ge-man said:He didn't even direct Pikmin. He was the producer (but I believe it was based on his own concept). The directors were Shigefumi Hino and Masamichi Abe. The people who say that Miyamoto is a has been or lost his touch need to realize that he hasn't directed anything since 98 (he was an unoffical director on OOT).
Miyamoto said:"Donkey Kong Country proves that players will put up with mediocre gameplay as long as the art is good."
Shigeru Miyamoto didnt like Donkey Kong Countrey!?!?
JackFrost2012 said:If so +1 Miyamoto
Donkey Kong Country is a piece of TRASH!
JackFrost2012 said:I've never figured out what was so good about that music. A lot of DKC fans seem to think it's the second coming of Christ.
lol where did that come from?Kabuki Waq said:DKC>>>>>>>>>>>>shit>>>>>>>>>>>>>SMS

i think there are some elitist attitudes and some anti-Rare motivation in this thread.
Newsflash to all of the delusional Nintendo fans: Just because RARE no longer makes games for Nintendo consoles does not mean that the previous games they made are any worse because of this fact.
what did they do? Asked to be bought out 100% or be sold? doesn't sound too bad to me.While I am bitter about the Rare situation and hate them at the moment for what they did
efralope said:I think the main problem with the game (even though I LOVED it back in the day) is that the "secrets" and "full completion" part seem more tedious than even the "collect-a-thons" (which I geniunely enjoyed in Banjo-Kazooie)...
Finding secrets in DKC involved taking risks with lives, pretty sucky if you ask me, and a lot of them involved pits and stuff...

Optimistic said:That's because Rare pretty much invented the collectathon, and at the time it was a new, fresh and original idea. After playing the countless collectathons that came after it, it should be no surprise that this element is tedious now.
I never said DKC was a bad game. I, if not love, thoughroly enjoy it and remember it fondly. Rare and their standing has nothing to do with how I view the game. I still think Yoshi's Island is a better game but that has nothing to do with rare-nintendo relationship, it has been my fave 2d platformer since the first day I played it (which wasn't untill the N64 era, I had already played the heck out of DKC DKC2 and enjoyed them both).Optimistic said:Newsflash to all of the delusional Nintendo fans: Just because RARE no longer makes games for Nintendo consoles does not mean that the previous games they made are any worse because of this fact. Donkey Kong Country did not receive rave reviews across the board just for its nice graphics. Stop deluding yourselves, DKC was an excellent game.
Kobun Heat said:The Miyamoto quote in question is the most negative thing I've ever seen attributed to him. When I interviewed him a year ago, I had just been playing Star Fox Adventures and tried to get him to say SOMETHING bad about it. The most he would admit was that the collectathon bullshit was 'a little extreme.'
Basically. He's the public face of Nintendo's game design. But actually he says that he's not an easy guy to work with, no matter what kind of Santa Claus public image he has. That was in the interview too.Borat said:Ah, you did that NOM interview? To be honest, I think he's more of a PR these days. He's not gonna shout off like that again.
