Shadows of the Damned (Grasshoppper/EA Partners) Announcement Trailer

Looks like a crazy version of Resident Evil 4 with demons. Could be cool.

Yeah, I’m sorry but that looked absolutely terrible. How disappointing....

If it weren’t for the people involved no one would give a crap about this.

Wow looked like complete shit.

I have mild interest because of the directors, but if I didn't know about them I wouldn't have even given this game's trailers another chance.
Wordage.

I was expecting a Killer 7-esque artstyle, very dissapointed.

Looks pretty cool actually, some small flaws in the trailer, but it has me interested.

Dusk Till Dawn comment was pretty accurate. It has the over the top feel of a Suda game for sure.

I mean

Yeah

That's kind of how shit works

How many initial game trailers do you think are amazing knowing absolutely nothing about the developers or publishers?

It's Mikami and Suda, so anyone who takes the cheese seriously just missed the point.

I see the cheese, but it's not nearly enough to be awesome. It looks like a Dead Space mod. Anyway, I thought the same about Vanquish and now I can't wait for it, so I hope Milami can blow my mind again.

Yikes that looked rough and unfun.

Still exactly as split as before between the knowledge of Suda51's lack of talent and Mikami's involvement.

you youngins and your RE4's... man that reminded me of Nightmare Creatures for the o'l Playstation....

at first I wasn't interested with the whole motorcycle thing...but that gameplay and atmosphere reminded me of NC....man for a Playstation one game, that scared the shit out of me back in the day....

I would love if they ever did a remake of part one....what happened to those developers?

I was hoping for something more survival-horror oriented.

Yeah so was I, just interested to see how expectations matched up to what we saw here. Seemed like it was billed as straight horror titled when we've heard about it in the past iirc.

Hmm given the talent I have full confidence in this. That said, it doesn't really look that great so far. I like that it's cheap looking, that totally works, but the gameplay (little though we've seen) doesn't quite inspire confidence.

I bet Mikami and Suda are not as involved with the game as we want. Producer and other crap.

Mikami is the Creative Producer, and Suda is the Writer/Director of the game. They're both heavily involved in the development process.

Did anyone else get a ShadowMan vibe from this trailer? Need to see some more gameplay before I jump in but it certainly looks interesting. I was expecting Zombies. :lol

For some reason, when the protagonist (Garcia?) pulled the drink out of the vending machine whatever, it brought me some hope that this game may not suck.

Cautiously optimistic.

I don't mind the graphics, it's the designs. The tagline is "Creative geniuses Suda 51 (No More Heroes) and Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil) present an all-new vision of hell unlike anything seen before." Then the bad guys look like shadow skeletons with headlight type eyes and a demon that looks like it came right out of Onimusha. In fact most of the design really reminds me of Onimusha.
I agree. Looks very run-of-the-mill, and the gunplay does not look that satisfying.

the art design is quite disappointing, but it looks like it's almost riffing on 70's horror exploitation (i hope) so that'll definitely give it some weight. the music is fucking great, you can watch yamaoka rehearse it live with his band here. i really hope it's able to distinguish itself gameplay wise. grasshopper don't have the greatest reputation for solid mechanics, but if they're innovative and interesting enough then i don't care. i really hope suda doesn't just borrow re4 elements and leave it at that because he'll be immediately outclassed.

This game is actually about suave japanese businessmen taking stupid gaijin's money and fucking them over.

yeah this had me, too. could simply be an editing thing, we don't know how prevalent those touches will be, but i hope a lot. it looked very suda-esque, moreso than anything else in the trailer.

this game game actually makes perfect sense given suda's supposed fascination with western culture, and if it is indeed born from 70's american horror then the fact it's from a japanese perspective makes it a very potentially interesting concoction. we'll see i suppose.

what are you talking about there were demons and shit, everybody loves demons

I'm not really that enthused. The main character is iffy and it seems more like Dead Rising X Onimusha than anything else. I was expecting something a little more out there.
