SimCity |OT| It's not the simulation or city that matter, it's <parameter: string>

No they don't :p But they last quite a while, you'll eventually have to re-place everything though :p or someone else in the region needs to start tapping into their water reserves!
Water gets replenished by rain, but you will use it all up if you consume water faster than it rains.
Is it possible to have a city provide industrial for another city in a region? I see how it will let you do it for resources, but it looks like no matter what I'm stuck with having a ton of pollution spewing factories and stuff?

Yes, it works like SimCity 4 in that regard. However, unlike SC4, pollution from one city can blow into another. Be mindful of the wind direction.

Stupid question: I'm home for break and my brother and I want to start our own region making seperate cities. Would we be able to play on the same PC managing our own cities at separate times? Or would one of the cities constantly be neglected while one of us is on?

should never have watched the GB quick look. hype killer. hope this isn't a regret with me going back to SC 4! .____.

Eh, it did not really bug me that much as I saw lots of things in the video I would have been improving on with the cities he had built.

Using the same account, right? Yeah that's possible.

It works the same way that multi city play worked in SC4. When you exit a city. that city's status is "frozen" in time, and it'll continue functioning and providing services or whatever to everyone else, the same as it was at that moment.

But.. eventually everyone will run out of water...

So that's it for that region?

that can't be right? ....right? If every city always runs out of water, the region will only last so long... it has to replenish with rainfall or something... or have your sims take buckets to the river..

For those that want to play and didn't get into the Neogaf regions, I have a 16 player region going with only 4 cities in it.

Add me on Steam: Origin

Do we have anyone creating Discovery Delta 3? Let me know.

I was going to, but I'm going to be going to bed soon, so I wouldn't be able to invite anyone until tomorrow. I'm guessing there will be someone playing right at midnight that would be a better candidate.

Can't start til Thursday due to lame Australian release date and physical copy of the game, my jealously is immense for everyone already/soon to be playing.

Is someone in charge of Discovery Delta #2 as well?

The water table does replenish via rainfall.

You can also reclaim water from sewage via the waste treatment plant, so theoretically if one city processes the shit from its 3 neighbors, it might be able to use that shit water for its own use.

Is there some trick to getting my Sims from one city to go work industrial in another? Do they have to be adjacent cities?

The just have to be connected somehow. The most obvious is by highway, but there are other connections like railroad, and water (ferry).

They don't have to be adjacent.

Hmm, for some reason even though I'm connected by highway, all my Sims in my new region were bitching about needing industrial, yet my other city had a lot of extra industrial.

Nobody has volunteered to set it up yet. Might as well be whoever can get it loaded first since I think we have a few who will be around tonight. (I may have to wait til midnight :/)

I'll try but it all depends on how fast I can DL it. Hopefully my Key releases at midnight (on Origin) so I can start Dling and hopefully at my max connection of 5-6mb/s

Is the highway entrance/exit in one of the cities under heavy traffic?

I had RCI demand sharing lag in the beta, it could possibly still be present.

Altermnatively, perhaps your sims are having a hard time commuting? Or the freight from the other city has a hard time being delivered to your commercial zones?

How does this work on Origin exactly? Will the game in my library suddenly no longer say "THIS GAME IS UNRELEASED" and give me an option to install it?

Putting a water pumping station by a water source like the ocean/river will never run out of water according to a dev during the be a mayor stream today.

So while we're waiting, whats everyone's plan? I'm going to TRY to build some sort of Casino city with some high wealth housing. Again, thats what I want to do, no idea if it will actually work out that way.

how long is the download once you get the client going? Same as beta maybe?

I think its around 10gb. Someone said you download a little from Origin then the rest from Maxis but I'm not sure how reliable that is.

Does anyone know how the 20 off a purchase of 30 or more works? And can it work towards another copy of SC?

I believe it doesn't work on BRAND NEW games but it did work on Dead Space 3 for me. I ended up getting DS3 for 22 bux, not bad considering I wanted it.

Planning on draining every last drop of oil from the Earth.

Expires on March 18th and applies only to a select list of titles (none of which are SC, not counting SC4 and SCS)

OK added everyone from VW3. I didn't add gaming truth because there is confusion about his OriginID.

Sorry, was confused about Origin (and how you have to install it and all) until just now. I think the confusion stems from my Origin account existing only for Mass Effect 2/360 and never having logged into it via the client.

I'll find my way to you guys soon. =)
