Should I sell my PS5?

Dreams of a world where inflated review scores save studios
I purchased it on day 1 to play exclusive single player games, 4 years later I get to play games like Concord. Where are the games Sony promised us? At least on the Xbox side we get AAAAA games like Starfield to keep us entertained.

Is weekend GAF here already?

Was gonna answer it genuinely, but from the comments here I'm probably out of the loop on OP's sincerity.

My two cents is, being able to play new games, but also being able to pop in some Dead or Alive 3, is the main reason why I prefer Xbox over PS, any day...

No beef with the PlayStation though.

We all have are reasons. I can't get a console that is missing to many beloved IPs that I enjoy. Xbox did get Yakuza and Persona so that was good on them because I thought it was crazy that they didn't have those IPs. They need to head over to NISA and Koei tecmo next and get them onboard missing way to many great IPs over there.

I'm extremely unhappy with mine, but I already bought it so I'm not planning on selling it ever. Replaced my PS4 basically. My honest opinion though is that if I had future vision and knew in advance, I would have been fine entirely skipping PS5 so far, and I absolutely plan on skipping PS6.

But, I've said for a while that I think PS5 will have a strong finish and you may want to play that stuff. My advice is to just map out what you think is coming, because despite Sony's total lack of communication, you can probably predict a lot more of it than you think.

Sucker Punch: Ghost 2. Probably 2026 at the earliest.
Naughty Dog: TLoU3, probably 2027-2028 at the earliest. Maybe a small scale new IP before then.
Santa Monica: Probably a God of War spin-off. Barlog's new IP at some point.
Bluepoint: Support studio now.
Bend: Some kind of open world action game possibly with GAAS elements, Days Gone-ish gameplay.
Media Molecule: Who cares. Who knows.
Bungie: Destiny, Marathon.
Haven: Fairgames.
Guerilla: Horizon 3, probably like 2027 or 2028.
Housemarque: You might see some kind of new IP somewhat soon, 2025 or 2026. Who knows what it is, but they have a good track record.
Asobi: Astro Bot this year so don't expect anything else until 2028 at the soonest.
Insomniac: Wolverine 2026, Spider Man 3, Venom 2025, X-Men for 10 years.
Koji Pro: Death Stranding 2 2025. Physint 2028, 2029?

That's pretty much it. From this list, which is very likely to encompass everything until 2028, I'm very interested in Barlog's game. I'm moderately interested in Ghost 2. I'm just waiting to see on Housemarque, Bend. Naught Dog new IP will get my attention, but I'm not really going to count it until I see it since I don't like a lot of their games. I didn't like Death Stranding so that's a skip for me, but I will definitely have to play Physint. And that's literally it. Just make your own list and compare it to the money you'd get and make the call. Probably the main stuff for me is Barlog and Physint. I could live without the rest, and I haven't even seen either of those games ...

My rroded 360 made me switch to ps3 and knowing the experience won't even come close but that was the reason.

I totally agree!
I really like the backwards compatibility, but at the same time, the new games there are to play are still limited.

I have mine cleaned up, factory reset, and packed up along with a bunch of games. That along with my gen Switch and games. Maybe going to trade in at Gamestop for in-store credit while the value(s) still relatively decent, smh.

Edit: Reason(s) for getting rid of/trading in being that my PS5 basically collects dust. Also, the best games for it are now released on PC

>ps5 keeps getting scalped at launch

>Sony releases no gaems so people would want to sell theirs
>ps5 price drops

I feel ya OP. Im definitely eventually selling mine.

...For a Pro
Yep will admit I'm posting here because I thought it would be a "because GAF told me that the PS5 pro is coming out for realz this year probably maybe" thread

Why do you need reassurances that your purchase was valid? The mistake I see gamers make is that they buy consoles preemptively with the expectation that they'll find content on it that'll appeal to them. What you should do is purchase a console when a game or games are on it that you want to play. I haven't picked up a PS5 for that very reason, although I will get one for the launch of GTA6 or DS2 (whichever arrives first). Support the games not the platforms!!!!

Yes, sell it.

Honestly I dont see how you're wrong. Sony has truly fucking been useless this gen, in the last 2 years especially. Until they show us why to be excited, I blame no one for selling this shit right now.

You should sell it since you obviously do not deserve it.

" I promise to be true to my PS5 in good times and in bad. I will love it and honour it all the days of my life. From this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part."

The vow you took before God and the gamestop clerk when buying it was a binding one.

If games like FF7 Rebirth, Rise of Ronin, Stellar Blade and Astro Bot aren't to your taste then, sure.
Modern consoles (except for the Switch) are only worth it if you'll be using them as your main gaming device to play both exclusives and multiplatform titles.
