Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus |OT| Life Returns to Vita

Are you sure?

How do games that aren't compatible usually work on PSTV? Do they even start up at all?

Because I'm sitting on the main menu on my PSTV.

I'm curious as well. I thought incompatible games didn't boot, but since this one is...
Or was there another issue that needed to be patched?

When you try to start, you'll get a notice that says "This game is not compatible with PlayStation TV." Or something along those lines. And then get booted back to the game's splash page.

EDIT: Or, maybe the game's working already? If so, that's quicker than expected! Thanks for the heads up, Iskander!

I haven't laid my hands on an American PSTV yet, but Japanese Vita TV is a finicky beast. Those of you who have one (especially if you don't have an actual Vita) may find that it's a bit of a mixed blessing, as every single game that comes out from now on will have a big question mark next to it for a while as you're left wondering, will I even be able to play it? And if so, when?

It's almost like being on a coffee high, filled with constant anxiety.

Some will feel right at home. Others may not be able to handle it, and will be driven mad. And others still may be absorbed into the device, never to be heard from again. Those are the ones... who BECOME the game...

...Er... Scratch that last part. That doesn't happen. Really. It "doesn't." I "swear."

Still sort of on the fence about this game, due to backlog, but this might have pushed me over.

Looking forward to reading impressions from people. The game's cool, man.

Reckon I'll be double-dipping so I can skip through all the text again, but actually feel like I'm missing out this time :)

Heh. While in the store, you can use the touchscreen on the shop girl.

Edit: THICKNESS IS TRUTH, SIZE IS JUSTICE.

Downloaded just before going to work. I'm impressed by the bubble icon and load screen so far at least. I look forward to playing later. Also that art book quote is amazing.

Wow, either I'm underleveled, or the game's rather harder. Tried Asuka's first set of character missions & got a C, then D (barely survived the 2nd mission). Maybe I should've started with the main missions.

Also, hold L or R & tilt the Vita before & after a mission when your character's on the screen.

Does anyone have a nice scan of the soundtrack cover? I need it so I can attach it to the soundtrack; just ripped it to my computer.

Also, I managed to get through the entire first and halfway through the second Hanzo chapters (and some Akiba's Trip) before my Vita started showing signs of battery dying, so I can now post some early impressions.

Wow. This game is every bit worth the hype and anxiety I went through for it. The payoff. Sogood. The graphics are gorgeous, and the battle is much more tricky. Despite the fact I've been getting D Grade on almost every mission, I've been having so much fun. It feels like clothes are easier to rip this time around. Or at least faster to rip. Either way, this is a great thing, because victory poses look twice as awesome when my character's clothes are torn to shreds. That could be just my preference, though.

The characters fighting styles all still feel true to their Burst counterparts, but at the same time, feel completely different. All the characters in Hanzo are a joy to play as.

Except freakin' Hibari.

I like her as a character, but damn do I hate playing as her. Despite the fact that her attacking skills have improved, I still cant find a way to use her without making it feel like a battle of attrition.

Final note, Panty Lottery is addictive; I spent fifteen minutes in that mode alone. Watch your Zeni.

I wish they had DLC where you could wear the laughing baby face from so many Nico Nico videos. Seeing the caricature faces with a complete strip makes me believe this could be a thing.

Edit: review just went live, if you'd like to add it to the OP, Pariah. http://www.justpushstart.com/2014/10/senran-kagura-shinovi-versus-ps-vita-review/

;p

QQ, No patch was involved for the compatibility, right?

It just means SCEA's white list blocking the game, and xseed had got the latest version of game from the developers.

weird everyone only has 2 jutsu's. weren't there 3 per character in Burst?

The third one is unlocked during each school's campaign and are especially spectacular (Asuka's got to ride a giant toad). Note that all three jutsu are ground based, you don't have a air jutsu (you have the special sequences with buttons mashing instead).

ah.

Anybody got any tips for scoring higher? I assume i get dinged a bunch for getting hit a bunch. but its pretty hard not to get hit, like in burst....

Got my LE in the mail from Best Buy, but the box is all beat up. Should I try picking up another one in store in 5-7 days, or is this one of those games that all of the boxes will be messed up for?

My local ebgames didn't end up receiving their shipment, so it's time to double-dig on the digital version! I'm more than a little impatient and need life right now.

The only time I kept a damaged box and book was that Mario collection on the Wii. I bought it from Dell and was told they wouldn't get more but I could return it. I decided to keep it since the game was apparently limited and I did not know if i would see one again. Wish i had not kept it. Local stores had them within a week. I won't keep damaged goods again.

I hope it changes later on, but Frantic Mode is OP as hell in the early stages, lol
If it's like Burst, it'll seem you're OP at first but it'll get harder on the later stages. I remember one stage was just so frustrating on Frantic.

Which side's story do you guys recommend to do first?

Despite being the "new school," I'd say the only real answer to this is "not Gessen."

Gessen's story is the weakest of the four IMHO. Crimson Squad's is the strongest, but you need to unlock them before you can play them. Of the three factions available from the start, I prefer Hanzo, but Hebijo is also quite good, especially if you like really dark narratives.
