Shadow of Mordor deserves more attention. Come in and be hyped with me.

Seriously doubt that. Likely used a PC in the first video. They would want to show it in its best light, so they probably wouldn't have used Xbox One.

I only thought it was that as it had xbox buttons, but i guess they just used a xbox control on the pc !

With the last installment of The Hobbit coming out this December, I can't believe they are not going to release it then and use the movie as free marketing. I mean, seeing a trailer for the flick followed by one for this game is an instant sell. Also, An Unexpected Journey and Desolation will be in heavy rotation on TV to hype up the movie so there is a perfect place to run your add. Factor in parents buying Christmas gifts for their kids. ...

As much as I am getting excited for this game I think a Dec 15th release date would double sales and ensure a sequel.

They don't need to delay a game 2.5 months just to ride some cross-marketing opportunity, all they have to do is air some commercials in december.

Also, "double the sales" is a pretty rough guestimate.

Looks very good.

But I'm not a huge fan of so how many games have see-enemies-through-walls X-ray visions. Why does every game these days have an X-ray mode? I just bought inFamous First Light and they've added an X-ray ability to the series. Gah.

I'd be way more hyped for this if it didn't have the lotr baggage. I can't help but think the story will go down the shitter near the end to link it to something.
This. The LOTR license really kills my hype for this game.

If Monolith wasn't devving this game I would have no interest at all.

Batman is turning into the new Call of Duty, where every dev wants to copy its mechanics into games they don't belong.

In more ways than just Detective Mode....

There are a few nags I'm having.

- There seems to be only two times of day: an overcast day and a rainy night. The rainy night looks really nice but I think the overcast day looks a little ugly. I'm hoping there are more and we are just for some reason only seeing two.

- The latest build definitely has quite a bit of screen tearing, which I really dislike. I'm hoping it's just a relatively old build and they've negated most if not all of that.

- This isn't a big thing, but I really wish they used an actual bokeh-based depth-of-field, instead of a rather ugly blur that looks right out of last gen.

I hope there's more to it ! They have only been showing one section of Mordor and only really concentrating on the Nemesis system ! There's another 4 areas of Mordor they have yet to show maybe they have different weather effects? Would be good to see some snow in Mordor !

Do you have a source on the "4 areas"? I have been curious about how many areas total are in the game. 5 areas total would sound good to me.

Yeah, snow would be awesome.

As far as I know the creative director has said 8 areas and they've only shown two. Probably in the Jace Hall stream, as there was community Q&A.

He also says that they have shown a lot of the nemesis system because they think that is something that will give it a lot of re-playability and is unique in that space. It will still have a traditional campaign before that part and after.

Now that's interesting. Maybe it's just that there are only two times of day in the Sea of Nurn, but it will be different depending on the area.

No sauce just me guessing as there's about 4 regions in Mordor they are Gorgoroth, Núrn, Lithlad,Eastern Desolation, Núrn is a big area and could be split into the Sea of Núrn and the plains of Núrn or something ! The area of the black gates been shown to be playable im sure but i cant remember what video its in

Ah, I see. Well hopefully benny_a is remembering correctly and there's eight areas. The more the better!

I don't think there's anything to worry about regarding the PC version. Monolith has been making PC games forever. I'm sure if you have a great PC that would be the best version to get.

Although I guess there's those few Playstation-exclusive missions.

Sucks if people are playing it on360 or ps3 and pc looks like its been moved back !
Wish people in the uk could just get it on the 30th like everywhere else in the world !

It's not moved back for PC.

PS3 and 360 are now November 18 in the Americas and November 21 in the UK.

coming out on my birthday. Haven't followed the game at all past the reveal beyond hearing incredibly positive reactions, so.... here's hoping it's good!

The way Monolith's approaching death is really interesting. If an enemy kills you, even if their just a lowly grunt, they will be promoted through the orc hierarchy. You can have multiple encounters with the same enemy throughout the game, and they'll even have some flavor dialogue about your last encounter. They have randomly generated buffs and character traits, like a fear of fire or being impervious to your wraith powers. Some will fight to the death, while others beg for mercy or attempt to flee.

Has there ever been anything like that in an open-world game before?

I think I will wait for after its release, screentear is unacceptable to me.

Will need some impressions from posters here.

Yeah, it's annoying.

ya i do not know what is going on because there was screen tearing during an ign preview but they confirmed it must have been the way they captured it because they saw none, so confuse

I think is they dectivated v-sync in order to render at 1080p60 without lowering the detail. But it's just a guess, I'm not that tech-savvy.

Hoping this turns out well. One of the few games on my radar this year.

It's a shame that the biggest feature in the game, the Nemesis system, is really hard to effectively explain or showcase quickly and simply. It seems WB realized this early on, leading to several 30-60 minute sit-downs where you get to see how it all works.

The best thing that could happen is that it turns out great, and positive word of mouth gets around to people who don't seek out gameplay videos so that it actually sells.

This is looking very good so far!

Are there villages or something like that in the game? I mean locations without hostile enemies. I always like that in open world games, some rest area's or something like that. And are there other NPC's outside of orcs? (aside from the key story-related characters).

Looks like a decent sized map,
