Silent Hill f has reached 21,646 concurrent players on Steam

Half of the otakus in the target demographic have already finished it due to early access and moved on.
Yeah, from that I gathered a ton of people had the deluxe version with the early access and burned through it. It's also been pretty divisive from what I could tell. Folks not enjoying that it's such drastic difference from the other iterations. From what I can tell, it's still successful, and that's the best thing about it.

We're playing Megabonk instead
Megabonk is SO good. It's cheap, it's fun, and it has a lot of replayability. I keep going back to it, lol.

its survival horror which has already limited appeal, its like with cronos.. mothersuckers on the other forum were dropping out like flies in the Steelworks area. "ohh its too hard im out" and there are many of them!

then its also a soulslike and i know many many were out the moment they heard this. plus this also has pretty clunky combat from many many opinions i read.

the price, dunno about pc but this shit is 80€ fucking euros for me on ps5. thats where i was out when i heard it has meh combat especially.

i will get it down the line on a 50% sale or so. Also its too close to Ghost of Yotei for me ,,which is another 80€ game...

btw i beat Cronos twice now and holy shit is it much easier on ng+
It isn't a Soulslike at all.

The game uses your system settings. If you have set your system settingsto to 1440p 144 Hz, for example, the game will use those settings.
At least that's what I read and can confirm. The game shows 2560x1440p 48 Hz for me, but I'm definitely not playing at 48 Hz.

But AW2 is a good game as well.
Not only this is dumb, but also it's not true 100%, this can be considered a bug because for me and some other people it was setting 4K at arbitrary refresh rates like 24 Hz for me and 50 for other people

Bought it and instantly refunded it because I couldn't change the resolution lol, I'll get it later once a patch is released. I'll be playing A W2 instead.
This brings me to what I was gonna say, which is that I think those are great numbers considering the PC port is subpar. If it launched with a great PC version, then I guarantee it would have pulled down better numbers.

At some point, it falls to publishers to start taking the PC port seriously, what with Steam being the largest platform demographic that a publisher can target right now. If we want this to change, then undercooked PC ports need to underperform, it's the only way to get it through to them.

Of course, I wouldn't put it past publishers to take the complete wrong message from under performing ports on PC, and just assume that PC players aren't interested in their games rather than acknowledge that their porting procedures should be improved.....but surely that wouldn't be the case right? I mean, no publisher could be that dumb, I mean you'd have to be a royal.....fuckin.....idiot..............

Sometimes it looks like it's not the wrong message what they get but they just think "they won't eat anything thrown at them, so it's not worth it" lol

Unless you're Resident Evil, survival horror is a relatively niche genre that doesn't sell lots.

Just look at games like Alan Wake 2, Dead Space Remake, Cronos recently. These games typically do between 1-3m sales in their first few years.

The entire SH franchise over 30 years has just done 10m sales in total. Even the 2m+ that SH2R has done should be celebrated because it hugely over-performed.

Given SH2's soft numbers
Compared to what though? SH was never RE level million selling IP, classic era sales were consistently soft (including OG SH2).
I never followed what happened after it left Japan - but I imagine it wasn't amazing numbers either given critical reception of those.
3M is actually pretty high by standards of at least first 4 SHs.

If I was expecting 5–7M for SH2 (and it only did 3M)
And that's under a year on the market. RE7 was under 4M in similar time-frame, 'under' performing relative to every other RE - yet it since went on to become the best selling entry of the IP overall (over 15M)
Not saying this will happen here - but digital has redefined the 'legs' for a lot of these IPs.
