Why would you assume that? Look at her. Do you really not think she's athletic to be in the shape she is? Eva Marie is really just the inverse of Kevin Owens.
Lol. Well the KO thing is infinitely true. Hell KO is a better athlete too! Despite diet and gym time.

Chris Hero was on Wrestling Observer radio with Bryan and Mike and I remember him talking about a match with Mike Bailey where he put him over. When did that match take place?

Thank you to someone else for bringing up how A.J. Lee was never good in the ring, after YEARS of experience, but got a pass because "OMG she likes Sega Genesis."

There's no bigger hyprocrite than a "smart" wrestling fan.

Is he? What makes him an athlete? Did he play real sports growing up? Wrestling isn't an athletic event, so it doesn't matter if he can do moonsaults. I assume he probably played hockey and curling, which imo, is just about on the level with gymnastics and soccer.

Why did anyone cut AJ Lee slack? She was horrible at everything in the ring.

"I don't really like this sandwich, it's too dry"

"HEY! What about the ecumenical matters of the world today!? Are those too dry!?"

The ideal wrestler wrestles good, talks good, looks good, and connects with a crowd usually with a good character. You can be missing one or more of those, and be successful.
WWE prizes the good look above all else, which it's full of shit on mainly because they have an extremely narrow view of might constitute a good look.

My point here, is that Eva Marie has no personality or charisma whatsoever. She's a robot. And so, if you have no personality, you had better be a hell of a wrestler to make up for it. She isn't.

Let's bring it to the here and now and replace A.J. Lee with Paige. It's unreal how many of you dudes try to convince yourselves she's good at wrestling. On the mic, even worse.

Comparing Eva Marie to AJ Lee is akin to comparing a Sandwich to World Events in the world of Ithil.

No, in the world of Ithil you randomly bringing up an unrelated wrestler no one was talking about for no reason is just weird and offputting.
AJ was never a good wrestler, but she wasn't a terrible wrestler. She was average in an average time for Divas wrestling. Her real worth was her charisma and speaking skills, a serious rarity in the Divas. She actually spent very little of her 4 year WWE career wrestling.

Had she time travelled and debuted in NXT in 2012/2013 instead of FCW, she might have been a better wrestler. But then again a lot of girls with potential in that period went to waste. I believe Naomi ended up in the wrong time, as did Kaitlyn, Alicia Fox, and plenty of others.

Kinda fucked no? They have a lot riding on those looks though with HHH praying every night she "gets it".

Eva looks good and gets reactions. AJ looked good and got reactions. AJ had terrible in ring skills, terrible promo skills, but she appealed to the group of fans who considered her "one of us" because she was a nerd and had respect for the business. Despite never bothering to improve on anything in the business, and then bailing on it completely.

Both were women lacking in skills that make them a good wrestler, yet AJ was given a pass and Eva wasn't. How that is a somehow unrelated comparison to you strikes me as bizarre. You asked "why should I" cut Eva any slack. And I asked why did people cut AJ slack despite similar awfulness in the ring. That's not related to you?

Here's where you don't see the bigger picture: It doesn't matter if she succeeds or fails. Either way it gets reactions from the crowd and a storyline for Total Divas. This is a no-lose situation for WWE.

she had that match with Emma, also some good matches with her mom in shimmer

Because she was taken off NXT just as the women all got good. Main roster decreases wrestling skill by 50

AJ wasn't exceptional or anything, she wasn't even great, but she had SOME experience. Eva deserves a break because instead of working the formative years of her career on the undercards of some local shindie, she's working them in front of a worldwide audience. But that doesn't mean I won't call a spade a spade. She'll likely improve if she continues to put the work in, but she's currently shit and if WWE are fine with putting her on display at her current skill level, then OK.

The problem here is you are spelling out your own opinion of AJ, then using that as a basis to claim why others liked her. I don't think she had terrible promo skills in the slightest, but you do. So you've eliminated that as a reason to like her, and are onto the old "nerdz gamerz" bullshit.
I can do that with Eva Marie too, and it would be just as disingenuous. Watch:

"People only like Eva Marie because they're porn addicted losers who think cheering her will get them brownie points with girls"

I don't know why people like Eva Marie. I know why I don't, and that's all I can go on.

Next year when Eva hasn't improved, people will still say she's going to be something

And the year after that

And the year after that

And then she'll be retired

Surely it is cosmic irony that, despite AJ Lee being the most pushed woman of the past decade in WWE, the longest reigning champion, and "real wrestler", the most memorable match between women on mainline WWE television in the past decade has been Stephanie McMahon (non-wrestler, 37 year old mother of 3 who was never an active competitor and hasn't been involved in any physical action in a decade) against Brie Bella (scum of the earth, horrible hippie wrestler who leeches off her husband's popularity).

Eva has a chance to be something very special.

I don't remember a single thing about this match.

What about her promos did you, Ithil, find good?

I do (Nikki turning on Brie) if only because it led to one of the worst Divas angles in years and then just randomly ended without payoff or comeuppance

Stunningly bad, and if anything I'm being generous calling it one of the worst Divas angles in years because there honestly isn't a lot that happened in the company in general within the last few years, that lasted months, that was worse.

Can't talk worth a dang, only emotion is "(scream)", wrestling ability on par with the oft-hated Bella Twins.

What's not to like, brehs?

Nah, that honor goes to Melina vs Alicia Fox, since it gave the world one of the greatest wrasslin' gifs ever:

AJ was bad but Bayley is great?

I'm speechless, this thread has gone full WWE creatives

Bayley is better than AJ at everything. Same character to the same demographic but who can actually do stuff in the ring and her weak promos are at least not the 10 minute, droning, monotone head tilting promos with random smarky jabs peppered in for the internet crowd.

It's her house, friend. It's her house.
