Sega teases new game (Valkyria Chronicles 3??)

Could they just not set it directly in Gallia? Like, maybe have you play as a detachment of Federation forces going after the Alliance in the immediate aftermath of VC1?

There wasn't any mention of overseas involvement in VC1 was there?

Altaha Abilia appears to be the motto for a US regiment involved in the Rhineland ~ Central Europe campaign (ie. ca. Battle of the Bulge through invasion of Germany)...figured I'd just toss that out there.

There's potential in using the Federation for a new game. I mean they didn't do much except show up in a few missions and be douches in VC1. That was all Gallia vs. Empire otherwise. The Federation is overdue for a bit of exposition. (Unless that was handled in VC2 on PSP. Don't know, don't have a PSP.)

Still, it's awesome to see that Valkyria is a franchise that keeps on chugging along. I guess it's profitable enough over time to keep this up. I don't think I've seen any game on the HD consoles pull off the slow burn as well as Valkyria, to be honest.

From what I remember it was only focussed on Europe (Europa). You had the Allied Forces and the Empire duking it out and Gallia slap bam in the middle of them both.

Interesting.

Words just couldn't explain how I feel right now.

This gif gets me every time.

Hopefully people will get out there and buy the g@dd@mn game this time!

It's been said but...please be on PS3! Multiplatform would be great...but PS3 at the very least!

I doubt it's multiplatform. This is Sega, the leader of DERP DERP business decisions.

I do hope it's PS3 this time though and not PSP. Don't own any handhelds.

Oooooh, that could be interesting.

Bingo! That's probably why we're getting the same date as the first game.

PS3 or bust.

I can understand moving the series to the PSP, what with the fact that the first sold terribly, but part of the appeal of the first was the amazing HD visuals coupled with the art style.

Releasing on a system that's dead in Japan and not exactly big in the west isn't going to change sales for the better.

Also, less of the shitty anime high school hijinks trope that the second has please. The first had it's beach setion, and its completely anime as hell story, but at least it wasn't based around a trope as its main concept.

Of course, I sold my PSP months ago, so I'm kinda biased.

Uh wha? How is PSP dead in Japan?

Getting close to finishing the first game and eagerly looking towards starting the 2nd one. I get more impressed with it as I play.

As I've said before I'm fairly platform agnostic with this franchise. All I know is the more people who get to play it the better. I can safely say it's my favorite SRPG of all time.

Yeah, thats Valkyria Chronicles.

Maybe VC1 port to the PSP though, has to ether be a port of VC1 or taking place at the same time story wise, since VC1 took place in 1935, while VC2 took place in 1937. Maybe we could see some of the other nations of that war.

As pointed out, the PSP is certainly not dead in Japan. It's one of the more active systems, actually. It was a calculated gamble to try to reap enough of an increase off the PSP userbase in Japan to make up for any losses in the west, and at a lower budget. While it did sell better than the original in Japan, it didn't sell much better, so the gamble didn't pay off. Combined with the fact that the handheld generation is ending, I very much doubt this will be on PSP.

And the first game is just as tropey as the second one, just in a different way.

Or maybe it's the first game told from the perspective of the true main characters: Aika, Vyse, and Fina.
also, there's now an overworld and towns

and random battles

and pirate ships

and pirate ship battles

Niice, and I just ordered the first one!
You're in for treat.

Since the year is the same as VC1, some of the possibilities that could happen is:
  • You follow a different squad from Gallia (Faldio's maybe?).
  • You play out as the Atlantic Federation (Hardly anything was shown of them in VC1, which could allow for different classes to be available).

Too true!

Maybe let us play as soldiers from someplace other Gallia, perhaps...

I wonder about the Atlantic Federation sometimes.

Altaha Abilia 422 with that symbol above pretty much confirms this is a new game and not a VC port. It will allow the new classes from VC2 to be brought over too. Having another Galian unit with these classes would make no sense.

This.

Maybe its about the origins of Vyse, Aika & Fina; how they mysteriously got transferred from the far away planet of Arcadia to war-torn Europa?
