Slate : Was a Trump Server Communicating With Russia?

Fuck complex language. If the media EVER wants to be taken seriously, the needs to be THE story.

Fuck Huma's emails. We have mounting evidence that a presidential nominee is on Russia's payroll. THAT is a major matter of national security. Not some fucking emails.

You know what would be strange if it were true?

That Trump didn't accuse Clinton of doing exactly this. It therefore most probably isn't true, as Trump can't help himself but to project.

Both are stories, unfortunately. The emails are fair game, just as Trump's Russian connections are. The latter seems to be far more serious, provided there is real evidence.
I do have to say that the timing on Trump's Russian connections is as equally concerning as the timing on Comey's decision to send the letter on Clinton's emails.

These October Surprises are really coming in under the wire
Not really an October suprise. The media gives Trump the benifit of the doubt so much, there would have to be a tape of him being chummy to Russia, or have him say it directly to make a difference.

Shit 12 women coming forward saying they were sexually assaulted didn't get nearly as much play as this email shit does.

Too complicated for talking heads.

Yes.

Also it's conjecture based on metadata (DNS requests).

It's entirely possible server was compromised and part of a botnet. The DNS queries could be it trying to check in with the command and control node.

he did though, he said in rallies before that "something was going on" with the Clinton campaign and Russia, and his only defense to being called a puppet for Putin was "no, you're the puppet."

New organizations putting forward investigative journalism vs suppose to be non-partisan and dont interfere with elections, FBI?

Another country (ESPECIALLY russia) meddling with the election and propping up a major party's candidate would be the biggest story of this decade. like absolutely insane.

How? This is old school reporting and what people should be doing.

Comes across as retaliatory. Same as with the Comey thing--why now? They knew about those emails for weeks.

No arguments there.

Don't we do that all the time to other countries?

...

Holy shit, so the story's probably true...
2016 still trying as hard as possible to be one of the worst years ever.

It's the home stretch, it's time to get dirty. This is where the gloves come off, and the shit flinging begins. If the Dems pull this off, it means burying the American right so far back, it'll take years just to push their noses out of their assholes.

Remember that Reid's letter to Comey yesterday stated that the FBI was sitting on explosive evidence that showed "coordination" between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. Not just connections, but coordination. That's huge.

Then they probably should have done it on Friday or Saturday. Just my take.

One is a story that has been beat to bloody death for the last year and has only turned up 3 emails that were improperly marked and whose confidential status was contested between departments.

There other is the latest story in a series of stories about a nominee being dickmatized by Russia.

This story needs to be front page news. This is gigantic and far worse than anyone suspected.
Given Manafort's ties with anti-American protests...this is pretty damning.
Manafort was still on the payroll of Russia's Ukranian puppet party working on their behalf (without publicly declaring as a foreign agent) when he returned to the US.

It's been said before, and it's true: Trump has no basement. Not that any of his supporters care. The GOP has been Russia > Democrats for about a year now.

edit: oh, and "you're the puppet". Trump batting .1000 with the projection.

What am I going to do with myself after the election. It will be so boring out here in these neogaf streets....

Someone needs to get a hold of the actual emails between the Trump campaign and the Russian bank. Without it this story may not have huge legs.

Both the DNC and Clinton campaign Facebook pages shared this story. I expect it to blow up pretty quickly. I was wondering what story they would save for the last week, heres hoping it can fo some damage.

It's interesting but it's not even close to a smoking gun.
They clearly knew how to hide their tracks.
Only a whistleblower can trully blow the lid open and provide the concrete evidence needed for a criminal investigation.

Skimmed the article. Is the implication that because the Alfa bank server is doing nslookups against the Trump server that this is a form of communication? "One NSLOOKUP means 'yes' and two NSLOOKUPs means 'no'?"

If this story is true and the FBI really knew about this and said nothing (while at the same time rushing to release the Clinton email story) then I think it's clear that senior leadership there attempted to manipulate the election for Trump. This is astonishing.

This is concrete evidence that something incredibly weird was going on and more than enough to open an investigation (which has already occurred.)
