I see your point. Being able to dress up a game character is definitely worth handing over information. I didn't quite understand what was at stake.

That aside, everyone can and should decide for themselves just how comfortable they are with programs like these. I signed up for a Sega account, but won't even buy a game that requires me to register an account to play. Other people couldn't care less about the latter and that's their prerogative too.

Theyre the ones actually making the products and services, and you're the one buying them. At considerable expense to both parties.

Why should Steam be the ones dictating your relationship with the devs you buy games and mtx from?
Sega can pull their games from Steam and sell them exclusively in their own store we'll see how that goes for them.

Doesn't Nintendo also require an account to play their games? It makes total sense that Sega does it too.

its also the only way to do things like cross progression. Im all for 3rd party account linking given nintendo, sony, and xbox will never do it themselves (nor would i expect them to).

Its annoying, but you do it one time and never think about it again. Dont see what the issue is, but to each their own.

Is this just a current day equivalent of a registration card? Does anyone remember registration cards in the back of manuals?
