SimCity |OT| It's not the simulation or city that matter, it's <parameter: string>

I have Desirability 1, same as you :lol. If anything, either Stasis or Fear should go for it then. I think both Oil (Stasis) and Casino (Fear) could go well with Tourism? And they've both expressed interest in Tourism, so they can both do like a 1.5 specialization? :D Then you can do Mining instead of Fear, both works, since both of you have a 2 and a 3 in the 2 big mining resources. I can do High-Tech (and Water) and Trade with all the connections. I can also do Tourism if that's what we end up deciding on, I'm not entirely sure WHAT Desirability is for.. whether it's tourists or residents/commercial/industry or just generally attractiveness.

I'm happy with this setup. To be honest, I don't have much interest in mining, it's more of I would be willing to do it for others because I have the resources but I would rather focus on other stuff like Gambling and Tourism.

You can have up to 10 cities I think, at least that's how it was in the Beta.
I can see that being a beta restriction, but I plan on trying out lots of different things across this game, and I'd hate to start deleting old cities. You think the full game would let you build as many as you want.

Yeah, that was my thinking. I could potentially do some ore mining to trade back to Sawyer's Crossing since they're relatively low on that and Huckleberry has a 3 in that. What about you?

We should get metalmurphy to switch your region to mine :p

Haven't posted yet but I am here!

Going to get an industrial revolution up in Sawyers Crossing, all trains'n'sheet.

Serious though, I'm up for cooperation, plan of action, etc.

I missed out on the beta chances, so I'm sort of going in blind - can a city only send power to adjacent cities or to any of them?

I found this tweet. It's a tiny bit old though so it's possible things have changed.

@oceanquigley Hi Ocean, How many regions can you have tied to one origin account?

@weebl_101 You can have up to 10 regions (in total, regardless of whether they're private or shared with other players)
https://twitter.com/oceanquigley/status/294649873834311680

I have heard before that each server is separate so if you want more you could switch servers to another region. It's also important to know there's a difference between regions and cities. You could make a 16 city private region just for yourself and you would have 16 cities on a single save slot.

Cool cool! Let's see then:

Stasis: Oil/Tourism: Hospital, Police, High-Population, Money, Shopping (secondary Water?)
Smiley: High-Tech/Trading: Recycling, Education, Water
Georgc: Mining: Fire, Garbage, Sewage, Main Power
FearMyWrench: Casino, Tourism: Hospital, Police, High-Population, Money, Shopping (secondary mining?)

Input? Hard to assign all the utilities properly, just gave Stasis/Fear about the same, since with Tourism Hospital/Police are gonna be important anyway, and those are needed highly throughout the area anyway, so if just one person does it that'd get quite expensive.

Sweet!
I'm down to do some awesome cooperation. I'm glad to hear you are too.

I missed out on the beta chances too (I was rebuilding my PC when the one a few weeks ago was running) so I'm going in blind as well. I haven't found too many great resources just yet so we'll be learning it together I guess :p

From what I'm hearing you can only really do resources to the cities in your proximity "group of 4" to start with, and then as things advance you can do longer-distance wheeling'n'dealing. I could be wrong though.

just watched the idle thumbs stream, and now I'm ready for sim city.
if I want to play the beta how do I get in this late? preorder?

There's no more beta, the game releases on Tuesday ;) Nobody (maybe apart from Devs) is playing atm.

Also, so tempted to turn that little island in the middle of my map purely into a park & Mayor's mansion area. It'd be an epic troll by me, screwing over everyone in the city by taking the best spot and a ton of land just for myself.

My guess:

- Somebody starts up a invite-only region.
- They send out invites to those people they want to participate in the region.
- People invited select available cities to work on.

kind of hard some some of the people in my region didn't sign up on the excel sheet or OP hasn't updated in awhile.

Right so presuming that is how it works how do we determine who starts the region? This SimCity lark is pretty serious :p

16. Kazoo Basin - Desirability: 2 // Buildable: 90% // Railroad, no Sea // Coal: 1, Ore: 0, Oil: 2, Water: 3, Wind: 2
This site features a large reservoir of crude oil as well as a small amount of coal, perhaps enough for a Coal Power Plant. Views of a private inlet provide an ideal location for discerning home owners.

I guess with this location I should focus on Oil, water, high population and commercial?

Well, if there's someone with an Origin pre-order in the region, I assume that person does it, since they're the first ones to get access :p

Sounds good. That's a lot of shit going on at once for someone who hasn't played the game yet, but I'm for it. It'll either be pretty awesome or a spectacular failure, lol.

Most important I guess is communication, letting others know when something isn't going to according to plan so there can be compensation. Are these stats openly available to all 4 of us in the grouping?

I'll be adding myself to the spreadsheet soon, I just haven't yet because I have like 5 Origin accounts and I'm trying to get EA to merge them. If they don't do it in time I'll just pick one :p

That's more of a general plan, it'll take a while before we'll even have enough money for specialiations :p Don't worry, it's more as like a general guideline, in the beginning everyone's mostly for themselves anyway. And yes, in region view you can select to buy from people, and it also gives you ingame-notifications if other regions help you with police/ambulances etc

Chose four cities so hopefully I get one this time. If I do I'm going to be asking for some advice, don't want to screw things up for other people. :D

Maybe we can have one person nominate themselves from each region to start and invite people (obviously they would have to be there as soon as its released)? Otherwise I feel this could all go a bit pear shaped.

Ok cool. And I'm an Origin pre-order, but I probably won't be able to start until later on the 5th, or the 6th. Wasn't supposed to really be able to play until the 8th but I moved some stuff around so I'd have more free time earlier on.

This method would be best. Assuming you can assure the person nominated will be on at launch to invite.

I would nominate myself, but next week is going to be a hectic week for me and I don't know when I will be able to be on. I should be on at launch, but not sure if the laptop will play it since I won't be at home.

That makes a lot more sense, ten regions per account. Ten cities just seemed way too low. Thanks. :)

For those in my cluster (turbo,sl4yor, & paulenta), if you want to strategize at all by talking about specialities, send me a PM and we can discuss how we want to specialize. I haven't played a SimCity game since the SNES with SimCity 2000, but I love simulation games and I am pretty excited about this one.

I want to put out a similar request to pepboy and 19 & 21.

All this planning and strategy for a game that hasn't come out has me amazingly hyped. After a lot of skepticism its interesting to see how my own and what appears to be all of our opinions have changed towards the positive.

Origin and always-online? Yuck.

I'd be interested in this otherwise. I might play it if some enterprising individual can hack that rubbish out of it.

Hey Metal.

I just applied 3 more times to plots I'm interested in playing.

I did specify one with the username "FINALBOSS - my first choice <3" hopefully that didn't screw things up for you.

Really pumped for this.

Thanks!

I really want to buy the game, but am going to work overseas for awhile next week and may not have internet access for awhile at home. Always online sucks :(
