Shadow of Mordor deserves more attention. Come in and be hyped with me.

This is probably my most anticipated game at the moment. The very first video I saw had me convinced so I've been on a media blackout since. Great news that it's been brought forward.

Was there ever a resolution to the whole "Shadow of Mordor Accused of Using Assassin's Creed 2 Assets" thing?

When i read that i kinda put the game off my radar. It's out amongst such stiff competition in October. I just figured this would be a game i would wait to come out, see the reviews and impressions then maybe get if they were higher than i expect.

Last night I watched all that 35 minute video and it pretty much convinced me I will love this, it will be encounters that last lots of time maybe half an hour, the combat looks lots of fun, the gore is delicious, the graphics are very nice and Talion walking animations are something to behold he walks really badass.

Also even the developer got surpised that in one part of the vid there was a spear thrown at Talion that missed but it looked badass since you ddin't see the enemy, that spear passed flying lol, dev was all "Wow look at that spear"

my friend texted me the trailer for this game months ago, so I am indeed hyped. wish it was co-op but not that I know of.

Sorry for the tiny picture, but how cool is this fold out box / alternate cover art

I'm all in on this game, I have been hyped since the Game Informer reveal and initial trailers. I've kept away from recent footage but hearing all the positive impressions really pleases me.

Also I had no idea it got brought forward a week, I literally could not be happier, thanks for alerting me to this OP, bring on Late Sept / Early October :D Now it won't be fighting for my time with Alien Isolation.

games are expensive in Australia T_T
Is it bad that I knew you were in Australia before I read the spoiler? :(

This was pretty much nonsense all along. There are countless video comparisons on youtube. While there are some animations that look similar, they are still different. Furthermore, a lot of these animation-situations are pretty simple and don't offer many options for different movement at all.
Hanging down a ledge for example would most likely not look much different if i did it than when you did.

I had no idea this game was related to the LOR series. I will rewatch it all. Should I include the Hobbit series too?

Thanks OP, you definitely got me hyped.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor?

Definitely do watch the Hobbit series. They are better than LotR in some ways.

My fiancée and I are currently watching all of them, too, haha.

I don't want to watch nothing concerning Middle Earth bucause I fear I would get sick of the setting and general themes by the time the games comes out, I want a fresh experience with the game :P

I was thinking i'd re-watch The Hobbit 1 and 2 since SoM plays in between Hobbit and LotR.

He must really know nothing about TLOR.
Yeah, thats what I thought too right after i posted.

I am excited for this game.

I think at least there are some interesting design choices to make combat feel like it has repercussions. Making the AI a whole lot more interesting.

I also think the game looks awesome.

I've never been anything approaching "hyped" about this game, but it is the first LotR game that I've ever been the least been interested in, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick it up at some point. The GI cover story a while back got my attention, I forget why. The video that made it appear to be a re-skinned Assassins Creed put a dent in my desire, but didn't turn me off completely.

So ultimately while the gameplay concepts seem neat, it's hard to be hype for this because I don't really think orc are cool and it seems 95% orc. I could get it for $27 and I'm still like ehhhhhhh... If this were about a ghost controlling samurai factions, a native american shaman putting up resistance against spanish/english invaders, or a warlock taking down napoleon or something I'd be all about it.

that one in particular made me super hyped for this game!

oh man i cannot wait!

Agreed, because in that movie you can see how they behave among them, lots of tension between them, who is in charge, others disagree, etc, now imagine in the game putting against each other will be really cool lol.

"How about dem legs, they don't need those"

lol, gotta love the Orcs.

game looks very promising, but I'm going to have to wait for RPS' judgement before I decide about a purchase

Im in a moment of my life that seriously don't give a fuck about reviews or other people opinions on games, I bought Wolfenstein thinking I would like it and I end up not liking it, bought TLoU:R thinking I would like it and I love it and I will buy this one too because I think I will like it and if not well shit I trade it in for something else.

Is really nice to be surprised with a game liek the old days, but I can do that because there is a place where I can get maybe 60% of the cost and sometimes I don't even lose when trades.

This game seems like a winner to me.

We'll, you cant really not like TLoU.

Do we know who's the main enemy? or I completly missed or they haven't shown him yet, or is Sauron straight up?
Looks like it's Sauron.
Revenge on him seems to be Celebrimbor's main goal.

I know, game is awesome :)

Sauron should be the End boss :O

Well, there's this Black Hand guy who killed Talion's family, and since he's voiced by Nolan North I believe he's an important character.

Oh yeah, he seems like a powerfull foe.

All this for us to explore, oh my....

Huh. Didn't know this was open world. If I like the hobbit will I like this game? I mean, I haven't watched all the LOTR films but I have seen the Hobbit duo.

You must have read the LOTR books in school, though, right?
