Shigeru Miyamoto's Roundtable for E3 09

Oh, and Kotaku's liveblog is getting all kinds of shitty.
They're basically not reporting anything about questions and answers:

8:23
Miyamoto says that every project they do pushes the wiis limits. That's what they do.
8:22
New super mario brow wii can't support online because is using up all of the wiis processing power
8:21
On to another question
8:17
Oh he's hinting about the new save system again.
8:14
New devices will give birth to new creative things
8:12
It doesn't sound like miyamoto is totally buying into the idea of the vitality sensor

It's like a 2nd grader is blogging :lol :lol .

No. Dragon Quest X was a December event held by Square-Enix. The October Conference was DSi, Punch-Out, Tales of Graces, Sin & Punishment 2, Mario & Luigi 3, etc.

Damn, you're right. Forgot about that, don't know why.

Or Zelda being pregnant in Spirit Tracks and you have to build train tracks to the hospital so her baby can be delivered.
Plot twist: the baby is Ganon reincarnated.

Brawl has 4 Player online Mario Kart 8 and have higher graphical and physics requirement...WTF.

There's no fucking way NSMB is overpowering the Wii. If the Gamecube can do Rogue Squadron II at launch, the Wii can fuckin handle NSMB w/ online.

I have a feeling that lazy Nintendo engineers are whispering falsehoods into Miyamoto's trusting ears.

Miyamoto: We must put online in this game. It is a necessity.

Lazy Engineer: Sorry Miyamoto. There is not enough power for this. Is it time for break?

7:25 p.m.: Q: How do you feel about Nintendo's E3 show last year and is this year's presence a response to that?

A: Last year, Miyamoto really didn't uphold his part of the instrument playing on stage, he jokes. "If I pick up an instrument, I tend to lose focus," he says. That's actually pretty funny. Last year, Miyamoto says, they had so much to announce that they really didn't go into it. "Unfortunately, there are situations where Nintendo's products don't really fit with that kind of presentation. Or even on the show floor where people have to line up for a long period of time." Last question.

Twilight Princess was the best selling Zelda game since Ocarina of Time.

Eventually. But just like Galaxy has had great sales, but still isn't a Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii, or New Super Mario Bros. DS, I'd expect they want to figure out if they can get one of their two master properties - Mario and Zelda - to click with the general population on the Wii.

You better believe that one of the primary reasons New Super Mario Bros. Wii exists is because of the absurd sales of the DS version.

Fuck lord of the rings. If they go for more of that boar battle, slow motion cinematic, face off on a bridge shit I'll be so pissed off. Fuck Ocarina of Time as well. If Aonuma doesn't channel Link to the Past, Links Awakening, Oracles, Majora or something new, fun, whimsical and charming in his new game I'm going to tear it a new hole in every Zelda thread from its release onward and will probably end up permabanned.

What?

Also, dunno what you're mad about. You're getting another awesome WW style game for the DS. :D

I don't mind playing it local multi, actually. Although I think this is the kind of game that begs for WiiSpeak support if it had online :)

Miyamoto said he wanted to unveil Zelda this E3, but they decided not to, possibly because it wasn't ready.

Matt is going to have to clarify by what he meant by "Older Link". That could mean anything - Link with a beard, TP Link a few years later, Link with a wife, kids and a mortgage, Battle-Hardened Fierce War Veteran Link, Horndog Going Through a Midlife Crisis Link or Crotchety Racist Old Man Link.

We just don't know!
:lol :lol

Wow, that was lame. Hopefully Miyamoto allows the Zelda pic to be released. I don't know what the hell the purpose would be to just show it to the press.

I knew NSMB wasn't online as soon as I saw the bit in the conference. It's something they would have mentioned had it been included.

Couple that with IGN's comments about it probably not being any fun with one player and being level designed with multiplayer in mind is what I find disappointing though.

That wasn't horrible. Found out a little information on NSMB Wii, found out Zelda is in development.. and Miyamoto even wanted to show it.

No Pikmin, or Kirby is depressing, but it was OKAY.. time for sleep.

Sounds a lot like LBP in that regard which is exactly why LBP is online. I hope it's not too late for them to rethink this. I can't think it'll be easy to convince my friends to play this with me when they come by, especially with all the new M+ sports games that will be out by then :(

7:31 p.m.: That's it. Megaton avoided. Zelda picture was nice. How sad. I'm hyped about a picture.

7:30 p.m.: Last Question -Q: What game have you played other than something you worked on that you found inspirational?

A: I did work on this for NES, but Will Wright's Sim City is something that had a big impact on me, Miyamoto says.

What fuckface asked that last stupid question about "lool wuts ur favorite game" over "HEY WHERE IS PIKMIN?"
yeah, those are fucking elementary school questions. Might've well have asked him his favorite color or favorite food.

Five minutes later, the last journalist was found lynch-mobbed in the hallway by a group of angry gamers with leaves taped to their heads.

So basically it's Zelda Four Swords Adventures on the GCN all over again but without the bitching about connectivity.

Wow, this was truly one for the ages. I'm glad we found out more about the design for Galaxy 2, New! SMB Wii (barring that cringe worthy comment about online play), and Zelda (lol). Still though all of this is moot without the new Zelda art. Is it weird that I'm hyped to see just that much right now? :lol

THE QUESTION HAS BEEN ANSWERED BEFORE THIS ROUNDTABLE. IT WAS LINKED TWICE.

There is no fucking way NSMB maxes out the wii? Have these guys seen Red Steel 2? So amazing. NSMB Wii looks like a god damn DS game.

Those questions seemed so shitty they're staged. I'm surprised someone didn't ask 'What are the names of your dog and cat? And what do they think about Natal?'

Bingo. Hence it's brilliant if you have people to play with, not so much if you don't.

If Nintendo is really expecting NSMB to sell more Wii's, maybe they should include online. Then you potentially need up to 4 Wiis instead of just one.
