I'm in the mood for some SimCity. I have only ever played 2k. Is this junk working yet? Is the actual game any good?
I feel like I'm better off just buyin 4 off of Steam.
I've got 4 clinics, fully upgraded, and one hospital in my city. I've got no air pollution over residential zones and have no problem with garbage retrieval or dirty water, yet still it's germs all day, all night. I've got 23 people per day who are dying to it :x.
Hold off unless you want to pay $60 for a beta. Tons of features just don't work right now and you run the risk of wasting tons of time on cities that will revert, break, or are useless to your region.
If you're really anxious though, grab SimCity 4 on amazon. It's at 13 on mazon's best-selling list since SimCity's release and subsequent disaster. By most accounts, SimCity 4 is the pinnacle of Classic Sim City.
You need education as well I think.
Everything works fine for me. What features are you talking about?

Hey, take it easy on the guy, bro.
Leader boards, fast forward, traffic, path finding in general, recycling bug and online reginal communications.
The traffic is back. It looks like they temporarily turned off tourists?
Leaderboards, Global Market based pricing, sharing City Hall resources with the region, and Cheetah speed, to name a few.Everything works fine for me. What features are you talking about?
Wait, those don't work? My god, I must be playing a SimCity copy made from magic.
My Empire State Building is generating 20k profit.

My friend is has the dude with the gun avatar. That is all municipal buses. I'm not sure what they bring to the table.

It seems I just lost my 200k+ pop city to "the cloud." First attempt to open/join, I see the city area and name. Second attempt is a blank loadscreen that loads perpetually until I'm forced to alt+f4 to close. I'm sure this will be the first of potentially several occurrences, but that's at least 8hr+ gone.
I was planning on using it as my ore/industrial city, but regional play is so utterly gimped/broken it probably wouldn't have turned out as planned. I guess it's not a total loss?
I think I'm just about done now as there's no more room to expand and it's just about accumulating density and cash at this point. Gonna move on to others in the region.
It's easy to miss these features early to mid game. You don't necessarily need any of them if you run your cities like they're isolated silos. Regional play, however, is basically broken, both online and off.
Ummm my city is 180k pop, I've built 10 cities from the beginning, and my region with my friends is 2 million pop. We chat in game, trade, share resources, built 2 great works.
I don't think I'm missing anything.
Guys :/ I am in NA East 1 on GAFTopia Viridian Woods 1. I haven't been able to play for four days. Today I FINALLY got on. So I start building in Taviana and things are going good. In the top left it now says, "Sim City servers are down". I'm assuming none of my stuff has been synced.
This sucks.
The building it belonged to is gone, but it's still attached to the road. To delete it, you have to bulldoze the section of road it's on. I ran into this earlier tonight when I rezoned a bunch of industry.See that bin? yeah, it's not going anywhere. It came from a zoned IND building. I dezoned and deleted it and its still there. Reloaded the game, still there, cant place a building on it. When I take a building the game will say i can place it but when I try and plop it the ghost building disappears and its still there.

You only have to bulldoze one section, though. Just keep clicking on the road (and hit Esc if it doesn't work) with the bulldoze tool until you see that bin highlight yellow. Once it's gone, just rebuild that ten feet of road and rezone.
Anyone having trouble with the water table?
I run out of water constantly. Never seen it rain once in my game.
I'm very frustrated. I have painstakingly made enough space to plop an airport. When I go to plop it down, it just doesn't. It clears out the area I plop it in, but it won't build it. Just for grins I cleared out another area. Same thing. I restarted the game. Same thing. I really need an airport to ship out all this stuff I'm collecting, but the game simply will not plop the damned thing down.
What am I doing wrong?
*edit* Oh, it's the same problem georgc is having! How the hell do I get rid of the fence from the old building?
Region sharing is still fucked up. I build a new city, right next to my first one. My old city has some of those newfangled vertical wind turbines researched at the university, so it's generating electricity out the wazoo. Can I buy that power? Nope.
So I lay down a wind turbine. Can't upgrade to the vertical turbines because it requires a university in the region, engineering research, all that jazz. Meanwhile, I can fucking see the vertical turbines about three hundred yards away in my first city, but it says I don't have any of the necessary regional requisites to build them.
At this point, even though I can sign in and play without any issues, I can't really play.. all of my cities have hit a brick wall of needing to use the cities around them that the game won't let me fucking use.
I'm guessing not everyone is having this problem, else everyone would be complaining more about it.
I don't think this approach is good for a number of reasons. They're too expensive early on, they don't do anything better than high density streets, they take up WAY more total space once you have them all gridded out
well guess his happens quite often. Well you don't have to help me anymore caused i fixed it. (EA deleted my city just now) but any word on how to fix this for notsol?
Oh, so it's just happening on the only server I'm using. That's just fucking great.Im having the same problems with region sharing on all my games in NA East 2.

Yeah, that's what happens when I try to share power. It says it's sending it, but the number stays at zero, and it never arrives. Then the residents get pissed waiting for so long.I also tried sending money to some friends and the message pops up telling me the gifts were sent, but they never received them
Are recycling centres a good way to get materials for the processing plant? I think I tired it once, but maybe because I was testing with an early city that wasn't smart enough to recycle.
Any chance of VW3 getting moved off of North America East 1? I can literally join every single server except North America East 1.
