sell me on ghost of tsushima

JokerMM

Gay porn is where it's at.
i have $40 to spare, and since it's on sale, i am debating whatever i should get it or not

I would say instead of listening to random people on internet, watch the reviews and gameplay footage and decide for yourself.

That way you have less chance to get disappointed.

It's good. If you don't mind pretty claustrophobic camera. Feel like this games was meant to 21:9 format than 16:9....

It's a simple open world action adventure. And maybe that's the element that resonate with me.

Getting tired of open world games that keeps shoving you a bunch of weapons with different stats and color tier a la Destiny.

Narrative, both in main and side quests, are well structured and mostly self contained. All of them has a definite arc to it. There's gonna be no missions where you feel like it's teasing you with a continuation in expansion DLC or something like that.

Gameplay-wise, the controls are very simple and fun to press. You're not gonna be switching/holding buttons just to pick up an item like in RDR2, and your character moves as smoothly as Snake in MGS5, my current standard for navigational animation that is detailed enough to be competent, but still function what it suppose to do.

GoT's mission design still feels old-fashioned, but it has certain beats that could took you by surprise.

Lastly, just wanna say that I haven't been so serene to see falling leaves blowing through the wind until I played this game. Last time a game did that, it was Okami in the PS2.

make up your own mind. look at reviews and/or gameplay. do you think it's something you'd enjoy? buy it.

If you like swordfights and can live with some highly stylish but repetitive gameplay then the game is for you.

It's good but open world tiredness sets in eventually. I think it was a bit over hyped imo
Agree. The game is good but by the middle of act 2 I had to drop it.

Is there something else you could buy with those 40$? If not, just do it man.

I can't wait to play the game on PS5 6 60fps . Whenever that is:lollipop_weary:

I didn't play it yet, so as an outsider it's kind of ridiculous/funny how the game does everything in its power to make you understand that this is Japan indeed!
You see the shrines you pray at? You see the cute foxes you follow? You see all the leaves falling 24/7? How much more Japan would you want?

Don't hate me, I fully intend to play it, I just love the irony behind the "tourist attraction" design.

I don't like Assassins Creed series because I found it booring and bland (played AC1, AC2 and Black Flag. Only finished Black Flag).
I really really like GoT!

Buy It - Great story, upgrades and visuals. I did not know if I was going to like it but once I started playing I knew I was on to something epic. Easily one of my top 10 games of all time. You've been missing out.

How much do you like Assassin`s Creed type open worlds?

Cause the game design is that but with more competent gameplay (not by much) and beautiful beautiful visuals.

It can be really immersive if you whant that. Like play with Headphones and Japanese Voices and enjoy the Story.

It's one of the best open world games I've ever played. I got all the trophies in the game (pre-multiplayer patch) over the month of August and September this past year and enjoyed it tremendously. Played it almost entirely in "Kurosawa Mode" with Japanese dialogue and it was like a classic Samurai flick come to life under my control. (I say almost because there was one mission that was colour-dependant that was considerably easier with actual colour, naturally.)

I've never played a game by this studio before but you can damn well believe I will pay a lot more attention to them now. Very impressive effort by them, and if you have any fondness for the material it pays supremely well homage to, getting the game now for a discounted price is an absolute no-brainer.

Might go back and do New Game+ that has been added and play the game in colour this way. Some of the most breathtaking views I've ever seen in a game this side of the Uncharted games.

It's a good game. If you liked Ubisoft's 3rd person open world titles like AC then you will like this. Otherwise, save your money.

There are super cool mythic tales to encounter in the beautiful open world of Tsushima Island. There's also a pretty dang cool Batman Begins Easter Egg attached to a mythic tale!

It takes a little too long to properly open up gameplay-wise IMO. Maybe that's because I'm one of those people who does too much side stuff in between story missions, though.

Once it fully clicks and you have all your toys and abilities, it becomes really hard to put down. The story is well presented and the gameplay is fun. I'm not really sure what more you can ask from a game. There are some very valid criticisms to make just as there are for any game, but this one is quite solid.

Play it on the Hard difficulty, btw.

There's plenty of content out there for you to check out to come to a conclusion on your own. So I'd highly recommend doing that before being swayed by other people's opinions.

I CAN tell you that it was my personal GOTY. At first I was expecting a basic open-world game with a new setting, but it was so much more than that. Before I knew it, I was completing EVERYTHING I possibly could, which is something I had never done before.

The flow of the game is solid, the gameplay is solid, the environments, art, music. It's all solid. Then you tack on the free Legends DLC and updates they added. It's almost a no brainer to me. Regardless of the decision you make OP, I can tell you that I certainly recommend it.

If you're into a good open world games that has good story and characters, that has awesome combat system with a very different world than any other game out there. Get it. It's one of the best games of the generation.

Yeah, do play on Hard and not the top difficulty, Realistic maybe its called? Its fun to have an even-sum game where you and the enemies can die in a similar, small number of hits but I found it boring after 30 mins because the enemies die too quickly before you can use all your fun moves/toys on them. Hard is the best because they take more damage but still can be killed super quickly if you know what you are doing and you can easily be killed in about 1-2 seconds if you don't pay attention, even with loads of upgrades installed + an expanded health bar.

Also turn off the "Hints" or something its called in the options, this way the game doesn't constantly tell you where to look on the ground when following a trail so its actually remotely challenging to search "crime scenes", that setting only has one benefit which is putting a glow on plants you can harvest when they are quite far away, when its off the glow only happens when you are really close to them, but its worth this tradeoff to make the game much more immersive. Otherwise when you are following a trail it literally just gives you a marker for the next part of the trailer almost immediately and I hated that. You'll just have to be on the look out for plants instead of relying on the glow to spot them, its not hard, just requires 5% more of your attention.

Also, as others have said, play through the first few story/side missions before you do too much of the open world stuff (especially camps), because you'll get vital tools early on that make the game way more fun, I ended up doing quite a few camps near the beginning before I even had stealth kills and the bow and its just not as fun because you have little options then. Takes 30 mins to do those missions though so after that you can roam free and unlock/upgrade many things just by doing open world stuff.

I am just finishing up a few things and then getting back to it on PS5 to finish the 2nd half of the game, if you like doing everything you can before moving on in a game I'd strongly suggest you to not do that because you might get burnt out that way, there is a LOT of content if you take your time.

One of my favourite things in the game is how you can bow at any time, its produces a bunch of unique dialogue and effects if you do it to different objects/people. It really made the world feel more real when I could do that, even though its a very static open world if you compare it to something like Breath of the Wild, which is unfair because it wasn't going for that, but I'm just glad they managed to add in some things of their own design to flesh out the world more.

Game is very beautiful and fun to play. About on par with Days Gone. I would advise to play it on hard as the difficulty gets pretty easy once you gain enough powers.

Why would anyone need to sell you on the Players' GOTY?

Clearly it's an excellent game, it's down to you if it Interests you or not.

Super simple encounter and only using two out of a hundred attacks available.

And you still feel like a total badass.
Play with Jap dub. Top tier game.

Cool looking gif...pad in the hand though, the combat is nothing close to the best stuff on the market (sekiro, souls, nioh, pick one).

If you ever wanted an Assassins Creed set in Japan done right with the implementation of a combat that utilizes that multi-layered approach and combat of a katana, buy the game.

How so? Time response are flawless, input lag non-existent, every single game element and mechanic prioritize player input, bow aiming couldn't be any better.
Couldn't disagree more in particular about Souls.. like, what the hell.

If you like open world games but were annoyed by the jankiness of RDR2 you might enjoy GoT. It's a "smooth" experience by comparison. I loved RDR2, but damn did it control like shit. I would add that GoT is very pretty. Great art style.

Also if games like Souls/Sekiro have made you feel like a weakling, the sword play of GoT will rebuild your ego nicely.

I'm still not sold on it, I didn't even finish the first chapter because it's so so boring. It's an open world collect a thon that's really no different than a Far Cry but escapes a lot of criticism because it's a Sony exclusive.

Or maybe people genuinely enjoyed being guided by wind and animals in exploring and collecting stuff in such a beautiful world?

Both the camera and the enemy AI sucks,
AI, fair, but camera? I guess you're referring to the lack of lock on because i never had i single issue with it. Can't imagine how someone could say it "sucks".

And yes, compared to Souls, Nioh and Sekiro it's for sure far easier but still fairs extremely well in terms of competence of mechanics with the last two, and just a match in Legends would be enough to see it.

BUT! for and open world game? I would say it's the best out there, far better imo than Witcher 3 or Assassins Creed games.
How can you play this game and still feel the need to add "imo" when saying the combat is better than Witcher 3 or AC?

Both the camera and the enemy AI sucks, and while having a lot of fun tools at your dispossal, it makes the game quite easy.

Not that the combat is bad either, it really "makes you feel like a samurai" and it's quite fun, but there are much more refined experiences out there, like Nioh, Sekiro or DMC V.

BUT! for and open world game? I would say it's the second best out there, far better imo than Witcher 3 or Assassins Creed games.

Do you like samurai movies? then the game does a really good effort to allow you to roleplay that.
It's as much of a sandbox game as Infamous but without the karma system, temper your expectations to that.

Me pretending to play Yoshimitsu, honestly my favorite outfit in the game.
Play it on hard or lethal, i would argue that lethal it's a tad easier since everything die quicker, including you.
