I disagree.
Just got done watching it over two nights. Fell in love with the show and all of its characters.

Look forward to hearing about a season 2.

Finished this over the weekend. It took me a while to warm to it and I thought the first 5 or 6 episodes were really slow, but I really liked the second half of the series and I thought all of the characters were well developed. Some of the dialogue was so bad - such as most of the conversations between Nomi and Neets, or that bit where Kala is telling her dad that her father in law didn't want her to get married, and he really plainly lays out the two choices open to her, in such an obvious and dumb way.

I really liked Lito. I felt like he brought some really welcome levity and I liked the dynamic between him, Hernando and Dani. Didn't really like Nomi or Riley, although Nomi became a lot more interesting and useful by the end even if I found her super-hacker background a little silly. Capheus and Sun were great - proactive, likeable characters put into interesting circumstances. I'm fairly lukewarm towards Kala, Wolfgang and Will, although again Will became more interesting towards the end once he actually had stuff to do. Jonas was cool and I would have liked to have seen more of Angelica as the matriarch/creator of their cluster, and presumably the most powerful Sensate aside from Whispers. Speaking of which, I thought Whispers was an interesting villain but I'd have liked to have seen a little more of him. I really liked that the main 8 characters were not famous actors as I would have found that distracting.

Good plots for each character - I liked how they all had their own stuff to deal with, although once it became obvious that they were able to communicate with people all over the world, wouldn't you be hopping on a plane to go and visit one of them?! I mean, for Wolfgang or Riley, you can get a flight between London and Berlin in about 3-4 hours. With
all that money Riley accidentally pinched,
wouldn't that be an ideal time to catch a flight back to Iceland or Germany or America, and lay low for a while? Obviously skipping the country wouldn't be an option for some of them (i.e. Sun and Capheus) but I'd be desperate to go and meet these other people just to make sure I wasn't going mad. On the whole I'd have liked them to do a little more with the shared consciousness premise, although again they made up for this in the second half of the season.

Anyway, really enjoyed it overall despite a slow beginning, and I really hope they do a second series. I have a lot of respect for the Wachowskis even though they don't always fully realise their vision, and this is probably their best work since The Matrix.

My wife and I just finished this series the other night and thought it was fantastic. I would also like to agree on the positivity in the show, and how each of the characters were there for each other at the most important of personal reflections and danger. It was that level of intimacy in their shared emotions and how one sense8 would perceive a situation so vastly different to the other which I think carried the show.

I would say it's also one of those shows that is just full of atmosphere and it can hit the right notes despite the fairly inconsistent writing. The fact that the show also spans multiple countries is refreshing and great for focusing on cultural differences around the world (which I believe was the intention of the Wachowskis rather than to focus on the Sci-Fi of it?)

Hopefully we will get a season 2!

Well said, I agree. I'm almost finished and I love every character so much. On second thought, no it's Cepheus's conversation he had with Riley about his sister had me in tears. Lovely show.

You're a big guy.
Into the second episode, this is exactly what I expected. Incredibly cheesy, diverse, loose-sci-fi. Lost meets Cloud Atlas.

My god is the dialogue bad. The nurse in the first episode was like a subtext announcer. Or like in Black Dynamite where one of the actors reads out stage directions. Jesus.

Not going to lie, Kala is the reason I'm going to keep watching.

I know it's hard to believe, but I felt the same way at that point. I am on the next to last episode and I can safely say this is one of my favorite shows of the year. You really grow to love the characters. There are some scenes in this show that are exhilarating to watch.

I thought it was an interesting series, but I would've liked it better if it had fewer sex scenes. There were way too many of those.

Capheus is the best character.

Just finished watching the show. Extremely weird, uneven and exasperating at times. But despite all these flaws it just clicked with me. I started liking it more and more and by the time I finished the season finale I decided I REALLY want a second season.

I encourage all other people who want a season 2 to tweet Netflix and let them know.

I finished it last night as well and I fucking loved it. That finale was perfect-having everyone work together was great and everytime one of them appeared to lend a hand brought a smile to myself.

Two episodes left.

I'm kind of shocked by how much I've enjoyed this show.

Has plenty of weird, dumb Wachowski quirks, but all things considered, it's solid and engaging. The best work they've done in ages.

This show kind of makes me wish the Wachowskis had gotten into TV a while ago and were a bit more experienced at it by now.

With enough experience under their belts I think they could become truly great showrunners. I think TV suits their narrative ambitions so much better than film.

Two weeks until we know if it is renewed based on that twitter account.

I would be very surprised if Netflix didn't renew it. They've never cancelled anything before and I doubt they'd just leave all those plotlines hanging. It's just not their model.

Plus, Sense8 seems to have quite a passionate following online, which isn't something that can be said of many other series.

This makes me very happy! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I like the show but I think they went completely overboard with some scenes like the 4 non blondes song and the whole babies coming out of vaginas thing. Overall I enjoyed it and liked the characters.

Absolutely. Just finished it last night and was seriously impressed.

It is still uneven - everything Amanita says and most everything Nomi says is the cheesiest line for the situation. The flow of most episodes feels strange. Some scenes were unnecessarily graphic - the birth scenes to Beethoven's piano concerto no. 5 (his best work) in particular.

That said, I enjoyed the characters, who felt fresh and unique despite clear thematic overlap. It was also very satisfying when they tag teamed using their sense8 powers EP12 spoilers:
"You are a policeman you have to sworn to protect people. You won't do it" " No, but I know someone who will" *cue Wolfgang's psycho face
.

I think that for its many flaws, it gets away with it by virtue of being fun and being positive. I just hope that Kala and Wolfgang and Lito become better integrated with the rest - they felt very separated.

I really hope it is renewed and I do feel the narrative developments will allow for a cheaper series 2.

Sense8's Comic-Con panel is tomorrow at 5pm Pacific time! Hopefully we'll get some cool tidbits out of it.

So uh, no S2 announcement? Is this the longest Netflix has waited to announce a new season of a show? I mean for goodness sake's, they gave three seasons to Hemlock Grove.

Wait, hold on, I love Sense8 as much as anyone, but that's no reason to attack the (entirely unintentional) masterpiece that is Hemlock Grove. The ending of S2 alone made the entire show worth it. I mean, where else do you have (spoiler for ending of S2 of Hemlock Grove)
a woman jump from a building to kill herself and a vampire baby that might be evil incarnate, only to be caught by what can best be described as a giant flying manta
?

You can't top that.

I think it just stands out because House of Cards, Daredevil, and OITNB were all announced so quickly (hell wasn't OITNB S4 announced before season 3 had aired?!)

Just read that the co-creator was optimistic that Netflix will pick it up. Man, Netflix better pick it up.

How about the scene in that episode in the elevator going down
when Will inadvertently makes eye contact with Whispers
very much a "NOOOOOO!!!" moment and holy shit. The way they pulled it off was great. What a horrible situation.

I watched it over the last few days, I absolutely adored it. I love all the characters, especially Capheus, Sun, Kala, Nomi and Amanita.
The concept of the series is just amazing to me, I absolutely loved it and pretty much squealed everytime the characters had a new interaction.

It was obviously really awesome seeing Sun taking over to do some badass fight scenes, but I loved the quieter moments as well, like the budding romance between Kala and Wolfgang, Capheus' enthusiasm for the all the new things he sees and his conversations with pretty much anyone, the heartbreaking conversation between Nomi and Lito, ect.

It's a really fantastic concept that in my mind works perfectly for me on multiple levels. Seeing a developing friendship between all these vastly different people was so lovely to watch, and all the different cultures were fascinating.

Kala was perhaps the least interesting character for me... at first. But towards the end she became one of my favourites.
"I'm not like Sun, I don't know how to use my fists, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to fight" - proceeds to make a bomb out of shit she finds in a cupboard. Amazing.

I was surprised to learn, reading the TV tropes page that Sara Patrell, the girl that Will failed to save, was one of their cluster. There were originally 9 of them until she died. I suppose none of them really felt it because they hadn't been "awakened" yet?

I really hope that the original plan of 5 seasons actually comes true, because this concept is too good to end.

I tried watching the first 2 episodes of this show and it was just terrible. I see people saying it gets better, but no thanks.

Wait-this isn't true is it?

I think she was like Jonas-a member of another Cluster that made eye contact with Will.

My only guess for the non announcement is that the show must cost a good bit of money to make with all the location shooting. So does House of Cards but I don't feel like Sense8 is anywhere near that kind of buzz level.

Who knows but I hope they announce S2 soon.

I'm not sure, that's what it says on TVtropes but that's not confirmation I guess.
What Could Have Been: An in-universe case, as she would have been part of the cluster if Whispers hadn't gotten to her while she was still a child.

I suppose it would make sense (ha) since they looked about the same age and the cluster all have the same birthday. Perhaps her birth date was shown somewhere in the show itself. If she was born on the same day as Will and the others it's highly possible that she is part of the cluster.

I just finished watching this series.
I really liked it. Characters were dull at times but still enjoyable enough (except for Kala) to keep looking forward their stories.

I think they went a little over the top with some of the sex escenes tho. Especially Nomi's.
I'm not against gay sex on TV by any means. I actually appreciate them from time to time but both Lito and Nomi's escenes were a little too "IN YOUR FACE" kind of thing. There was this escene where I literally thought I was watching a soft porn movie.

That's really the only issue I have with this series. Other than that, I enjoyed it.
Hopefully we'll get more seasons.

edit: my favorite characters are Sun, Capheus and Wolfgang

YES! Van Damme always comes back!

That said the scene where Capheus
goes to confront the leader of the gangs and they reveal that they have the boss hostage
-my wife and I felt like we missed something. How did that happen? They didn't tell anything about how that character was captured and it seemed Capheus just happened to be there at the same time?

Let's all relive that badass scene together:

One of my favorite moments was when Capheus was talking about his home and the size of his television. The bed keeps you in your house, but the TV lets you leave it.

Yeah, I didn't understand how the gang captured Silas.
As for Capheus
He went to where the gang was because they were expecting him to bring Silas' daughter to kill her but he was like, fuck it, let's end this.
What I got from that escene is that Capheus wanted to end the problem "peacefully" as in, if one of them dies, problems between them die there as well.

It seems like the gang actually wanted to kill both Silas AND his daugher even tho the leader said he only wanted to kill the girl.
Then Sun took his place and we know how things ended :p

edit: I'm not sure if that's what you're asking lol
I was blown away by the whole sequence

I'm so glad to find out this show has developed a decent following. I had heard mixed things so was hesitant to start, but by the time I was finished I had totally fallen in love with the characters. Such a human story. This show needs a renewal. Van Damme must ride again.

That's what did it for me too. A lot of shows I'm in it for the plot, and to see what happens, but every now and then there's a show where I love every one of the characters and I have to be with them-Farscape comes to mind for me with this example.

You sir have excellent taste.

I really hope this show gets renewed. It's probably my favorite Netflix show.

The thread to announce the eventual renewal must be subtitled "Van Damme Rides Again" or the OP is doing it wrong.

If you notice, Riley seemed to have the greatest control over the sensate powers than any of the others. She had the most interactions with the other characters, and she seems to draw them in and focus them (the singalong caused by her listening to music, all of them remembering their births because of her, all of them being together on the boat at the end)

So uh, no S2 announcement? Is this the longest Netflix has waited to announce a new season of a show?

It's been 38 days since Sense8 premiered.

Hemlock Grove took 61 days to get renewed for season 2 and 53 days to get renewed for season 3.

House of Cards took 34 days to get renewed for season 4.

Marco Polo took 26 days to get renewed for season 2.

Grace and Frankie took 18 days to get renewed for season 2.

Bloodline and Daredevil both took 11 days to get renewed for season 2.

BoJack Horseman took 4 days to get renewed for season 2.
