Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced Arrives August 12 (PC/XBS/PS5 - $49.99)

The "warrior troll" takes are the "lol no gameplay", "it's not even a game, it's a movie", "it's just a tech demo" people that litter virtually every thread pertaining to this game.
Preach brother. People should be able to enjoy their 4 hour mental illness simulator of pressing up on their analog stick in peace.

I paid 40$ for Nightreign and, so far, I have 130h in it. It has been worth every penny.

Will I get the same worth of Hellblade 2 gameplay, or just another trend following emotional walking simulator story with a bit of gameplay in between?
Let me tell you the tale of a game called Fortnite.

What's more surprising is that we have a pretty much flawless made thread by Draugoth Draugoth 🤔 :messenger_tongue:

Anyway, I have the PS4 version, so I may restart my playthrough for the PS5 version. 8/12 is my birthday so it's a fitting gift.
PS4 version? The first game is on PS4, but this sequel has only been on XB/PC until this update.

At least they've added a 60fps mode on the console now that it's coming to PS5... but I don't think it will sell very well. Better games come out in August.

I quite liked the original on PS4. Yes, the combat was very much rudimentary, and some of the "match symbols in the environment" puzzles, while thematically appropriate (psychotic people often see patterns where there are none), were super tedious. Still, it was a refreshing, rather different than usual, experience.

So if I'm reading between the lines, the only way to get the PS5 upgrade is to get the deluxe edition of this? If that is the case, I'll happily wait for a sale.
it does say that "For those of you who already own the PlayStation 4 release of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, you can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free."

I didn't mind the first game, and I'm sure it was only around £25 to buy on release, so I couldn't really complain at the length. £49.99 seems a bit steep for the sequel if we're talking bang for your buck.

There are certain games - hell, whole genres like walking sims and visual novels - that are primarily about an interesting experience with very light gameplay that don't get shit on half as much as this series does. Not every game should have the same goal for what they try to get their audience to feel and or how they do it. It's also a little weird how much the artistic visions gets romanticized only to quickly dumpster it to wonder how hard does that sword swing.

I don't give a shit what people say. I enjoyed my time with this.

I enjoyed it too for the visuals and linear experience. Had some of the coolest battles going on in the village skirmishes with how it all erupted. Definitely was worth playing one time, and I will do it again when this version comes to try it out in ultra-wide post DLSS 4.0

Im sure its gonna look great on my PS5 pro but I already played it on PC and I am not gonna double dip for a tech demo.

Wait The Order isn't in plus? That's genuinely shocking. Aren't most PS4 first party releases in it?
yeah. I think it is the one of the few Sony games missing beside any GT or Blood & Truth could have been added in the past for VR1.
Comparing money spent to hours of gameplay is a flawed metric. Value isn't purely measured in time—it's about the quality of the experience, how much it engages you, or what it leaves you with afterward. No one asks how many minutes of enjoyment they'll get from a $20 meal or questions the ROI of buying a $50 shirt. We make those decisions based on how something makes us feel, not how long it lasts. Games aren't any different.
Of course no one sits playing a game and every 1h 35min 12sec are reached, exactly 5€ worth is "paid", so it needs ten times that, if the price tag is 50... no one said that. But of course you measure everything through a "was it worth it" lens too.
If you are done and feel you paid too much for it you regret it automatically. If you paid less, the joy should be the same but no regret sets in, so does not tarnish the experience. Physical you will sell it and limit the "loss", with digital you are stuck with it though. Just not fun, not your type game or too short is in the end the same. Or even too long sometimes, good even great but with too much filler, can also bother people. If you have borrowed it from a friend and paid zero, it won't influence your enjoyment at all, there was no money invested anyway, then it will be judged purely on was it worth the time.
Same as a meal that was great but you left hungry because it was overpriced fine dining cuisine and nothing to really fill your belly. Some people might enjoy that luxury, some feel it is entirely a waste of money. Games aren't any different, but money of course plays a huge role in everything.

This edition also includes the Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice Original Soundtrack, so we think it's a great value package for those of you who are new to the franchise on PlayStation. For those of you who already own the PlayStation 4 release of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, you can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.

Not to be a total bummer, but does it strike anyone as convenient this is shipping the week before Xbox is going to do more layoffs? Makes me wonder if they get this out the door then lay off the team.

I would've bought for PSVR2…. Otherwise, couldn't give less of a damn.

it's so enhanced, now the camera zooms in even closer as the lady shouts and screams and overacts...

oh and you might be able to press A now and then.

50 bucks?????

How retarded are these people, seriously?
1$ per minute of gameplay, they have done the math

Means the release date is announced just before the team / studio layoff?

Could be. Tango (Hi-Fi Rush studio) was closed exactly like this. They ported the game to PS5 and got shut down immediately.

Well it's a free upgrade for everyone who bought it already. And free upgrade for part 1 with ray tracing. No $10 fee even, which I know is foreign to many of the people in this thread.

You know, I really enjoyed Hellblade 1. It had a fairly interesting story, some cool looking environments, and didn't overstay its welcome. Was it's combat simplistic? Sure, but the game was only like 6 or 8 hours long. A game that short doesn't need to get overly mechanical and complex. If I had been expected to engage with Hellblade's combat for 30 or 50 hours, then, yes, I would have expected it to have more depth. Also, the $30 price point made it clear that I was buying a short single player, narrative focused game.

That being said, Hellblade 2 is a sequel. It should improve on the original in some form or fashion. It's clear the combat is basically identical and they've increased the length, not by making the gameplay more complex, but by expanding on the narrative, which seems like a bad idea considering the story of HB was basically over and done with in part 1. I can't imagine what story there is to tell in part 2.

Also, $50 and $70? Fuck that.

This one is going to bomb, people won't pay 50$ for the late port of an interactive movie that lasts 5-6 hours.
It might become PlayStation Plus material.

Ill play it again if its even more souped up on PC. Can blast through it in a weekend with the headphones.
