Come on buddy. Gaming has never been such a cheap, money-addicted whore as it is now. Might as well grab some dirt-cheap gaming while the industry disappears up its own arseI think it kind of cheapens gaming, lol.

It does impart a disposable quality to it. Yeah, I can see that.
Do you have proof of either of these statements? Microsoft - the one with the warchest according to microsoft 'fans' - could take a hit on handhelds in order to get gamepass in to the hands of more people. You aren't making a super powerful handheld for $299. And you sure aren't going to get people to buy $499 and up hand helds.
You mean like 95 percent of every gaming store already? Go open all the stores and tell me how many of those games you actually want to play.
Tons of them. I have 1700+ games on my steam wishlist in addition to thousands of digital games across various platforms.
So you own 15 percent of the store. So I'll change my number to 85 percent, even though you are already the exception which I think is fair to say.
That's still over 25,000 games on that store you have zero interest in.

I tell you what, fuck it, let us go nuts. VR headset, fully portable, with the ability to stream games via xcloud, from the XSX to anywhere with wifi/5g. BOOM Microsoft back in the game
I don't know what percentage of the store I own, and sure there is tons of garbage out there. I'm not disagreeing with that point. But there's so much great stuff that isn't AAA and/or is virtually unknown out there in my experience anyway. But I do have very broad tastes, in fairness.
My point is that game pass doesn't cheapen gaming in any capacity. If anything it encourages people to broaden out with a curation of games that they might not have been able to discover due to the vastness of these stores.
I don't dislike gamepass, fwiw. It's just not my preferred method of engaging with gaming. I think it *is* an incredible value, for sure. I just like to "own" my games, being free to pick them up whenever I'm in the mood without being beholden to the whims of the store/service owner. I don't like my library to "come and go". That's the only issue I have with this type of service.
The vita had expensive as fuck SD's cards, which killed it out the gate. But that is an immensely powerful handheld. The shield tablet made no sense. The market has changed, as it always does.People didn't but the Vita at $249. People didn't buy the Shield Tablet at $299 and $399. You aren't making a high end probable machine for under $600.
I'm not trying to say your method of purchase is bad but you agreed that it makes games disposable. Which just isn't fair in any capacity.
If GP didn't offer you to purchase games and was the only way to access games we would be having a different dicussion but I honestly so not see any way that GP cheapens or somehow diminishes quality of games in any way.
The difference is that ps5 will have exclusives that don't have to scale with anything. Its weird, we have xbox fanboys trying their best to explain why the stuff that Sony showed could easily been running on ps4. Yet, they expect to be blown away by upscaled Xbox One games next week.Pushing the narrative that Series X is being held back due to xyz can be slapped on the PS5 as well by claiming its a 9.2TF console and how could such a weak console push on next generation. In reality neither statement is true, but one statement is allowed to be repeated while one isn't, and at this point its nothing more that just baiting and bad faith arguments.
The Series X also isn't going to be help back no matter how much you wish for it, because of scalability, which seems to be a foreign concept here that people can't come to terms with when its 100% going to be the reality.
That tweet is unavailable, but we know for a fact that the Gears 5 Series X will have
And possible a 120FPS mode for multiplayer. Those are next generation graphics pushed to the max. I have no idea what your expecting from next generation graphics, if this isn't. Gears 5 is already a phenomenal looking game with these additions it is easily a next generation game.

There isn't a DS, 3DS, 2DS, Gameboy, Vita, PSP etc anymore. There's a switch and that's it.
If Microsoft don't get in on the handheld game, Sony will, if they don't Google will. Nintendo cannot be allowed to have the whole market to themselves. From a business point of view, it's fucking mental

Fair post with a solid argument. My counter-point would be:The switch strategy is built on the success of the IP and history along with price. But also this was after their handheld only divisions saw dramatically lower numbers. The switch is the device to brdige that gap. The market showed they don't want to keep carrying multiple devices around.
Sony tried it, failed. No way they are trying again. Google has no IP worth a damn and they already support mobile with stadia.
Xcloud will be their only play into the mobile market. Anything else is suicide.
One hour a week of a tv program keeps you busy? Lol bullshitDepends on distribution model, but a weekly released series with 12 episodes could keep you for 3 full months (or 4 paid months).
It's partly the reason the Snyder Cut will be released as a series of 6 episodes (3 months renewed subscription).
MS is partially trying to do this by releasing some GaaS games themselves.
It's silent alright... but the reasons you think it's silent and the reasons I think an Xbox is silent are very different! LOL
Game Pass is giving Sony nightmares.
It isn't.... yet.
Right now it's a great way to play a huge selection of older games for a very reasonable price. Sony can quite understandably claim they can match this with PS Plus and Now.
But if Microsoft take on a more Netflix like strategy... by releasing brand new first party games onto GamesPass immediately... that could be a game changer.

Can't tell if this a joke post or not.

Not sure what you're disagreeing on here. One hour a week of a tv program keeps you busy? Lol bullshit
Silent is silent. Why on earth would you have different reasons? The thing is just silent. Fact!
Man I cant believe how shitty this game looks thats on PC and Xbox. If only it wasn't being held back.
*not on XBox
*not on XBox
I'm assuming that the Xone in that joke is used as a doorstop somewhere, no games and all that...
I'm still annoyed it's TBC. It's one of the major XBox releases of the year, and a game I personally was looking forward to, and it's not coming to XBox for who knows how long! Its coming to xbox. Try again.

I'm fine with stuff being on PC, but it sure should be on XBox too.
The difference is one is consumed for one hour per week and the other isnt. Not sure what you're disagreeing on here.
You don't "keep busy", but if something is released over 12 weeks, your audience for that is going to keep subscribed for that long.
Games haven't quite be distributed that way successfully (see Hitman), but online games use the same principle to maintain engagement.
I'm sorry, but your comparison only shows providing gaming content is more costly. The difference is one is consumed for one hour per week and the other isnt.
I doubt MS expects Xcloud to be a major success right away. They're laying the groundwork for a streaming-centric future 5 years from now. However, I think MS are getting ahead of themselves with Xcloud. We're still not quite ready (Maybe in five or so years).
Well, I like Flight Simulator, played it a lot in the early 2000s. Not exactly an intense game to run, even with updated photometry and more realistic physics. It doesn't even have damage models (and neither should it!). Definitely something the X1 can handle.I understand the pain but the argument was in response to someone who said games will simply be uprezzed Xbox One Games. And I would suspect it'll be a launch window game for series X.
Some games maybe but not mostI'm sorry, but your comparison only shows providing gaming content is more costly.
If a show of 12 one hour episodes can be distributed over 12 weeks, a game of similar length might last as little as a few days to some players.

I think the point is more to games that are more computationally intensive, and especially the strain on development teams forced to work across a massive generational chasm.
Yeah, as I said, online games can take on a similar distribution model, but games are stillSome games maybe but not most
Yeah, you cut out the minimum requirement which aren't at all impressive (the CPU is 50 bucks!)...The ideal specs say otherwise.

No one is arguing that more optimization isn't needed but this notion that games will be held back is tired and unfound.
Yeah, as I said, online games can take on a similar distribution model, but games are still
1) More expensive to develop
2) Selling at a higher price
3) Can often last significantly shorter, accounting for lower subscriber retention
From a business standpoint, going for a Netflix model is massively costly and seldom profitable (Netflix is currently 14 billion dollars in debt and they're the clear market leaders). The point is MS may need to increase GP monetization soon.
Yeah, you cut out the minimum requirement which aren't at all impressive (the CPU is 50 bucks!)...
Weird way to make your argument, as obviously ideal specs are for the best experience.
The point is Flight Simulator has never been that intense of an experience, and to paint it as "next-gen" rings fairly sad, and I say this as long-time fan
For Xbox customers... Have you ever tried playing PC games when your hardware just meets the minimum specs?
I have. Rest assured, I never want to experience it ever again. And anyone who claim games are infinitely scalable because PC are lying or never placed PC games.
To be honest, until recently I was indifferent to console wars as I skipped this console gen entirely. But recently Xbox had gone full misinformation in terms of using PC gaming as their way to deceive, knowing full well that their own customers have no idea about computers and would believe anything. As someone who game on PC, I took it as a personal insult. You go and spread your lies all you want, but leave PC gamers out of this. And yet for multiple months now new threads pop up saying "Because PC does this (impossible and non-existent thing), Xbox can do this too!"
Enough already. Cut it out. If you want to lie to yourselves then do it, but leave PC gaming out of your lies.
