SFIV is so much more fun than SFV

That's exactly what people said about SF4 when it launched, by the way.

Because it's true that SFIV introduced many things with new players in mind.

Short curts, ultras so that comebacks were more feasible, fadc that allowed you to do a reversal and still be safe, plenty of moves having projectile invincivility, etc... None of these got in the way of a top player being able to destroy a low level player with neutral game alone (well, once your oponent could use his/her ultra, you could pretty much lose the ability to throw fireballs).

SFV came many years latter, and went much, much, much further than SFIV. I don't need to go again over all the mechanics introduced in SFV, as other posters have gone over those in great detail.

The fact that SFV launched with 8 f*cking frames of input lag should tell you everything you need. How is that now going to get in the way?

And don't tell that teken 7 also launched with 8 frames of lag, because there's a huge difference in 8 frames of lag in a game were moves go from 10 frames startup upwards (tekken), to a game were moves go from 3 frames startup upwards (street fighter).

Point being when it launched. Depth was figured out weeks, if not months after release.
We are a year in a half into SFV, more if you count the betas, and good players are still getting randomed out by Rogs and Lauras.

Besides Punk there hasn't been any player who's shown ability to not get scrubbed out at a high level

Good players are getting whipped because they are performing poorly in some matches not because of the game being too random. If that was the case we wouldn't have the same "pro players" in top 32 at every single tourney.

It won't. But yeah, III is still being played and has tournaments and such while IV is just dead.

Yeah I enjoyed that 3rd strike team tourney in Japan a few months back.

I don't follow pro players as heavily as others here but this doesn't make a ton of sense. Infiltration dominated the first year of the game. Now Punk is dominating the second year of the game. I don't see how this is indicative of anything.

Look, there are some legitimate issues with SFV like how every character can rushdown, 95% of characters can only rushdown, and there isn't much freedom in character playstyles. But the argument that the game is random doesn't hold water when the same players keep placing. There's a lot of consistency.

Tell that to Tekken 7 players. They seem to be awfully concerned with the 8 frames of lag, specifically because it affects sidestepping. There's more to the game than attack startup speed.

Sure. Infil and Du won EVO and CC because they were lucky none scrubbed them.

It appear that capcom really wants an offensive focused game.

...

They seem to have a pretty clear idea of how they want the game to be, so if you don't already like the game, i wouldn't have much hope left. More characters are not going to change the game much.

You and Count are pretty much spot on about everything. (Though Count can fuck right off with proximity buttons lol)

Anyways, I'm at the point where I've seen the writing on the walls and just want to hang it up. Capcom is on this kick where everything needs to be hype. Fast shit that's hard as fuck to react to is just becoming too common now. Certain EX moves and dashes means smart play means little. Just fucking do it. If he wasn't blocking for a split second? Damage! If he was blocking? V trigger cancel into safety AND pressure.

What the fuck? Seriously, what the fuck? Capcom cries about FADC dp's on wake up but then release SFV where just blocking Laura or Nacalli's jab on wakeup can lose you the fucking round?

Where is the fucking logic behind that? Oh, I know. It's hype! Yay! Derp derp derp

8 frames of lag was only the start. The developer has said that they intend to reduce it, althought i don't know what's their target.

What i meant was that releasing a street fighter game with 8 frames of lag seems ridiculous, while releasing a tekken one with the same amount of lag seem better in comparison (like you said, they still considered it bad, and are waiting for it to be lowered).

you can tell how good jab/strong into V trigger is, when you see everyone going for it in between their oponents blocks strings, or on wake up, even though pressing buttons in those situation should be a f*cking terrible idea. Like, you're almost dead, why are you pressing buttons there? But who cares, if it actually hits, you may actually win the round, even if your oponent had a massive life lead. It shouldn't take more than 5-10 seconds to turn it around :p I'll take the chance.

Since we're talking about Mike Ross I should repost this from the FGH thread

I found this

Mike Ross 30 days ago said:
What game would I play? Sf4 was obviously super fun to me, and perhaps I liked that game a little too much. When V came and sucked the joy out of everything I couldn't put a stream on with a straight face.

I don't want to spend an hour+ bitching nonstop about things. It's not productive. I'd rather spend that time playing a game I enjoy. However most people won't find that "entertaining", so I'll play for myself.

If I streamed anything it'd be just xrd or dota...games which this community tends to see as "boring" or "dead community".

I will most likely never have an individual stream again as long as I'm breathing.

Personally, I think he's setting a fine example. It's better to be productive with your time and play games you enjoy. If everyone followed Mike Ross' example we wouldn't have threads like this.

There are other FGs like Smash, Tekken, Injustice, etc. He could stream those too.

Heck if he streamed Rev2, wouldn't he get views from his entertaining personality alone? Look at Max.

And even Punk has stated many time the game is trash
