Will keep an eye out. That licensing issue is the bane of my existence. Guess I'll have to deal with a bootleg copy forever staining my Godzilla collection.

It would've been nice to have both, but I'll take the original Return over nothing for sure.

A poster on the previous page detailed the legal wrangling of it all well. It does suck though.

Interesting news right after Shin Godzilla; Toho just registered a domain name for Godzilla-Anime.com.

I have to see whose handling first before I get too excited.

And Yoji Shinkawa shared this two days ago:

I'd watch it.

Nerv making a mecha Godzilla lol.

Now, i need MOAR Godzilla collab here. Imagine Kawamori making Gojira as one of the Protoculture trying to destroy humanity in Macross Universe.^_^ DECULTUREEEE

I'd have seen it already but no US release yet

We are fucked.
Not even out there on the Internet anywhere so we either wait for the Japanese home release or probably Nov or January US release and even that will be limited(so im likely screwed even more here in Alabama.).

How long do Japanese movies typically take from theaters to home release?

Man those spoilers sound fucking awesome. Especially how they deal with the big G.

Will definitely check this out once it's available to buy on digital or blu Ray.

Anno and Higuchi are big fans of old school special effects, so I'm sure they gave it their best shot. They sound happy about how the CG turned out though.
It sure fooled me so if they were going for an oldschool look I'd say they succeeded.

this was first Godzilla movie for me and already watched twice. I really fuckin love this.
However, the theme and plot are very domestic I think. If half of global audience like this, that would be huge success.
this is a kind of post-earthquake Japanese
literature.

Fits with some base themes of the series it seems. The original film was fairly domestic in themes also being that it was post-atomic bomb commentary.

I want to be upset that Godzilla is completely CG but I'm so impressed that I can't be. I was certain it was practical with CGI enhancement.

Bravo, Shin Godzilla CGI team.

The original Godzilla composer Akira Ifukube also reused cues or whole songs from his other works.

Yeah, it's a regular occurrence with some people for sure (see James Horner).

It's just that that particular cue is so embedded within Evangelion for me that I just can't help being slightly amused.
