Show us your gaming setup: 2011 Edition

I mean no offense by this Melchiah but what do people say/think when they come over? I know I would be kinda creeped out unless I knew you.

It does look very cool though!

Where most of the magic happens!

Added some cheap speakers (for music, youtube and the like), an xbox gamepad and a 2011 calendar, ofcourse! Moved my Turtlebeach X41s behind the monitor.

When I want to relive my childhood... nothing better then a good round on Mario kart 64! Also, my DS collection.

My Wii is currently residing up at my ski condo, I will post a picture of it later probably!

Thanks. And no offense taken.

Nothing really, as my friends aren't that normal either. =) Generally they find the things in my apartment cool or curious. Many seem to like to ride the wheelchair, and inspect the gynecologist's instruments. Some of them have been a bit spooked by the mannequin at first (as was I for the first couple of weeks, until I got used to her). One for example couldn't sleep on the hospital bed, until the mannequin was moved to a place where he couldn't see it. :D

Oh, I also got a human skull couple of months ago from a Facebook friend. =)

It's no coincidence, that the first three Silent Hills are my favorite games. =)

Just added B&W CM9 / CMC2 combo to my setup. I've been spending the long weekend breaking these beauties in. I'm definitely impressed so far. Much more clarity in the midrange and a much improved low end over my old B&W 602 S3 setup.

Man, some of you guys have great set ups. When I eventually buy a house, I'm going to make my dream gaming room. I've been saving up posters and whatnot for years. I can't wait. It's still ears away though but it'll be worth it.

Here's what I currently have,

Starting last March I started to move the majority of the stuff from my old home office into my new one. Here's what the old office looked like:

Yeah I know, it's a bit of a mess/dump, but I knew where everything was (I think)

So here's the new setup.

Very nice setup! Call me clueless but what do those pads in the back do? Do they absorb or deflect the sound?

Here's my little setup.

PS3 60 Gig
X360 20 Gig
Wii
Harmon Kardon AVR310 (Yeah, she's very old but still kicking strong)
Polk R40's

The office/gaming haven for the wife and I. While I'm on tf2 or some other steam related gem she is typically on the laptop keyed in on either bejeweled or plants vs zombies.

This picture is so funny to me. It looks like your wife sits at the children's table. She should at least have a comfier chair, even if she doesn't live as much in front of a monitor as you seem to.

Pretty plain but this is where I spend most of my time. That's a Dell monitor to the right I just got a few months ago. Those speakers came with my computer about 5 years ago and sound great. Came with a small sub-woofer.

Games and movies are at the bottom but it's kinda junky. Didn't want to show.

I finally finished upgrading/installing my setup for my new place (new as in 2 years since I moved in, but whatever). I still have some cable management to do (something of a nightmare considering I still have to use component+optical for my consoles so I can do some capture, plus the cables going to the capture pc and the network cables...), but otherwise I'm pretty much done.
My setup is basically a tv hanging off a white wall, and receiver/consoles/blu-ray and other stuff on a black metal shelf on the floor. I have a lot of white wall space on the left and right of the TV, and I was thinking about how I should decorate there. Since this is not a game room, but the main room of my place, I don't want it to be any nerdier than it is already, so gaming stuff is a big no no. I was thinking about movie posters like http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/81/ShawshankRedemptionMoviePoster.jpg or http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f8/Empire_Of_The_Sun.jpg, but I'm open to go ideas since decorating isn't my thing at all.
Looks like this (crappy pic, just to show the place)
whitewall.jpg

Get a large fake plant like a bamboo tree and have it on the left side. On the right, have a wide floor lamp. Something like:

orgel-vreten-floor-lamp-beige-steel__19859_PE105162_S4.jpg

Otherwise to give you better advice I would need a wider shot to take in where the walls area.

You're right on the money. They are meant to cut down on the first reflection point behind the speaker. Ideally I'd have a panel at every first reflection point, but I try to keep the look of the room in mind.

I actually built those panels myself, but I'll soon be buying some professionally made models and hanging them on the wall behind the main channels.

I've offered to upgrade her desk and chair plenty of times but she says it's a waste of money. I didn't take a pic of it (though a small piece shows up in bottom left of the pic) but I should have said there is a red chase in the room where she is usually curled up with the laptop or a good book in hand more than she is at the desk.

Sweet B&W stuff, nice!

Updated a few things since last year...

Last year:

http://i35.tinypic.com/6o1xk7.jpg
http://i36.tinypic.com/2cifyvq.jpg

Replaced my dinosaur laptop with a 16" Asus that can finally play some games. Yay!

9lbddl.jpg

Added a Kinect and the OnLive microconsole to the entertainment center (the OnLive console is the TINY box to the left of the 360)

oig0fs.jpg

Then we also finished the kitchen side of the basement and added some shutters that effectively block out the light, since the basement gets pretty bright. Not exactly gaming-related, other than the Heavy Rain framed print I put there as an accent.

Not much has changed since last year, except that my gaming PC (desktop on screen) just got upgraded to the new Core i7 2600k processor and dual-boot Windows 7/XP for gaming purposes.

Pictures are links to bigger pix.

Looks like my old set up. And still how it would probably look if my wife let me. :P Must be nice having every game on pretty much any system right at your fingertips. If you did some wire management you could make that still look nice.

I spent 8 hours doing wire management. Every single wire there is tied to the frame in multiple places. There are just so many of them! The only way to tie them tighter would be to have access from the back; otherwise I need some slack to be able to plug and unplug them.

Is that a Goldstar 3DO hiding in there?! Awesome, reminds me of being 15 again!

I haven't really been a console gamer for almost 10 years now, so my living room setup is woefully outdated. I do most of my gaming on my office PC, and because of Steam I have no pretty boxes to show off.

This rig makes it really hard to get any work done...

^^^^^
Fuck that's an awesome set-up !
--------

My set-up as of now. PS3 is hooked up to the monitor. GAF on the laptop on the right and a
digital strategy guide (if applicable, or a TV show or something while grinding some games)
on the monitor on the left. TV is used mostly for Wii/Cube/PS2 stuff. Still need to get rid of
all the damn wires haha. Also Ikea Detolf with some random shit in it.

I've been reworking my game room a bit, so I'll make some new pics soon(ish). I've still got 2 small areas that I just don't know what to do with, so I wanna figure that out first before I post new pics. The main difference is a lot of added Mario figures.

Wii, PS3, 360, 37" Dynex LCD. It's actually not that bad. The TV is actually level IRL, the picture just made it look like it was slanted.

DSi and Minecraft box, I mean laptop

I had to pack away my SNES :( as well as my GC and Dreamcast. Other stuff was already packed away. Also put all of my non-DS handheld stuff away, except for a GBASP+ along with the 3 GB/GBC Zelda games.

The reason I had to pack all that away:
zN84D.jpg

He was obsessed with my SNES and games, constantly pulling both of them off of shelves and playing with the SNES carts. I was so proud :sniff:
