September Wrasslin' |OT| Almost Brings a tear to my eye

It's interesting that Triple H is making their name changes part of kayfabe instead of pretending their previous names never existed (such as Brian Danielson)

I remember hearing they wanted Cole to get more experience before coming back, but they were always interested. That was a couple years ago, before his ROH title reign began. He's probably ready now.

The KENTA issue was mainly Vince though.

Triple H was adamant they not change KENTA's name to capitalize on his popularity in Japan and make sure they didn't offend the fans in his home country. He feels that KENTA can be of great assistance to WWE in Japan, which has gone cold in recent years. Vince, however, considers trademarking names very important, and was equally adamant that they give him a new name.

FINN BALOR is Devitt's WWE name.

Wikipedia says:

In Irish mythology, Balor (modern spelling: Balar) was king of the Fomorians, a group of supernatural beings. He is often described as a giant with a large eye in his forehead that wreaks destruction when opened. He has been interpreted as a god or personification of drought and blight.

It is suggested that Balor comes from Common Celtic *Baleros, meaning "the deadly one", cognate with Old Irish at-baill (dies) and Welsh ball (death, plague).[1]

Probably because I've followed Devitt's career for so long, it's going to take ages to get used to the name, but whatever, Daniel Bryan was Bryan Danielson once, too. Everyone will get used to it eventually.

"Finn" is still a weak sounding name. Balor is ok.

Daniel Bryan worked because it was easy to remember and not distracting on the wrestler. Hideo and Balor seems brutal for people to grasp as a household name.

That's like if Hulk Hogan came from the AWA to the WWF with a new name: Hugo Strango or some ridiculous shit like that.

What if Dusty Rhodes came to the WWF as Terror Eatingful?

So he finally got to be King Devitt after all.

Balor. "Ba-Lor". Not really that hard to grasp.
Should have called him Fionn (pronounced "Fyun"), not Finn, though. If they're going for the Irish mythology angle.

Finn is something a millennial names their son because they got high and watched Adventure Time once and the kid hates them forever after the age of 10.

Terror Eatingful is going to be Steen's name.

The company has told its distributors to go into heavy production of Austin merchandise, so expect him to return to television in some form, or for at least a renewed push of his merchandise. On Raw, they promoted his podcast, which they haven’t even done for Jericho, even when HHH was a guest. It’s interesting that HHH was on Jericho’s podcast and he has constant WWE guests, Austin has some, and WWE has not allowed any of its talent to do Jim Ross’ show.
