Skin bleaching (whitening) products - How is this crap even allowed?

I live In South Korea and these whitening products are popular here. They don't want be white, they just want to have a little control over their skin tone, like tanning.

White skin has indeed been prized in Korea for centuries, well before Westerners had ever set foot on the peninsula. Hendrick Hamel's journal is good evidence for this. Here's a list of things that have only been prized in Korea for the past few decades: a 'high' forehead, an aquiline nose, a narrow face, thin lips, large eyes, and double-folded eyelids.
