SingStar Party announced (Weeeeeeeee!)

FUNK-Y-PPA-4
Singstar+booze+friends=funfunfun. This game blows Eyetoy out of the water, go get it NOW.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe today announced the November release of SingStarTM Party, the second title in the popular SingStar series from Sony's London Studio. Released earlier this year, the original SingStar encouraged players to unleash their inner rockstar in an innovative game that analysed their pitch, tone and rhythm whilst singing.

Now, SingStar Party invites players to turn every social occasion into a spontaneous singing session with their friends. Whether you're having a girls' night in, or have just come back from the pub with the lads, SingStar Party is the perfect way to ensure the fun carries on all night long. With a fantastic balance of new tracks ranging from contemporary artists such as Maroon 5 and Scissor Sisters to all-time classics including The Police and Duran Duran, SingStar Party will have everyone battling for their turn on the mic.

SingStar Party builds upon the concept of the first game, adding a wide variety of multiplayer game modes for between two and eight players. A new competitive Duet Mode enables two players to each sing one vocal part of a duet, competing for the highest scores. New "Pass The Mic" team games, featuring a variety of different singing challenges - solo rounds, combined duets, random battles and surprise singer selections - ensure that everyone at the party has a chance to show off their superb singing skills. Pass The Mic also includes a new "Shuffle Token" feature, which allows players to spin the carousel again if they have randomly been allocated a song they don't like.

SingStar Party features fully licensed music from a wide variety of artists and also includes footage of many of the original videos for each song. To compliment the new multiplayer gameplay modes, SingStar Party features many traditional duets, such as "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" by Elton John and Kiki Dee, but every song in the game has been split into two parts so that it can be played as a duet, if desired. In solo mode, the player can sing a duet with the original artist, for example, if you're singing as Elton John, Kiki Dee will join you.

EyeToy compatibility allows players to see themselves singing within the game in place of the artist's video. Once players have had their photo taken, it will pop up whenever it's their turn during Pass the Mic, and photos also appear within the game menus, on the high-score screen for example. Singers are also recorded at key moments during their performance so they can replay the highlights afterwards!

Fans of the first game can take advantage of a special cross-disc compatibility feature that allows them to insert the first SingStar disc at the carousel screen and automatically update their collection with the 30 songs from the original, increasing their SingStar jukebox to 60 songs and also allowing players to sing all of the old songs as duets.

OVERVIEW

Get the party started with SingStarTM Party! Developed by SCEE's London Studio, the studio responsible for EyeToy® and the original SingStar game, SingStar Party is guaranteed to spice up any social occasion with its manic blend of multilplayer fun! The game measures players' pitch, tone and rhythm as they sing into the USB microphone, and analyses how well or badly they sing! Players can practice on their own or dive straight into the action - battling it out with up to seven mates in one of the many new multiplayer games, including competitive Duets, Solos and Battles, plus many other innovative variations on traditional party game modes. Like its predecessor, SingStar Party features a fully licensed track list with a variety of songs from top artists ranging from contemporary artists such as Maroon 5 and Scissor Sisters to classic acts such as The Police and Duran Duran. Many of the tracks feature the original videos for each song. To compliment the new multiplayer gameplay modes, SingStar Party features many traditional duets, such as "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" by Elton John and Kiki Dee, and all of the songs in the game have been split so that they can be played in a collaborative duet mode if desired.

KEY FEATURES:

# 30 new tracks, all featuring the original artist's recordings and video footage.

# Expanded multi-player options provide a more social gameplay experience allowing up to eight people to player at once.

# Game comes with two USB microphones, which plug into PlayStation 2 via an adapter; standalone software version also available for players that already own the first SingStar.

# EyeToy compatibility allows players to see themselves singing within the game, in place of the artist's video. Players are also recorded at key moments during their performance so they can replay the highlights afterwards; players can also take EyeToy photos that will appear within the menus, such as on the high-score screen. The game also includes new EyeToy effects taken from Classic '70s and '80s videos.

# Playback technology allows players to hear their performance and save it to Memory Card if they wish; fun voice distortion effects can alter the player's pitch.

# Freestyle allows players to practice without the pressure of being scored and rated, before trying it out in front of friends.

# The Shuffle Token feature allows players to spin the carousel again if they have randomly been allocated a song they don't like.

# Cross-disc compatibility with SingStar means that owners of the first game can insert the first SingStar disc at the carousel screen and automatically update the carousel with the 30 songs from SingStar 1, increasing the SingStar jukebox to 60 songs. This allows players to sing all of the old songs as duets.

GAMEPLAY MODES:

# Sing Solo - the player can choose to sing a solo track or select one vocal part of a duet and sing against the original artist.

# Collaborative Duet - two players sing their own lines of the same song for a combined score.

# Battle Mode - two players can either sing the whole song or one vocal part of a dedicated duet, competing on scores.

# Pass The Mic Mode breaks down into the following game rounds for 2-8 players:

# Solo Round - players take it in turns to sing a song; the highest score wins.

# Combined Duet - players from the same team sing a duet, then two members from the other team sing the same duet - the highest score wins.

# Battle - players from different teams sing a song at the same time and whoever contributes the bigger score wins.

# Keep It Up - one player performs a song keeping the momentum bar above a certain point. Then a member from the next team attempts the same song and the one with the longest duration wins. If they both complete the song, it's a draw.

# Pass the Mic - teams take it in turns to sing a song. Each team member must sing designated sections of the song to contribute to an overall team score - the highest score wins.

# First To The Post - players from different teams sing a battle and whoever reaches a designated score first wins.

# Risk - teams must score 7500 points or more to win. Each team takes it in turns to sing a song. However, they can choose to Play or Pass, sometimes forcing the other team to sing. The team must surpass 7500 to win. If the other team also achieves 7500, it is a draw. If they don't, the first team wins the round

SingStar Party is scheduled for a November release.

I am so happy right now :D

Been on the fence for so long regarding SingStar, but I'm going to wait for a price drop. It should come soon, especially with SingStar Party on the way.
