all i need to know about life, i learned from sonic

I'm currently selling my Mega Modem, which will be featured in an upcoming episode of Generation16.

gorgeous, should fetch a high price too...good luck man! also can't wait for the next ep, any updates?

Just got...

Turrican
Desert Strike
Mega Swiv
Quackshot
Altered Beast
Golden Axe

all boxed with instructions for £50.50 delivered, not bad for an evening on ebay considering Turrican usually goes for around £28 usually on its own.

you done good, man! don't know Swiv though

I just received this email from Watermelon:

yeah, me too...don't panic if you didn't get it; it exists in a quantum state, just like the game

Ugh, I totally forgot my Hyperstone Heist had a BB sticker on the label that ripped off a strip along the top. Always meant to replace it and put it off, and now it's expensive.

Box and manual are mint, though.

Ugh.

think mine should be good if you wanna just switch, man

I was chugging along on the edit, but then I discovered something that lead to me throwing out a whole section of the script, capturing some more footage and rewriting the segment.

It's about 1/3 done right now. I'm pushing to get it done next week.

Even the auction photography has gotten an upgrade!
That is one mint condition modem, by the way. Tempting... How else would I get to Tel-Tel Mahjong, otherwise?

I haven't been posting here for a while, but always reading. It's time to start catching up!
One interesting development: I've picked up a brand new Model 1 Mega CD. A miracle of archeological backstock, the box was in pretty horrendous shape yet the contents still remained safe and protected inside. It works great, which I halfway didn't really expect it to, and I've started building up a Mega CD library!

I'm playing Shinobi III for the first time. Not on original hardware, but M2's fantastic 3D version on the 3DS.

Why did I miss this game back in the day? It's awesome.

You actually missed this awesome game back in the day??? How???=O

My rental place probably didn't have it. That's how I played most of the Genesis library. Most of my friends were SNES stans, so no trading or borrowing. I had both systems, but had more access to the SNES library due to trading, borrowing, lending.

Funny enough it was opposite for me, I played more Genesis games than SNES ones and then eventually got a SNES later to play many games on it.

Weirdly enough, I never saw any of the "Genesis Does what Nintedon't" commercials or advertisements growing up. I think they must have been phased out by 91 when the SNES came out.

I don't think we even had them here. I remember playing Alien Storm as a kid and seeing "Genesis Does!" written in the background when the scores are tallied but had no idea what it meant until a few years go. I knew the Mega Drive was called the Genesis in North America but the phrase meant nothing to me at the time, lol.

Found Out of This World and Lightening Force both CIB at a local place. I love OotW on every system and I've always wanted to try Thunder Force IV. Can't wait to get home =]

Out of This World on the Genesis has significantly worse music and sound (sound effects especially) but on the plus side there is no slow down unlike the SNES version. The slowdown really hurts the SNES version and makes certain segments just cheap.

Good pick ups. My Lightening Force has a messed up box art/manual that I've been trying to replace forever.

Yeah, the Genesis Does ads were more Genesis vs. NES in 1989 and 1990. I think it was mostly to combat the popularity of Mike Tyson's Punch Out with other celebrity-endorsed sports titles. Once the SNES came out, they turned to the Mario vs. Sonic Blast Processing ads.

Yeah, I've played it on SNES, Sega CD, PC and Vita as well, lol. It's one of my favorite games ever. I wish I'd jumped on the Jaguar port back in the day =[

Wait whats going on here? Does this actually happen in Outrun at some point?

The F-14 jet from After Burner and the space ship from Galaxy Force make flyover cameos in OutRun (MD / Genesis) if your time is good enough.

For a long time the Genesis version, ported by Hertz, was the best port of OutRun. The system still isn't powerful enough to handle scaling, but it definitely looks much nicer than any previous version. It also has an exclusive fourth selectable song called "Step on Beat". There's an extra ending screen, as well as cameos from the After Burner and Galaxy Force ships, if you manage to meet certain conditions.

Could anyone here use a disc-only copy of Shining Force CD? It's an ex-rental but in good condition. I'm playing it right now and it works fine.

Send me a PM and we'll work something out.

So, i moved to Pittsburgh, and i'm currently living with my boss, who runs an online repro and general video game stuff store. So, i'm living in his game room right now, and he is as big of a Sega nerd as i am, maybe more.

He has so many prototype boards, i can't even handle it. I've touched the Itchy and Scratchy game. The real thing. Something about this just kind of blows my mind. Its like a museum, and its wonderful.

Hello Sega fans. I would like to buy this http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/9063330.htm
and have a question to you.
What do you think about this device? I read few different opinions. One of them are positive and the others negative. If I'll buy it, physical SMD games work fine with this console? Anyone of you tried this stuff? And one more question. How I can save gaming progress on SMD? Is it possible? Memory card or only some kind of level codes?

It's a system-on-a-chip, sort-of hardware emulation. The sound is usually terrible, the reviews say the controllers are equally crap. I doubt you'd get anything other than Composite out of it. Of course none of the addons work with it, neither do Virtua Racing or SSF2. You can only save progress if the game allows you to, and the save file is stored within the cartridge itself. None of the included games support this feature.

If you want to use your own cartridges, you're much better off getting the original console. It would also most certainly cost you less. If you are inconvenienced by switching cartridges, you can get an Everdrive.

The review confuses me:
I purchased this product to allow me to use my old cartridges more easily with a modern TV (as they're not keen on analogous input) so the scart connection was the key draw.
