This game does look pretty interesting, however everything I've seen so far has you running through desolate wastes and enemy encampments, are there any friendly NPC towns?
I watched that hour long twitch stream the devs did a while back and, well, I'm not sure what to think. The game has some cool features but man,it sure seems like a lot of just spamming attack on guys until you get to the main guy in each area then doing the sword sponge thing until they go down. Lots of rinse and repeat. I guess what I was hoping for was a lot more exploration that wasn't just constant combat. In the twitch, they were just constantly fighting guys, jump on a devil dog thing, ride around and hack, jump off then go to the chess board thingy to see what top level guys were left, see that he doesn't like fire and then, well, attack him with fire. The bosses were just so uninspired. Just slightly bigger avatars with more hit points and would charge you. Nothing close to say, Souls or God of War style of boss fights.
Hope I am wrong as I love the LOTR universe but hack n slash gets boring for me after a couple levels and exploring that just means moving farther into the grass until the next wave of enemies is cumbersome. When I think of LOTR RPG I'm seeing GoW 3 size bosses mixed in with epic Ring Wraith chases, stealth missions, battles that fill the screen and a serious leveling system.
The main character looks so fucking generic. Sorry it had to be said.

Is Aragorn generic? Cuz he looks like Aragorn... I'm okay with this.Well I'm glad you bit the bullet then. Was worried someone wouldn't ever say it.

I got the game as a generous modbot gift in the Steam thread.
I love monolith and the LOTR universe, but I loathe the monotonous, simple Assassin's Creed gameplay. It will be interesting to compare and contrast the two and I hope they spice it up a bit.
Pushed it up to September 30th. I'm glad they did it to escape the October death zone but the few weeks after the 30th is already rented out to Forza Horizon 2 for me.
Also I'm sure the guys over at Monolith were fist bumping and throwing one hell of a party at the news of the Dragon Age delay.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is an open-world action-RPG set in Tolkein's Middle-Earth, taking place between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It's got an Assassin's Creed feel in it's movement, a Batman Arkham feel to it's combat, and the open sandbox style of a game like The Witcher or Dragon Age.
Oh please. Haven't played DA yet, but Witcher is like the opposite of "open sandbox".
What does this mean?
Yeah this game does look awesome I hope the lead consoles are the ps4 and x1
Probably comparing it to The Witcher 3. The first two were relatively closed off.Oh please. Haven't played DA yet, but Witcher is like the opposite of "open sandbox".
On comparison yeah they do look a lot alike. Honestly I couldn't really care what the guy looks like as long as stabbing things is fun. And it appears to be based on those gifs.

Sounds better but I have no clue what you're talking about. I wasn't aware that this place was separate from the place in the Hobbit/TLOR stuff. I know nothing about this franchise. Got a link of somewhere to start?
If you have zero interest in LOTR as an IP, whether games, films or books, I highly doubt this one will sway you.Zero interest in The Lord of the Rings franchise. It literally does nothing for me compared to Star Wars or Marvel.
I like the developers previous work and hope this delivers. No way am I hyped for this though. Every LotR game had been a colossal disappointment for me. I'm in wait and see mode now.

But that's EXACTLY the problem.
There are multiple uniforms in the full gameWasn't super interested in the game until I caught the latest story trailer. Then I watched some E3 vids, and now I want.
And, yea, tempted to preorder to get the alternate skin because I don't like the default look, which is a nutty thought.
