Wow the SNES version is better?!
Doesn't sound like an optimized port at all.
The SNES version isn't better. The 32X version has an exclusive level and a 32X-exclusive graphical overhaul. The PC/SNES version looks different, and probably not as good, as the 32X one. It is different though, so some people like the original look more, some the 32X, but which is better is a matter of opinion.
As for the controls, it's equally good if you have a 6-button controller.
maaan, that's unfair - Knuckles is cool, it just feels kinda barren/tech-demo-y
The levels are insanely empty and that makes the game boring, but yeah, it's not awful or something, just boring. The gameplay is okay though, and those bonus stages are great, so while Knuckles Chaotix is disappointing, it is an alright game overall.
Kolibri is neat, Space Harrier/etc was the best port until the (now expensive) Saturn ones
Space Harrier 32X is awesome no matter how many other platforms you have it for!
DOOM, Shadow Squadron etc - there's stuff to play, i just wouldn't pay a high price for it. fortunately i got mine for free, you can still (i wanna say) commonly buy em on the cheap when people list em as not working, clean the cables & be good to go, just need a trio power adapter & some cables
Yeah, the 32X is something to get when you find one cheap. It's got a few pretty good games, such as Shadow Squadron, Virtua Racing Deluxe (with 2 32X-exclusive tracks), and Space Harrier, among others, and some other decent to good ones such as Tempo, After Burner, Star Wars Arcade, Blackthorne, Kolibri, etc. It's certainly not a must-have, but iIf you like Sega's games on the Genesis, you're likely to find some good games on the 32X too.
So did Rise of the Robots.
*burn*
Knuckles Chaotix is badly flawed, but it does play decently and it has really good bonus stages. It's no Rise of the Robots, not even close.
