***SHOCKER** Conker delayed AGAIN!!

I would be lead to believe that this delay has more to do with marketing than Rare not having the game finished.

Releasing a game at the right time is crucial.

For instance, I haven't played it yet, but I here Tron 2.0 is a pretty fun game. And, probably could have sold much better if some marketing genius didn't decide to release it on Nov. 9th!

Thing is that Xbox doesn't have very many first party games left at all. This isn't Nintendo 64 style staggering so every first party game gets a few months of uncontested sales.

Unless they are trying to make this game the ultimate Xbox Live experience, I can't see how the game could be unfinished.

I suspect that's precisely what they're trying to do. At this point, it seems to me more like a ploy to deliver a few more Xbox Live subscriptions Microsoft's way and serve as a giant tech demo than actually being anything particularly new on the single-player front.

What else is there to say? What was the last Rare game that was not delayed? WTF is up with Rare? Before they announce a release date for a game, they should just add six months to their estimate so as to avoid all of these "delays."

Fuck, Rare sucks.

Sad thing is the probably already do that...

What are the chances that Rare is really changing a tremendous amount of stuff about this game?

Rare's games, aside from the two released this generation, have historically been very much polished and clean -- the framerate's have sucked, but let's forget that. Usually, they are worth the wait, but I'm not sure about this one. Without Nintendo's quality control, do you guys think Conker will deliver like the first one did?

Perhaps Rare just has a some weird thing for releasing killer games very late in a system's life.

Have I ever mentioned how funny it is to hear xbox fans use old nintendo fan lines?

man truly pathetic....I dont understand this company. Rare was my favorite developer under Nintendo during the SNES and N64 regime.

DKC 1, 2, 3
Blast Corps
Killer Instinct
Goldeneye 007
Perfect Dark
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Jet Force Gemini
Diddy Kong Racing
Micket's USA Speedway

WTF HAPPENED?

um, wasn't it slated for like mid '04, then finally settled on a fall '04 date, then a spring '04 date, then a summer '04 date, now a late summer date?

it's funny isn't it :lol

I still remember how some people said Rare will be more productive without Nintendo's tight control. :lol

also how Rare will not create kiddy games like Grabbed by the Ghoulies without Nintendo :lol

Using someone else's fan lines doesn't even make sence to me?

I have no idea what old nintendo fans have had to say in the past and I really don't care to. I have never owned a nintendo and have never played bad fur day.

I played the Xbox demo of conker and thought it was ok. Nothing that special, just ok.

I'm just stating my opinion based on what I have seen happen to many games in the past year or so.

Being an Xbox fan has nothing to do with it.

actually that's not the most irnoic part.

The most ironic part is, if this happened when Rare's still Nintendo's 2nd party, this will somehow become Nintendo's fault. :lol

If they were going to take this long, they should've re-made PD. That game would've benefited from the boost in power. Conker on the other hand is fine as it is.

God bless Microsoft, they truly are in the industry for the gamers and not the money.
You see, Microsoft realized that March was a jam-packed month full of gaming goodness and that gamers all around the world would be emptying their wallets. Microsoft gave us a break and have allowed for our wallets to recooperate for what will be an amazing March, thanks MS!

Your experience or intent is not really relevent. It's an observation of a funny/ironic (in the sense of the crappy song) trend, nothing more.

But the reason it's funny is that the reason you (and others) gave is exactly the reason that was always speculated as the source of Nintendo and Rare's constant delays in the N64 days. Ie, that it is somehow better for business.

I think we can all see at this point that it is not, in fact, better for business.

Buahahahahahahahah!

I don't think so. But everyone is entitled to their opinion

i'm pretty sure I saw promos from Microsoft somewhere that kind of followed that...

I remember people coming into Best Buy where I worked thinking it was out back in August, but I had to tell them it wouldn't be out till October or November...

I think it was in those XBox promo mini-mags that Microsoft places in retail stores...

then I'm pretty sure we were hearing a March date or something like that, and now it's summer...

I refuse to believe the date was always Summer '05 and this is the first delay...

How can you compare the industry today to the industry in the "N64 days"?

The only simularity in this scenario is Rare?

My experience or intent may not be relevent to you but niether are your comparisons to old Nintendo fans.

Conker was announced for March 2005 during the last E3. That's the only release date that was ever given for this game AFAIK.

I'm sorry but I have to ask. What's out in March that is so packed for Xbox? On my calendar the next Xbox must have title is out in June, which is San Andreas.

The game was first shown in it's current form at E3 last year where the March date was given. Mabye people assumed it would be coming out earlier, around the holiday or whatever, but I don't recall anyone ever giving any earlier dates.

Now it's clearly been delayed, but until MS or Rare give a real date it's silly to go through a OMG DELAYED AGAIN thread every time EB changes it's date (though I suspect people enjoy it too much not to).

It's possible the previous version (the one that looked like crap) had an earlier date in 2004 at some point, but since that was scrapped it's hardly as if they've been working on the same game all this time.

Only thing I care about next month is Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

What's so great about that list? Only thing in it that looks good is Chaos Theory.

:lol

Well.. that list is pretty pathetic IMO. And that comes from a Xbox-fan.

Guess my PS2 and GC will be getting the playtime next month (RE4, MGS3, GT4).

Are you kidding me?

Your tastes must be pretty narrow if you find that list of games pathetic. Brothers in Arms at least looks awesome and has gotten great press, Phantom Dust got great reviews in Japan and is only $20, Cold Fear looks pretty good and Republic Commando is also coming out on the 3rd.

Just for you I'll do this.

Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 - no no no...
Major League Baseball 2K5 - I'm not american
MVP Baseball 2005 - ^ / EA
Phantom Dust - this is interesting
WWE WrestleMania XXI - like I said, I'm not american
Cold Fear - I'll play da real deal instead (RE4)
Mega Man Anniversary Collection - nah..
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe - no online no buy
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown - I don't play games like the RS's
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect - hideous
Dragon Ball Z: Sagas - :lol
Myst IV Revelation - never played Myth before
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory - hated Pandora Tomorrow

What can I say, I'm on a riot! :lol

When MS bought Nintendo's share, they also bought the Stamper bros. share, effectively purchasing the entire company.

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect - hideous

You're a heartless man. Those are wonderful titles. The Xbox MMAC gets 4 CONTROL SCHEMES! We got 1 and didn't like it!
