I thought the protagonist's face in Silent Hill F looked a little off, but I assumed it was just a limitation of the engine. The modded one does look a bit more natural and realistic.

I mean parents IE choose their kids' clothes, haircuts, commend and punish certain behavior, in order to make a child seem more acceptable to them. We all know that song, and we may argue whether or not it's violence or whatever. But to change how the game character looks, even though she's "underage" according to story, harms absolutely nobody, objectively so, however much "implicit" it may seem. Even then I find it a bit unfortunate people can't enjoy the original way, but hey it's TODAY after all.

Honestly, Silent Hill f humiliates Fatal Frame. That was specifically something I was thinking about within the 1st hour of playing it.

Yes, the mods look like Fatal Frame. The takeaway though is that Fatal Frame is a bit of a joke most of the time, no one considers it scary, and it's just been totally lapped by an unknown developer on their 1st try.

Almost every well known game has some sort of mods to make the character "prettier" (though they usually look bad, IMO).
Besides, a quick google search says the actress that provides the looks and voice for the character is 26.

That's some bullshit mate. Fatal Frame 1&2 are fucking great games, and regarded as by fans of the genre. Atmosphere, sound, written lore, creepy ghosts, simple yet clever mechanics of dealing with Ghosts.

Are the later entries a bit shit ? Yes, but you can say the same about Silent Hill which only had two good games before F.
The worst of Fatal Frame is still better than SH4, HC, and Downpour combined.

Silent Hill 2 is literally a thriller in a horror mask. It's good, but it's no horror.
The first Silent Hill absolutely is a horror game. Also, in my opinion, vastly superior to its sequels.

Have you actually played the first three FF games ?

You don't have to be "scared" (I'm not), but they're far creepier than Silent Hill. Especially if you're susceptible to jump scares.

Not all 3, no. I might give that 2 remake a try. I think I just played the first one and the Wii U one.

The first game is my favourite. The haunted house atmosphere is awesome.

Certainly not a joke series man.

Plenty of popular but dog shit indie horror games on Steam can take that label. Not FF.

Silent Hill f's only concrete similarity with Fatal Frame is its setting and the presence of puzzle solving. Fatal Frame is old-school survivor horror/adventure inspired by the DNA and subtlety of J-horror cinema from the 90s-00s combined with ghost photography work. "Silent Hill" f is an action-oriented survivor horror foray with a pro-feminist, anti-patriarchy and anti-marriage undertone ridden plot written by a popular visual novel otaku writer.

No horror games are really "scary" to me, but that goes for films too. They're just fictional stories that are dark, grim and twisted in nature, that's just how I personally view them.





^It would seem there are people who do find Fatal Frame to be scary. Although, Fatal Frame 5 was definitely a misstep and the weakest entry, no doubt.
 
This wasn't nearly as bad as I expected and I don't think it looks terrible however...

Don't get me wrong I love attractive women in games (I essentially bought Stellar Blade day 1 because of Eve for example) but not every fucking game needs to have some fucking doll as the main character. Hinako is cute, and her actress is beautiful. Also, it's a fucking Silent Hill game...

Better? The first one is especially terrible and makes Hinako look like she came out of a cheap indie horror game. It doesn't fit the art style or atmosphere of the game at all. It looks terrible.
