Skyward Sword review thread [Newest Reviews - Cubed3 10/10, GC: A, AusGamers: 7/10]

Yeah looking at it now, I will probably not be able to play it until the 25th :\

Game comes out during my honeymoon, I get back night before thanksgiving, then on thanksgiving I will be visiting with family all day.

Gonna test my resolve!

I'm seriously considering getting a Wii just for this game... Is it worth it? I haven't played any of the other good Wii games either.

Yeah, sure. The only bad part about owning a Wii was waiting for shit to come out. Now, it's a good decision to make. Get Skyward Sword, get the Galaxies, and yeah. I dunno, Prime 3? Kart? Brawl? No More Heroes? All good games. Plenty more too.

EDIT: This is the least persuasive thing I've ever written :lol

Wii is pretty cheap right now, and a lot of the great older games for the system are cheap now as well. I'd say it's worth it if you're interested in picking up some of the other games besides just SS.

+ Virtual Console, a huge and underrated selling point

I ordered from Gamestop with the fastest shipping option. It said 1 day for processing and 1 day to ship. Anyone else have experience with Gamestop's deliveries? Should I expect it day of, or day after release?

Post like this always get me, I'm like...seriously?....are you itching just to "buy" something new.....the Wii has been out where have you been lol.

With that said though, the Wii is one of my favorite platforms, you have been missing out so indulge.

Yeah I know. I have at least 50 games for the thing. Were people actually looking for games to play or were they justifying not buying each one for silly reasons?

This and the fact the Wii has a strong contender for GOTY besides the HD twins always having that as a luxury, some gamers want to be apart of that.

So I pre-ordered the bundle from amazon over a month ago. The page for the bundle isn't even there anymore so I'm wondering if this will be an issue or if it's just down because they're out of stock.

4. In desperation walk to K-Mart and buy a second copy just like with OoT3D.
5. Play.
6. Have my Wii die, break brand new HDTV in blind rage.
7. Have a Fred Sanford heart attack.


Some of those may not actually happen.
 
I work til 9 the 19th. I plan on going to midnight opening of my Gamestop and getting my copy of the bundle. I then plan to be highly caffeinated all through the 20th while I play all day. If my wife wants to watch TV that day, too bad. She already knows that on Zelda launch day the living room belongs to me.

I am really going to take my time with this game, explore everywhere, do everything. So excited.
 
So I really want to play this game after seeing a little of, but do you mind me asking this without derailing the thread for too long? How come, my Wii will turn on, but there's no picture on the screen? There's sound, but no picture, it just stays black. I figure out, it must be the cable, so do I need to buy a new one?
 
When it releases I will be at work. I have one more night of work after that, so I am debating whether or not to just wait it out for a whole day and go pick up the game on Tuesday morning when I will be able to play the ever loving fuck out of it distraction-free for at least 5 days straight or to crack it open Monday morning and play a little of it before work just to relieve the itch. Which would you recommend?
 
Since it's coming out on Sunday, I'll be playing all day and night and eat finger foods while playing! But no Doritos or Cheetos. Don't want cheese stains on my new gold Wii-mote!

I just ordered the Zelda bundle from Gamestop moments ago!!


I bit the bullet cuz i don't want to shell out extra $40 on the wiimote with motion + built in. Just saved me $20 bucks. I can't wait 'til it arrives in my mail soon. 15 days to go.
 
Day 1 purchase
Days 1-3: Play Skyward Sword, with occasional breaks to go to class
Days 3-7: Take Wii home over Thanksgiving break, more Skyward Sword with studying breaks
Day 8: Leave Wii at home so I'm not tempted to play Skyward Sword while studying for finals.
Day 25: Resume Skyward Sword

3. Stumble into Gamestop at 8:55 PM with a bunch of old sports games to trade in.

They sell wm+ that connects to plain wiimotes for $20. At least this way you get a new gold wiimote with it built in and a slightly better box.
 
What's a reasonable price (US) to pay for a used Wii on craigslist? On topic because I need it to play Zelda.

Edit: I've owned one in the past, don't hate me.
 
What I'm going to do when it launches?

My latest awesome college project ends that day, so we'll deliver that on time, present it in the most awesome way and head home with a good feeling. I'll arrive at home to find Skyward Sword among the mail. After that it's "OMG ZELDAAAaaaaaa........._______" for about 10 days untill I finish it.
 
Why do some of you actually sell videogame systems only to rebuy them later? What benefit is there to this? People even do it with 360/Ps3. Is there something I am missing?

I'm going to enjoy playing this on my 55" rear projection TV. Not having a fixed native resolution means it handles 480p and 480i content much better than even a high end LCD.

Sell a bunch of them, then get home in the evening, make some delicious dinner, start the game with delicious food in my mouth and cry tears of joy while watching the intro screen.

Or, if I'm not done with Xenoblade by that time, sit down and play Xenoblade instead. I want to get that over with before starting Zelda.

Oh, and after going to bed, I'll fire up Super Mario 3D Land and play it the rest of the night until my eyes give in.

As soon as I get it, I'm ripping it to Dolphin and hoping it works flawlessly. I can't not play this in HD.

I'm really, really hoping the DoF effect is not broken as it is in Wind Waker, because it looks stunning in the media we've seen so far.

Yeah, i know. The total price will end up in $70 range so i just decided to go with the gold anyway. I never preordered a bundle before. This is my first preorder content.




I suck at not looking at for great deals cuz i wasn't conscious all the time for looking one. I look at the full price and wait 'till it drops in a few months. Few months have passed and i forget about it. That's how i am.
