Shadow Complex available for free on PC, right now. [Up: For real this time]

This is probably the only 360 game that I was really jealous about. My god I have wanted to play this for YEARS, but never had the chance. I couldn't believe it when they announced it was free for PC.

The game is every bit as awesome as I thought it would be. I absolutely love it. How the hell did this never get a sequel? I'm assuming now that they have remastered the original, Shadow Complex 2 is right around the corner (well an announcement at least).

They've GoW: UE it!

his was one of the few XBLA games I played to completion, which says a lot (it means its good!)

If you havent played it, getting on the PC for free is a deal that you would be silly to pass up

Sorry to have to ask again but I have the game on 360, is there an upgrade option for us?

There is! You can download it free on the PC! Now you are upgraded to the remastered version.

Hmmm...I think I figured out the problem. I had to manually add it to my NVIDIA control panel to get it to stop. Game still runs like a 3 legged dog, though.

Strategically mobile made more sense and profit for Epic.

Anybody found a way to disable the motion blur, every time I set it to false in the .ini, the game crashes during startup.

I think the VO isn't a bad recording but the game over modulating the audio in close ups. It only occurs in dynamic close ups/cutscenes. I think it might get patched, or at least I hope so.

Yeah that's the only issue I have, just during cutscenes the vocal volume shoots straight up. I started playing with mouse and keyboard but it's much easier with my xbox one controller

How can this game run so poorly on my 560ti i5-3570k combo? There are other Unreal 3 titles that work much much better than this. Getting 30-40 on 1080p with NO AA settings on. Got 56 average when dropped to 1050p without AA .

So...I finally fired it up after downloading it a couple of days ago and the game wouldn't let me fire...and when I kept trying to rebind Fire to RT (It was already there) it kept asking me to switch it to LT for some reason.

Anyone know what the deal is?

I've completed ~60% of the map now, and the game is pretty good.

It's no Ori, and I'd probably have been more enthusiastic about it had I not played that earlier this year, but it's a decent entry in the genre.

That story though... I rarely use the term "ludonarrative dissonance", but this game epitomizes it.

At least it doesn't overwrite your saves while locking you up from huge amounts of maps areas forbidding you from getting collectibles and 100%...

Great game, finished it 100%, some objects were devilishly hidden.

I love that at the end you are the Terminator.

Lol @ the story though, but I forgive it because it doesn't take itself seriously.

Turned DX11 off because I'm afraid the Bokeh is costing frames, and it's running at a pretty solid 120fps for me at 1080p. It does have the notorious hitching issues that UE3's known for, though.

I'm getting ~122 fps (locked to TV refresh rate) with DX11 on, injected SMAA, at 1080p and some shadow value tweaks. I do get random fps drops as well.

What GPU are you using?

Anybody know if there's a way to launch this without signing into the Epic launcher? I hate having to sign into these publisher launchers to play a game that exists on my computer.

Wow this game is janky. Climbing is a pain to full off. May have to tweak settings, I guess. Did the original look the same way?

It's an old game. How is it janky exactly? No problem climbing here.

The launcher crashed when my download was 70% complete. This isn't a service, it's a dare like getting pizza if you can get past an obstacle course.

I made a .bat with the following:

@echo off
start "Shadow Complex" "%ProgramFiles%\Epic Games\ShadowComplexRemastered\Binaries\Win32\ShadowComplex-Win32-EGL.exe" -AUTH_LOGIN= -AUTH_PASSWORD= -AUTH_TYPE=

However settings dont get saved, but I dont know if it has to do with skipping the launcher.

Also get very annoying stuttering sometimes when moving from room to room... been playing with the settings but I couldnt get rid of it completely.

Sorry, I didnt read anything in the thread...just the thread title and ran to download this..

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread. Christmas came early this year..

Just running choppy in general. Again, could be my settings.

God, whose bright idea was it to map jumping and climbing to the same button? This is beyond frustrating.

I'm confused. The game uses standard wall jumping buttons/procedure. I have had no problems so far with it? What is giving you trouble?

What do you mean by climbing? Other than wall jumping, everything is the control stick only like pretty much every other game.

edit: I mean the game is janky but it's not that crazy.

Finished the game on Normal (100% too). Good game overall.

Guess I'll go ahead and try Insane difficulty since Normal felt too easy most of the time.

If you're playing this through Steam, make sure you load up the Epic launcher to grab the latest patch, which fixes anti-aliasing settings so they don't reset on startup. Also adds some colour filter options and a DX11 toggle!

being able to run and gun using mouse and keyboard/steam controller changes this game so much from how I remember playing it back in the day on Xbox. I feel like a god damn champion just sprinting and jumping through rooms shooting dudes in the face

Hahaha. Yup.
