The matches were pretty secondary. Hall and Nash came out about half way through the show, sitting in the front row with tickets. With police sitting at ringside as well. And at the announce booth. Eventually they somehow got a mic and started shit talking Bischoff, getting up to the stage before being stopped by half the roster and police. Nash clearly said "fuck" on live TV. They were escorted away in what apparently took like 25 minutes to get them to their car.

So, what is it specifically that people didn't like about Jericho's latest run?

Here are the pluses and minuses in my mind.

Pluses:
-Good return match against The Miz that helped establish "the moneymaker" character for The Miz
-Very cool first encounter with The Wyatts, and loud "This is awesome!" chants
-The sit-down interview with Bray going into Summerslam
-His matches against Bray at Summerslam and in the cage
-His matches against Kane and Orton

Minuses:
-Weak feud building in the Wyatt feud. ZERO clear motivation for them to fight. I put this on creative.
-Not enough legit mic time to put over his matches and feuds in general

Basically, I loved his in-ring work, but the mic time and storytelling outside of the ring were insufficient. Thoughts?

WWE Announces 2014 SummerSlam Pay-Per-View Buys

New data released by WWE shows that the 2014 SummerSlam event drew between 140,000 and 150,000 preliminary pay-per-view buys. This would be around 60,000 domestic buys and around 80,000 international buys.

This was up from the WWE Battleground pay-per-view, which drew 99,000 buys - 31,000 domestic buys and 68,000 international buys. This is also up from Money In the Bank, which drew 122,000 buys.

In comparison, the SummerSlam 2013 pay-per-view drew around 298,000 buys with 186,000 domestic and 112,000 international. Of course this was before the WWE Network.

AHTU is on there. That's the dude who got knocked out by Low Ki at EVOLVE. He's wrestled about 3 matches in 2014. I never knew Corey Graves, the dullest man in existence, was better than Masato Tanaka, but there you go. The Great Khali > Katsuyori Shibata (there's a match I'd like to see). British wrestling is barely represented, with Doug Williams, Paige's brother, Zack Sabre Jr. and Grado. Stro's on there, though! Congrats.

It's interesting because I see Orton as the exact opposite: he's one of the few guys they have on top who's just absolutely perfect with his timing, pacing, and match progression. He's on a level few can touch even when they try their best.

I'm not saying he's a 5-star match guy, because he is pretty deliberately slow and his style isn't very technical, but he's a solid 3-4 star match every PPV if the company's behind him with a story.

Orton is about as boring as a wet paper bag. People like to rip on ADR for his persona, but how is Orton's any better (isn't as good in the ring either, but that's another story)? . In fact, he's been this way for the last eight or so years. He's dreadful. Ever since he began feuding with Cena as a main eventer on Raw, he's gone downhill in character. He did his best stuff with Foley and Undertaker, two of the types of guys who makes others look miles better than they are. I mean, I guess he had that Christian feud that did nobody business other than his own in 2011; to which Christian carried his ass on every PPV, but I cannot think of any other notable match or program he's been in for the last several years. You say he hasn't had any stories or he wasn't treated as such, but he's been given the ball as the top guy more than anyone else not named Batista or Cena in the past ten years. And he has flopped as a big name because he's produced duds. For all the shit other guys get on the mic, Orton is bottom tier. You either gets matches with him that result in headlocks (i.e. Sheamus matches) or ones where he beats guys like RVD, Christian, Kofi, etc. by OUTTANOWHERE RKO's.

Jericho at this point does one thing. Try his best to put others over, nothing else. It's not his fault if creative/Vince do nothing with those guys after (like how he put over Kofi, Evan Bourne, Dolph Ziggler.) but they do nothing with them to follow up.

He's definitely slowed down a bit, and I noticed A LOT when he came back the last time to have that match against Punk, but I thought he looked on the ball this time around. His moves still looked fluid and fast enough to me. It's not like he's RVD bad or something.

The Big Show being higher than A LOT of talent is just weird to me. I don't remember a single thing he's been a part of this year except getting beaten down by Brock with chairs.

I never knew Corey Graves, the dullest man in existence, was better than Masato Tanaka, but there you go. The Great Khali > Katsuyori Shibata (there's a match I'd like to see). British wrestling is barely represented, with Doug Williams, Paige's brother, Zack Sabre Jr. and Grado. Stro's on there, though! Congrats.

I'm gonna guess and say the makers of this don't know who over half of these people are. They're just vaguely lining them up based on match cards, or something.

Last Tuesday's TNA Impact Wrestling tapings in Bethlehem, PA drew around 350 fans, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Wednesday's tapings drew around 200, Thursday's tapings drew 275 and Friday night's tapings drew 650. TNA had to heavily paper the Thursday night tapings to get to 275.
