Still need to get a new chair, but I'll probably be moving out in the next year.
I have this same DVD shelf, but I've been thinking about trying to find a taller one since I have already had to push everything from the Playstation generation out and most of my PSP games.

Well, my basement theater remains the same as last year, but my retro setup has expanded quite a bit. This is what it looks like now.

Still waiting for a couple more SCART cables to complete the RGB setup. SNES and Genesis look fantastic on that Sony, though. Very much like an arcade monitor at this point.

wow.. i wish i knew what some of your jobs were. I'm 22 and still living with my parents. I start college soon so I won't have a sweet setup like these for a while..assuming my career in geology will still be possible in a few years when I graduate -_-

Dark10x - How do you set that retro lot up? Do you just switch cable when you want to play a new system?
I have multiple switch boxes in place. It's kind of a hassle, but it works.

I have a SCART switcher there currently connecting the bottom Genesis and SNES. I actually just unplug the cable from the SNES and move it to the Super Famicom when I want to use that as it's extremely simple.

I then have the SCART switch connected to a SCART to component transcoder which runs to the component switch beneath the SCART switch. That accepts 4 component inputs so I have the SCART switch, the Gamecube, XBOX, and PS2 all on that switch. I also switch the video cable between the JP and US PS2 systems.

The rest of the systems are connected to an s-video/composite switch (hidden in this photo). I have a Saturn and Dreamcast SCART cable on the way so I'll leave my US Saturn on s-video and the JP Saturn on SCART (as there are more games to play on it). The Genny with the 32x connected is just running composite and I rarely use it, but it is connected. More than anything I use it as a demonstration of SCART vs composite since I have two copies of Sonic 2. :P The Genny has a particularly lousy composite output so the difference is really night and day.

It's definitely quite a mess to hook everything up. I would like to have a receiver (without video processing) to run everything through but I don't have the room up there. At the moment I use TV speakers with an old sub woofer connected. The TV actually sounds very decent when the low end is filled in by the sub, though I'd like to add speakers to it eventually (maybe mount then on the wall?). It's far from complete at this stage, but I'm really enjoying it thus far.

Nice retro setup, Dark.

I would love to get into retro gaming, but I don't have the space. I'd need a separate set up, but I don't have the room for it.

Super Metroid + a quality CRT = as good as it gets.

WIP Vewlix clone. Using HORI T5's as a base (Fully modded with Sanwa Stick and Seimitsu Buttons. I'm re-working the CP so it looks better and i'm going to have the gap in the middle filled with a Hub (For hooking up your own stick if you choose) and volume controls.

Got some AE art printed up for it yesterday.

The date stamp on the pics is off, the photos were taken a few months ago. I did get a new headset though, I picked up one of the Logitech G930's, so i can sound like Satan with the voice mods during raids when people start getting pissed at wipes.

We are re-modeling my man cave since my wife wants to put an 80 gallon fish tank in there, so it may be a few before I put those picks up.

Fucking love the OP's setup. So minimalist and classy. You can tell he put a lot of time/care into organizing it and that's because it's so important to him. Or maybe that's just how he is with things.

I'm too embarrassed with my nasty-ass setup to post anything in here.

Here goes, man I'm inspired by some of you guys amazing setups. Mine is far more humble.

You should really consider coasters.

I would, but I have a 5, 3 and 1 year old, coasters may save a ring or two, but God himself couldn't stop the three Amigos from going to town on my desk like the invisible swordsman.

Here's a thought regarding LCD/LED and banding, clouding. Is it possible that having the TV mounted on the wall produces more issues? I mean since it's hanging i imagine the back and front faces could get separated as the weight shifts towards the front and only the back face is secured. I guess i should just try it out but sounds logical to me, what do you think?

Sorry for the OT.

Apologies for the shocking picture quality but I love reading this thread and thought it was time to contribute. The vast majority of my gaming is on PC, and i play it the old fashioned way. bolt upright at a desk, playing on a monitor. So here is my gaming setup in my very wooden student hovel.

I've always been afraid to this with my systems (from my current systems and going as far back as my NES). That amount of wires and plugs just seems dangerous and a big power drain. Could be wrong of course but better safe then sorry.

Though I am thinking of just having a stand like that and maybe just having them all up but not connected at all. Just on display with the wires maybe in a box.

I want to post my setup but honestly I am quite ashamed by it after looking the setup you guys had.

Only a basic 24 inch LCD TV with PS3 and Xbox connected in front of my bed inside my room, hahaha.

Ah hell I'll probably take pictures after I go home and post them tomorrow. Just one request though: don't laugh!

Or you could, you know, have em hooked up so you could play them? They aren't museum pieces, they are GAMING systems!

(My favorite setup and a huge inspiration)[/QUOTE]

You're not making me feel any better, you know. I'll probably just not post my setup now lest you guys are making fun of me later, hahaha.

Gaming is a very expensive hobby where I live, so my setup is, frankly speaking, very pathetic compared to all of you. It's like ants staring at the heights of giants!

That setup needs to make an appearance in every setup thread. I'm glad it's finally made the rounds here now.

I do have a sort of fondness for that sort of ultra-ghetto setup, though. There's something so nostalgic about playing games on shitty setup, in a ghetto-ass basement.

I'm always so jealous looking at these setups. I wish I could afford more than a 500 square foot apartment. I'd like to have room for a retro setup like dark10x, but alas that isn't happening. I'll have pics of my setup as soon as I get everything put together. I'm basically just looking for a good DVD Cabinet and some artwork to put up.

What, no wheel and no PS3?

Don't tell me you dominate races with a keyboard... :/

No no, there's a wheel just out of shot(you can just see the pedals next to my sub), and you can see my PS3 in the left of my first picture :)
