WELL, CRAP. That's disappointing. Though weird EU is getting 1.17 at launch while US is getting 1.07. Maybe Xseed made a typo & meant a "1"?

I wonder why they're Japan only. Maybe Funimation, who has the rights to the anime, had some part in it? At the very least, we're still getting Ayame from DoA.

It would be weird if they shipped the games with different patches. But the licensing situation could be different in NA, we'll see

I'm checking with Xseed, as it said the "Western" release, so maybe it means the US version as well despite the blog being on the EU version.

I'm VERY sure nobody should have the gaming rights here in the US. One company was planning on bringing a PS2 Ikki Tousen game to the US, but canceled the plans since it would've been rated M & they didn't want to sell it with that rating (because....smaller demographic?) nor remove content to lower the rating since the interested consumers would be mad. Not to mention that company might possibly no longer exist.

Edit: It also seems weird if this is true for the US if Xseed wasn't able to get Ikki Tousen, but all those licensed characters for Akiba's Trip (Di Gi Charat outfit, Genshiken & Super Sonico outfits & character models) & not to mention all those characters that were in Nitroplus Blasterz (though I guess most, if not all were from games first).

Disappointed we aren't getting the Ikki Tousen characters but can't say I'm surprised. Love the reversible cover. Hope it's the same for the US version.

Not surprised at all for Ikki Tousen, it's a bit bigger than some other third party IPs and might not have been worth the work/money.
We're getting Rin and Daidoji for free at least, and Ayane!

That's really disappointing about the Ikkitousen characters. I really wanted to play as Kanu. I'm sure Marvelous did everything they could, but it's a bummer regardless.

Shame about the Ikki Tousen characters, but we still get Daidouji and Rin for free, so that's a plus.

Due to how close this game is coming out after Fire Emblem Fates, I sadly will not be able to snag it on Launch. Will most definitely get it at some point this year though. Maybe during the summer.

Just wanted to make sure since the blog was talking about the EU version, but yeah, I'm not really surprised.

Though granted, from what I've heard, they don't even have any story missions, which greatly reduces my desire for them, but still would've been nice.

I still hate that I confuse Ayane & Ayame after all this time.

Shame they can't go into more detail about the whole Ikki Tousen licensing, I'm really interested why it didn't happen.

It would be great if they use those three spaces to put three more characters from New Wave since we won't be getting the other girls... not gonna happen but it's nice to dream.

I really want to play as Ginrei, hopefully in Versus 3.

Yeah, can't believe we haven't seen more New Wave characters appear in the Versus series. Heck, make a spin-off Versus game with JUST the New Wave girls.

For Estival Versus, they will be free when you download the day one patch. They were added into the game later after the initial launch in Japan, but we'll get them day one after updating.

Ayane's name is based off her mother who was also named Ayame. So the mix up is intentional

Plot twist: Ayame from SK actually IS Ayane's mom, Ayane time traveled to before she was born & when her mom was younger. Therefore SK & DoA are actually the same universe.

I wonder what the reskins are going to look like. Maybe they'll base them on some of the New Wave girls?

Unless Ayame is a time witch in SK that won't happen. Also Ayane looks exactly like her mother, she and her sister look just like their mother, it's only hair and eye colour that sets them apart. :E

I hope that's just misinformation, if EU is getting 1.17 I can't see why they would prefer releasing with 1.06 and update the game constantly instead of 1.17 and just concentrate on the DLC.

Heads-up, as part of a PSN flash sale, Shinovi Versus is a whopping $16.

.............when's Bon Appetit gonna get discounted?

Edit: Xseed has another localization blog about Estival Versus & talks about the Endless Summer edition. They also confirmed that the day one patch will indeed update the game to version 1.17, so that tweet might've been a typo with "1.07". They could only fit 1.06 on the disc/cartridge because the later patches wouldn't fit on the Vita cartridge.

Not as good-- the framerate took a hit in EV compared to SV. The game doesn't play as smoothly on Vita, but it's still quite good and playable overall. PS4 is the best version of the game without a doubt though-- you get a much better, smoother framerate and more enemies on screen.

Some EV Avatars just went up on the JP PSN Store. ￥100 for individual characters, ￥450 - ￥630 for Avatar sets containing the girls from their specific schools, and ￥2000 for all of them at once.
