games are about gameplay, pressing the buttons and having the onscreen characters do the thing, it's why Astrobot was Goty last year.

GoT to me plays far better than Ass creed which while having some new mechanics like the prone and grapple, is still pretty barebones and underdeveloped.

Call me crazy but i felt the older AC games actually physically played better because they were more focused, sure the combat was brainless but it was by design, because the point of the games were stealth and following your targets, planning escape routes and so on. Modern AC gameplay is also brainless but it is the sole design of the games and where the titles are focused.

Both 7\10 games, shadows is better in some aspects, sushi is better in others.

For some people ronin steal both their lunches.

Tsushima is about
a samurai (or rather, a bushi, as per the japanese voice acting) who wants to stick to the very strict rules of the samurai/bushi way, but quickly learns that without stepping on the line, he nor his friends won't survive.

Shadows is about
a woman seeking revenge for the death of her father.
(so far, from my understanding).

I like the first story better. Gameplay-wise, they are similar, without the ability of climbing everything or doing parkour for Jin though. So Tsushima for me.

I was pretty hooked on Rise of the Ronin for a few weeks but ultimately can't remember any of my playthrough. I'm generally of a fan of team ninja and I'm pretty sure the combat is superior there to these other games but apparently the overall structure of the game and it's narrative push left no mark on me. Same exact thing with GoT actually. Played it all the way through and can't remember it at all.

I liked Ghost, but based on what I've seen in videos and the thread without playing Shadows, it seems like it could easily surpass it. More weapons, more characters, more options with stealth including dual assassinations. I don't know if the story sucks but it wasn't great in Tsushima either. Graphics are definitely better.

Big question for me is the combat I guess. Does Shadows have more city areas with tons of buildings? Can you go inside any buildings? Because Ghost pretty much doesn't have that at all, just tents and a few temples you see from the outside.

I'll definitely pick up Shadows at some point. Yotei I'm sure will also improve stuff.

Shadow is visually more next-gen, but the combat and gameplay are far superior to Ghost.
Besides, one will be made by over 400 developers, and the other will only be made by 150 if we're lucky.

GoT has style and is solid in the main game, but the open world is extremely bloated. Horrible (almost) A.I. generated monotone sidequests with wooden NPC's and typical Ubisoft bloat boringness.

GoT is nowhere without it's style. And style alone is not enough to separate it from Shadows. A game that does so much more and so much better.

Shadows is by far the best AC Ubisoft ever made and it's simply a great game. The atmosphere alone is worth the buy.

Why, do you need them to judge it for you instead of yourself?

Stop bullying the Neo members. hahahaha

That's not a typo, it's a grammatical error, and one that is spreading like the plague around the web.

It's the new "could have", the new their/there/they're... and it needs to be cured before it spreads too much!
Mabe he cant sea the lite humer in this, but I kan!

Considering the poll specifically mentions the open world, Shadows blows Tsushima out of the water.

No one who has actually played both games will say Tsushima.

It's AC shadows, and it's not even close.

I got bored of Ghost like 12 hours in. It's even more copy-pasted than AC games, but people give it a pass because of the art direction and great combat (and it's PS exclusive lmao). AC Shadows slams it in every way that isn't combat. Better player movement/traversal, stealth (and other gameplay systems tbh), open world/level design, more/better cosmetic options, wildlife, and the weather system is amazing.

This is as nonsensical as the Zelda-Horizon comparison based on the only aspects that would favor one of them.

Besides, comparing games 5 years apart is dumb. Tsushima's gameplay is on a whole different level from Shadows or any other "rpg-like" Assassins. It's a fun game. Recent Ubisoft games just aren't. They feel like a chore.

Anyway, Yotei will be a better comparison to Shadows.

Too bad that combat is 90% of what makes a samurai action game good.

GoT NPC'S are emotionless robots. They have the camera zoomed out in cutscenes for a reason. 50% of the game is bloated and unnecessary content. Without style GoT is absolutely nowhere. And with it it's just an OK game at best. The story is a rehash as well. Only the combat and style are quite good.

Ghost of Tsushima was fun, but it has one of the worst open worlds I've experienced in a long time. It was gorgeous, but nothing else. Breath of the Wild beats it otherwise in immersion.

I tried using Jin Sakai's different facial expressions in photomode and I swear that they all looked the same whether I chose happy, smiling or angry.

There's only two interesting characters in the whole game and that's Jin and his uncle.

GoT should have never ever been open world. There's no content for it. They just tried to pad out the runtime because they realized they didn't have enough to justify a 60$ price tag.

Open worlds should only be there if they serve the story or character progression.

I wanted a lot more depth in the stealth in Ghost of Tsushima personally, and there basically was nothing. The whole point of the story is that he's outmatched and has to fight using "dishonorable" techniques. Stealth seems a lot more interesting in Shadows from what I've seen. I don't know about the action combat portion though.

If it comes down to Samurai vs Samurai - GOT takes it by a mile for me. But Shadows is awesome.
The Ninja/Shinobi aspect is exceptional

Combat in shadows is ok. Passable as an upgrade from Valhalla, but similar system. Feels good, but puddle deep IMO.

As an open world stealth game though, it's top of the line and unmatched (unless you count MGSV as open world, but I don't really).

This is about where I stand. Yeah, it's still AC, but it really is the best they've ever done mechanically (narratively, Black Flag still slams, but it's got nothing on Shadows in any other area). So many little inclusions that made me go "Wow, for once Ubi, great attention to detail".

I'm curious to know what actual Japanese think about a game having a japanese soul?

A GAF Poll is probably not going to give you the answer you seek, lol.

You're better off going to 2chan or something.

Ronin combat is so good, not good as Nioh 2 but is great

Sekiro combat is boring to me cause you do only one thing from the start to the end.. parry parry parry parry parry parry parry parry there isnt any other play style available

GoT combat is casual heaven, easy to master, plenty of options, good animations and good Ai

Shadow combat is a disgrace, button mesh to the end, horrible animation and poor Ai, game is gorgeous though.

Not true. That's what the tools and other items are there for. You can use
those resources and don't parry anything if you want, it doesn't make the game harder either, but the combat more nuanced.
