"The Nintendo fan, I think, is very similar to the Sega fan of old. And I think Sega and Nintendo have similar software philosophies," said Jeffrey, "A product like Sonic is very family-oriented. It's all about entertainment rather than trying to be controversial or anything like that. It's pure, good old-fashioned entertainment."

"I think we're really looking at which of our classic IPs are appropriate for different platforms," said Jeffrey, "We're very interested in Revolution at the moment. We obviously haven't made any announcements, but we, like other people, are talking with Nintendo about what Revolution will be, about potential opportunities on Revolution."

As far as downloading old Sega games on the Nintendo Revolution, Jeffrey would only admit that it's an interesting prospect, but nothing that's actually in the works. Check out the latest issue of Nintendo Power for the whole interview.

NP: This is kind of a wild idea, but it could be very cool. At E3, Nintendo announced that the Revolution would have the capability to download NES, SNES and N64 games. Would it be at all feasible, do you think, to partner with Nintendo and perhaps add the Sega Genesis to that list?

Only reason I posted this was to get an answer for that obsure question of legacy Sega games. You would think Nintendo Power would know that Sega was once a competitor in the hardware sector. Unless, NP were hinting at having SMS, Genny, 3sx games on REV.

With regard to GameCube itself . . . it’s interesting how something like Panzer Dragoon Orta would have done on GameCube if it had come out on that versus Xbox. That’s an interesting scenario. I’m not sure what would have happened there.

If that's the case I can't see Sega licensing to, or lets Nintendo distribute them. It would be sweet though if Nintendo managed to work out some deal with Sega.

It would have sold a lot better on the GC than the Xbox, especially considering the GC was doing much better in the year PDO came out. Sega screwed up on a lot of releases on the Xbox, and they realize that.

Didn't Panzer bomb on the Xbox? I wonder if it would have done much worse on GC?

I don't see how it could've done worse. And seeing as how SoA Legends came out at the same time with a fraction of the development budget/advertising PDO had and still outsold it, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet.

As has been implied by 2 posters above me, this quote is more likely lamenting the release of Panzer on Xbox (it kinda bombed). So if anything, he's saying it's possible. Again, if anything.

Oh, but the Microsoft fanbase was? I wouldn't mind the Revolution becoming a home for some old-school type games, shooters would be great.

I think that Panzer Dragoon would fit right in with the Nintendo crowd. Same with Jet Grind Radio.

I do not think it would have been technically possible on GCN. You can not compare xbox sales to a slightly worse looking GCN version.

Resident Evil's Gamecube remake of a 6 years old game sold at reasonable levels that compared well with sales of the fully real time CV (at the time) on it's prior console releases. Don't forget the Gamecube has a userbase a 4th/5th the size of the PS2 userbase. Capcom had realistic expectations of what could be done.

RE0 is one of the few third party GC games over a million worldwide too IIRC.
Viewtiful Joe met expectations too as I recall.

If you're looking at the PS2 releases of some of these games and drawing your conclusions from that, maybe it's because Sony's shipped 100 million of them and it's the most popular console ever?

Nintendo and Capcom have been great for one another... it's just that if Capcom wants to do the best possible business, it has to work with Sony too.

And as for credibility assessment, I'd prefer it was performed by someone that could actually analyse "RE couldnt do well enough on the GC" and get back to me on why its been ported to the PS2.

Actually, if RE4 could be ported to the PS2, does make me slightly curious what an Orta port to PS2 would have ended up looking like. Hopefully this Sega Ages Panzer Dragoon will be a very big revamp.

In spite of a massive TV ad budget (which I'm sure was part of the exclusivity deal) from Microsoft, the game pretty much bombed...

Skies of Arcadia had limited commercial in one obsure channel, yet it sold more...

How would you play Saturn games? They are too big for the flash memory.

Quite a few are probably smaller than we imagine... especially if they discounted/compressed/ommitted audio. The Rev's flash memory sounds expandable too.

Coincidentally, I saw a torrent for Saturn ISOs this morning. The titles going from A-Cl, alphabetically, was 6.5GB alone.
