I want to believe, but I...don't.

Besides, even if it really WAS some retailer's schedule, they can get dates wrong. And GT5/MAG might be good candidates for wrong dates.

Gofreak, it's from Micromania (the biggest french videogames stores).
The projected dates are given to them by Sony.
I've some doubts about MAG but GT5 is a given :)

Well, at least that UC2 date fits in with ND's comment that it wouldn't hit Europe on the 23rd. It would be pleasant surprise for it to come earlier than that, and just two days after the US.

But...we'll see...

The first tangibles proofs will be the PS3 slim preorders in two weeks.
The clock is ticking !

mag was missing last time ps3gen.fr posted a list of leaked release dates, which is (mostly) why everyone thought it was delayed.

Why is Jack and Daxter spelled wrong?

GT5 in December again... it could happen... right?

All signs have been pointing to it, regardless of the doubt that a lot of people are casting on it... we'll see in a couple weeks I guess.
Yea, I fully expect Gran Turismo 5 to be released this December. Sony is going to string along all the big IP's + price drop and new hardware.
PS3 Slim/Price Drop - Uncharted 2 - Final Fantasy XIII - Gran Turismo 5 - God of War III

A guy that works in a videogame store just told me right now that there will be an official price drop to 300€ (europe) next monday.

But, of course, I can't guarantee this in 100%.

Am I the only one still thinking
/hoping
that it might release in North America before the September 2nd Europe release date?

I mean... that is still a possibility, right? We don't have any evidence at all regarding the NA date, with the exception of the Gamestop guy a couple pages back who mentioned the stickers; all the leaks have been from European stores.

That would be some awesomely intense momentum building.

A Playstation 3 Slim release the week of August 18th is possible. I was in the other thread that is about the convention, and Sony announced the 80GB Playstation 3 at the event, and released it the same week last year.

In order to be distributed worldwide in August 18 thousands of units should be shipped in a lot of countries. Taking in consideration that Sony is not Apple (that uses his own shops to sells the goods, being able to control any leak), probably somebody working in a distribution chain should have discovered now the slim, and we should have any proof.

About the 80Gb PS3, it's not the same. Same shape, different hard drive, it won't create the same expectation.

Multiple Rumors = Page 1-50 of this thread.

At this point it is logistically Impossible for the PS3 Slim to go on sale in 2 weeks. That shit would have leaked a thousand times over by now.

Unless the box is the same dimensions... and it just says don't put out on shelves on it... Most people would think its just the same PS3 with a new game...

We have still no evidence. Photos of a factory, a blurry video of someone that, teorically, bought one in a black market of Philippines (teorically stole from one of those factories), etc. Nothing that proofs that the slim is being distributed worldwide.

It seems really improbable, yeah, but, let me again point to this article, which states that the PS3 Slim has potentially been ready for shipping since the end of last month, I don't think it's necessarily impossible.

As for going without leaks for so long, I would say that, 1) we have in fact had a hell of a lot more leaks than Sony would like, and 2) pulling this kind of "rabbit out of a hat" thing has been done before many times, so to think that it's absolutely impossible is a little pessimistic. It's difficult, yes, and Sony has had quite a few leaks so far; but to think that it would be absolutely impossible for a company to ship something without the world knowing everything about it?

Then again, I do really want it to ship in August, so I know I'm looking at everything from a "best-case-scenario" point of view.

As much as I want to play MAG, even I wouldn't buy it this year because of MW2.

If it came out around that time frame it would get destroyed.

I swear they need to delay that thing to fall 2010

No signs of the MAG beta point to a 2010 release. They already promised a beta before the release and at this point, it wont come out this fall since no beta is being hinted at soon.(prolly around nov-dec so game releases early '10)

Why any PS3 user would want to have more expensive accessories and pay a tax to play online?

I want CHEAPER accessories.

Xbox Live makes a lot of money for Microsoft and in turn Microsoft can handle price drops and does them pretty frequently. The success on Xbox Live also leads numerous Arcade releases that PSN never sees(or they do and it's a month late).

What I think Sony should do is offer a premium subscription that's lower than the cost of Xbox Live which would help offset losses and hopefully attract more publishers to PSN.

Well, It dont seems that the Gold or even the ads of the XBLA bring any good to the users. Yes, maybe they use all that money to buy temporal exclusivities, but the users have to pay for a service that ends being more expensive that the console.

PSN has a lot of publishers. If you look the games, nearly all the games of PSN are exclusivities. And not temporal, full exclusivities. Flow, Flower, all the Pixeljunk, Trash Panic and dozens of games that are exclusives. There are a lot of XBLA games that ends in PSN... but how many games of PSN has gone multiplatform? That's because instead of buying temporal exclusivities, they use the money in creating studios or in finance third-party projects.

Yes, with more money, they can improve the content of the PSN, or creating more first party game. But if you think that Sony worth more money than you pay, don't ask for a Gold subscription, buy more first-party games.

Next Qore episode has MAG coverage alongside other fall releases (Tekken 6, NGS2, Katamari Forever).

Perhaps it's an indication that it is indeed coming this year? Just wondering.

That would be strange considering there isn't a beta for MAG.

Honestly, if they were expecting MAG to release this fall, then the beta would have happened in July, IMHO.

Not that its relevant at all, but it's kind of funny to see every gaffer who wants to see a game do well not release anywhere near MW2. If people were listening to GAF, there would be a 4 month void surrounding the release of every god damn Call of Duty just to make sure it doesn't cut into your sales.

In fairness, the game in question in this thread, MAG, has a pretty valid case for not releasing near a high profile FPS that might overshadow it.

I can guarantee you that the MAG stuff will be pretty much the same stuff we've seen from GT. (MAG Mondays)

If they show newer gameplay/levels, I'll be impressed. BF1943 makes me think MAG could be a great online game. Cant wait to try the beta but no news this late makes a fall release not that likely. We'll see what tomorrows Qore brings us.
