

Did any of the games shown at SGF even get announced for switch 2? I don't remember seeing the switch 2 logo even once. Its only old ports that play better elsewhere anyway. Switch 2 is useless for 3rd party games.

If we searched, we could probably find a similar thread from 2017. It's unlikely for third party games to make fiscal sense right out of the gates. As the platform scales in terms of users, we'll see the support come, particularly if it scales like Switch 1.

Nintendo had a lot of supply, which was great to see. It will be interesting to see how demand holds up over the next several months now that folks have their hands on the device. I'm waiting and see at this point. On one hand, it's the only place to play new Nintendo games and I've been playing Nintendo since the 80s (old guy, here). On the other hand, I've been drifting back to PC gaming over the past couple years and at home can't imagine playing the Switch 2 over my PC. I have a ROG Ally for travel but, honestly, the interface is so damn bad and Windows on a handheld device sucks so hard that it just sits idle. I do travel a lot, so I suspect that will push me move the edge.

I digress. No sense in worrying about third party support right now. It'll come if the platform scales successfully like the prior generation.

I can't lie I noticed the same.
I was kind of hoping to get some third party games add the little switch 2 logo l, there were more switch one logos.

You mean developers releasing games for PS5 and high end PC's won't release that game on the "new" console with hardware specs from like 10 years ago?

Outrageous.

Nope. It's because of that I made this thread. People think that Cyberpunk port on Switch 2 means something, but it's just CD Projekt doing same thing they have made with Witcher 3 and Switch.

Most third-party AAA games will not coming to Switch 2, and if they coming, will be in the form of late ports.

I agree. I'm actually wondering why anyone would think otherwise? This is how it always is with Nintendo platforms. People think a few old ports mean that Switch 2 will get a good portion of new games? It's not happening.

Come on guys, we know how this works:

Third party Switch 2 games will be announced at Nintendo Directs, even if the same games are announced for other platforms elsewhere. This is an arrangement that benefits both Nintendo, because they get more content for their presentations, and third parties, because they get to double dip on announcement hype. It's mildly annoying from a consumer perspective, but it's lucrative from a business perspective, so it is what it is.

Also, for at least the first year or so of the Switch 2's life, the vast majority of third party games are going to arrive on the system late. I'd be shocked if Resident Evil 9, for example, shows up day and date, when developers are still learning the hardware and when they have 2 mainline RE games and 3 remakes that they can port to the system first.

Not impossible that Nintendo did not want their games or third parties offerings compared to bleeding edge PC & PS5/Xbox games.
Keeping them for their own gated presentations.

If Cyberpunk doesn't mean anything, what about Split Fiction, Star Wars Outlaws or Borderlands 4 ? Or FF7 Remake Integrade which will be probably followed up with Rebirth ?
