Shadow of Mordor deserves more attention. Come in and be hyped with me.

Definitely picking this up. Birthday in October too.

I want this, Dragon Age and WWE in October. FIFA 15 in September and GTA whenever its out and I'm sorted.

A few more screenshots. They aren't representative of the image quality, as they seem to be supersampled, but you can still get a glimpse into the great quality of the lighting, textures, character models, etc.

So all the gameplay videos I'm seeing are very repetitive... What do the rest of you guys think? It seems to be, kill, kill, hypnotize, kill, hypnotize, kill try to kill leader.

They said in one of the videos they're showing a lot of the nemesis stuff right now because they feel it's their biggest differentiator, but that a lot of exploration and mission variety is really important to them.

It screams Peter Molyneux hype.

This and since it's now less than a month away from Destiny and needs to fill the month and a half gap till Dragon Age I think it's in a pretty precarious position. It could deliver, and let it be said that I hope it does, but I'm tempering the hype. So that if it does under deliver then I can just move on to (hopefully) better things.

Hell yes I am in. It's Assassin's Creed meets Batman Arkham with a LotR skin, what more could you ask for?

Hell it's even got Troy Baker, isn't held back by last gen ports, and is 1080p and probably 60fps on PS4.

Whats going on in here?

Good god!
Why havent I been hyped for this game......It comes out in October?
Damn, this jumped from unknown status to my most anticipated release in two pages(100ppp)

I want to be hyped for it, because the combat and nemesis system look great. Not to mention troy baker and nolan north in the same game.

But

Mordor looks so boring, that I really don't have any interest in exploring this world.

I'll buy it next summer when the dry spell hits.

OT: do you have a GTR?

Mine is a 2012 White Pearl Premium with some mods(Cobb, Custom tune, injectors,Meisterschaft Exhaust)

I'm getting about 625BHP at the wheels and ~10.6 secs at the 1/4 mile ^-^

OT response:
Hey Klee, I wish. My initials are GTR. ;) I'm a single gaming Dad so whatever money I have - well, you get the idea. Just got my son a Vita.

Enjoy that beast! Post some pics!

I'm on the fence with this game. To be blunt I love Lord of the Rings and I loathe Assassin's Creed. I'll have to wait until it comes out and I see the actual game instead of trailers and pieces set aside by the marketing team.

I actually have had the opposite experience. I thought it would be pretty repetitive, until I found how deep they're intending the game to be. There are multiple approaches to each enemy and boss/sub-boss. You need to know their strengths and weaknesses, which can change through encounters with you. In the 2-hour video (I think it was that one) they had 3 devs playing 3 different play styles so you could see how they differed and affected the game world. Each player can wind up with different bosses to fight in the end depending on how you went about missions. At least that was my take on it. It's highly ambitious!

There's plenty of gameplay released, they haven't been shy about showing the game, it's mostly combat gameplay shown though.

Annoyingly, it releases on the same date as Forza Horizon 2, which is going to eat my free time for most of early October (with some breaks for Driveclub, most likely). Then late October is a goddamn traffic jam of new releases, so I probably won't be able to fit this in until some time later. Definitely want to pick it up at some point, but probably won't until the inevitable drought of new releases next spring/summer, though.

I don't know why exactly but this screams "RENTAL!!!" and "PS+!!" to me. Strange, I know since PS+ hasn't given out a retail game yet and all, but that's how it feels. Games does look fun though.

Good to have you! Game looks fantastic.

Damn right, I just have to decide which platform i want this for.

nah it comes out september 30th in the US
I take it you are in the US.

Australia here, im gonna have to wait to pay $80+ for the game.

P.S I never buy games in Australia retail, we get abused, everything online so im not even gonna get to play it day 1.

But this looks absolutely amazing....real talk, why isnt this more popular yet.
If I didnt come check in this thread id probably have no idea this game was coming so soon, and would probably overlooked it everytime i saw a poster for it or any sort of promotional material.

I aint a LOTR fan, so thats why i didnt initially take to the game, but seriously this looks like a good game in any universe.

Excitement level 100!

Is it feasible for you to make a US account and buy digitally?

The nemesis system alone, makes me think i could go through the game multiple multiple times, if only to see how which orc ends up on different playthroughs.

It also seems like it would have a pretty long campaign and/or a whole lot of side things to keep one entertained for a long time.
I dont see this being a rental for me.

Actually yes I can, thats probably what im gonna do.
Just get a digital copy, since im not planning on returning the game any time soon. Might as well.

Game looks like it has has a lot of potential and has been on my radar. October is just loaded, don't know if I can squeeze it in with so many other releases. This is the kind of game that could get looked over with the deluge. Maybe have to wait for the Steam sale.

I think it looks pretty sweet, unfortunately I don't have a next gen console yet and the last gen version being dummied down isn't appealing.

Yeah, it seems incredibly dynamic. Some enemies of high rank may dynamically start dueling each other. If a lower rank one killed the higher rank, he will be promoted. Another group that are allies may have one betray the other which will affect the game world. It's all kind of crazy.

I haven't watched or read anything of the TLOR/Hobbit books/movies ever. This game interests me but I feel I would need to spend like a month doing all of that before I could go in for the story and enjoy it.

The game interests me but I don't know if I want to do that.

I wouldn't think so, as the character does not play a part in either books. You really just need to know the state of the land between the Hobbit and TLOR, which a simple wiki could clear up. Considering the game takes place in Mordor, they can't have characters of either book make an appearance (they aren't in Mordor, nor would they travel there).

EDIT: There are some characters that they could have come in, but I don't think they're going that route.

In the footage I've seen it looks like the orc's are randomly generated so no two playthroughs will be the same!

Sounds better but I have no clue what you're talking about. I wasn't aware that this place was separate from the place in the Hobbit/TLOR stuff. I know nothing about this franchise. Got a link of somewhere to start?

Well, the game takes place between The Hobbit and LOTR, but it's not necessarily directly connecting those stories. It should be fairly standalone, though obviously there are a lot of elements that people who are familiar with that universe will recognize and connect the dots with.

And, who knows, it may get you interested in the universe and make you want to watch the movies and/or read the book.

This game has great animations, and if there is one thing that I value extremely highly in my games, it's animations.

Those gifs are awesome.

So I could go in with zero knowledge and enjoy this then. Do we know if there is an AC style in-game history/backstory thing?
