Head of Vengarl
Banned
Just got done with one of the most one-sided victories of my SMITE career...

If it makes you feel better, the person typing in all caps was on the other team, so he was kind of making fun of himself. My teammates didn't talk any trash; we mostly praised them for not surrendering. But I'm not going to defend the MOBA playerbase, because it's full of assholes. Just play with friends if you can. That chat window is the exact reason why I will never get involved in MOBA games.
The majority of those builds - on both teams - make me cringe, with the exception of Cupid, Ares and Loki.
That said, apparently HiRez is gonna preview Bacchus today.
That chat window is the exact reason why I will never get involved in MOBA games.
In case anyone missed it.

Also yes, Thor finally got his teleport-to-hammer back!
Below are preliminary patch notes for the next major update. We currently expect this to be released some time next week.
New God: BACCHUS
(PASSIVE) Drunk-O-Meter
Bacchus loves the drink and as Bacchus drinks from his jug, he becomes more intoxicated. When he is Tipsy, he takes 5% less damage and gains +20 Physical Power. When he is Smashed, he takes 10% less damage and gains +40 Physical Power.
Chug
Bacchus takes a drink from his jug, filling his Drunk-O-Meter 22/28/34/40/46% and giving him a 10/15/20/25/30 physical power buff for 6s. Bacchus celebrates when he kills an enemy god, giving him 10% on his meter. Cost - 50/80/110/140/170 mana. Cooldown - 15s.
Belly Flop
Bacchus jumps into the air and, not so gracefully, comes slamming to the ground belly first, knocking all enemies into the air and dealing 90/130/170/210/250 (+70% of your magical power) magical damage. If he was Tipsy, all enemies are also slowed by 30% for 3s after they land. Cost - 70/75/80/85/90 mana. Cooldown - 16s.
Belch of the Gods
Bacchus lets out an obnoxiously loud belch, doing 20/35/50/65/80 (+15% of your magical power) magical damage every .5s for 2s. If you are Tipsy, enemies are stunned for 1s and their healing is debuffed by 50% for 3s at the end of the channel. Cost - 70/75/80/85/90 mana. Cooldown - 14s.
Intoxicate
Bacchus smashes his jug of wine on the ground, intoxicating all nearby enemies, doing 250/325/400/475/550 (+70% of your magical power) magical damage and slowing them by 20% for 8s. If he is Smashed, Bacchus also gains 35/50/65/80/95 physical power because of his anger over his lost wine! Cost - 95 mana. Cooldown - 90s.
New Skins:
Mountain Man Odin
Regal Reveler Bacchus
General Features
The overall lobby UI has undergone significant changes, with further significant changes to come in future releases. In this release, we introduce a new top-bar navigation, new screens for the Play Now and Social features, and several other improvements. NOTE: Some elements of the old user interface still exist and will be phased out in future releases. Some elements of the new UI are still incomplete and will be refined in future releases. Thank you for your patience during this transition period.
All Conquest and Arena modes now start with a God Ban process in the match lobby. The top player on each team is given the opportunity to ban one god (so two total gods can be banned from play). The five free gods are ineligible to be banned. The banned gods will not be eligible to be picked.
The process for forming and sustaining parties has been changed. Parties are now formed separately from the queue joining process (via the SOCIAL menu). After a match ends, your party remains formed and you can rejoin a queue immediately.
Friend relationships in the game now require both players to consent to the friendship before they are initiated. A player that wishes to friend another sends an invite, which can be accepted or denied. This system is managed from the SOCIAL menu. You may need to reform some friend relationships, based on this change.
The In-Match Item Store now has a separate tab for Recommended Items.
You now earn separate first win of the day bonuses for Arena, Conquest, and Joust Gamemodes. The reward is 100 favor for each mode.
The methodology for seeding your initial rating in Ranked Matches has changed. Player rankings are being updated to reflect the new algorithm. Ranked Matches will be down for up to 12 hours following the patch while ratings are updated.
The normal Arena and Conquest queues now operate on a 5-minute match-making timer. Every five minutes, matches will be made from the group of people in queue at that time. This helps optimize match-making. The system will be closely analyzed and tweaked over time as appropriate.
There is now a Challenge Queue for Arena (currently under the Custom tab on the PLAY menu). This allows pre-made five-person teams to challenge each other to a match. Note that the UI for forming challenge matches is expected to change in future releases.
Spectators no longer have UP/DOWN control in all situations.
Fixed bug that prevented spectators from joining full arena matches.
The default key binding for the Death Recap screen has been moved from R to Y (for Y did I die?!).
A large number of changes have been made to the Voice Command (i.e., VGS) system. There are
47 new voice commands (including a new SELF menu). In addition, some commands now have different shortcuts.
Players now start with 1500 gold in all gamemodes (previously Arena started higher).
A new SETTINGS option has been added to Enable Quickcast. When enabled, your abilities will fire immediately upon releasing the abilities button. While the ability button is pressed, you can still see and adjust the ground target. The separate keybindings for Quick Abilities have been removed.
Abilities
All abilities have been priced at 600 gold.
The passive portion of all of the store purchased abilities is now always on.
All abilities instantly fire when pressed now. None of them will show a ground target first.
Heavenly Agility
This item no longer stacks with other Heavenly Agilitys.

Thor
Mjolnirs Attunement
With the resurgence of Loki, Mjolnir is further attuned with Asgardian power to provide Thor an expedient means of apprehending the deceiver.
At any time during the hammers path, pressing 1 again will teleport Thor to his hammer.
I like the quick cast changes. I actually said last night to my friend that I wish ability items were used instantly. And He-Bo's ult should be a bit less enraging when trying to "spam" it out of a stun to escape. Among lots of other things. Ares will be even more useless in arena now, though.
Oh you guys. You guys won't believe what I found, hah.
Massive stash of shit coming right at us, including 3 (!) new maps, each of which are themed after a pantheon. And one of these pantheons doesn't even have a god yet...!
Also, the next god seems to be Hercules.
hirez why do you hate ranged classes?

NEW MAP
NEW MODE
HNNNNNNNG OH YES
Because throwing/shooting stuff is for wussies, duh.
No but I agree, I really would like more ranged characters, the last 5000000 have been melee.
And regarding the new content I datamined, you can check my thread over at the BLG forum (too lazy to copypaste it all).
HirezShadowControl said:In the next patch (end of this week if all goes well) we expect the following for bans:
1. Conquest will probably be the only mode initially that will get bans
2. Any God will be available for bans
3. Each team gets one ban at this point, the top play on the list gets to ban
We will also start a 5 free God rotation (probably weekly swaps) in addition to the 5 permenent free Gods. Players will have more choice and it allows for any God to be banned.
HirezShadowControl said:Here are some additional misc items we are working on for the next patch:
- Jungle minions (not including GF or FG) will only give 50% of the existing XP for killing them. This is to help keep players in lanes or ganking and using the buffs to make them more powerful while not out-leveling the lane.
- Yellow buff is getting reduced to 30 from 50 resist
- A new fastcast option is being added. This is similar to quickcast but happens as soon as you hit the ability key, there is no aim assist. In the future this will be programmable per God/Ability instead of being universal.
- A region selection will be added, if there are enough players to create a good match in a specific region it will be set to that location. Most likely it will mean that when you play at US or EU prime time you will get the match at that location.
- Domination game play mode will be released, it may have a limited schedule to start with
- Matches should launch faster after the timer is done (shorter 'matching' time)
- Base speed up 10%
- In hand projectile speed increase for mages
HiRezErez said:There are several things coming of the next few patches for L/D/T
- In the upcoming patch at the end of this week, all player movement base speed is being raise by 10%, L/D/T speeds are not changing. This change is being made to make the Conquest map feel a bit smaller and also to diminish the value of L/D/T to some extent.
- Most gods with L/D/T will have some rework done (not in this patch) to give each a more unique (and sometimes more limited) way to use their leap or dash. For example some will only be able to be use for initiation, some may require a target, etc
- Some map changes will also be made to make certain areas no longer accessible to leaps and teleports.
HiRezErez said:The following changes are being tested for next patch (which should be out at the end of this week if all goes well)
- Purification beads: Active also clears pulls now. Cooldown to 120s.
- Creeping curse: Active now reduces movement speed to 30% (from 35%). Cooldown to 150s.
- Heavenly Agility: Active now increases movement speed buff to 40% (from 35%), duration is reduced from from 5 seconds to 3 seconds, and will now ignore slows. Cooldown to 150s.
- HoG: Active damage to minions is reduced by 20%, passive changed to player taking 30% less damage from Large jungle buff minions instead of getting heals from minions. Cooldown stays 90s.
- Intensify defenses: Active also increase the physical and magical resist of the tower by 100. Passive also removes penalty to player gold from towers hitting enemy minions. Cooldown stays 90s.
- Sprint: Active duration changed to 6 seconds (from 10). Cooldown to 150s.
- Meditation: Passive change to when below 40% of your mana, your mana regenerates 2x faster Cooldown to 120s.
- Girdle of Might: No changes
- Aegis Amulet: No changes
New Gamemode: Domination
Several Obelisks of Power have appeared in Egypt. Control them to gain victory.
Average game time is around 20 minutes.
Match Objectives:
There are three control points.
Each team starts with 400 tickets.
Enemy tickets are reduced when your side controls two of the three points, as well as for each enemy kill.
Reduce the enemy team to zero tickets to win the match.
Other Info:
You start at level three with 1500 gold.
Neutral camps provide buffs but do not deduct tickets.
Your team respawns together in waves.
You will earn normal match rewards. Note that Domination has its own first win of the day bonus.
General Features:
[STILL TESTING. PRELIMINARY] In addition to the five permanently free gods (Ra, Kali, Ymir, Sun WuKong, and Artemis), there will now be an additional five free gods at any point in time.
The free additional gods will rotate over time. (You will still need to purchase a god in order to ensure permanent access).
When you first enter the match lobby in either Conquest Normal or Conquest Ranked gamemodes, the top-ranked player on each side now has the opportunity to ban a god from play. When a god is banned, it is banned for both sides. All gods are bannable (Note that we had previously communicated that free gods would not be bannable, but reversed that decision after adding the additional free rotating gods).
Region Settings:
If enough people are in queue we respect your preferred region when match making. You choose your preferred region on the PLAY screen.
In the Settings menu, you can now choose between 3 different ability casting options:
Normal Casting Mode: A targeting decal is placed on the ground when you hit the ability button, and then the ability is fired when you left mouse click.
Quick Casting Mode: A targeting decal is placed on the ground when you push down the ability button, and the ability is fired when you release the ability button.
Instant Casting Mode: The ability is fired as soon as you press the ability button, with no targeting decal.
Match Making:
The time spent in a “matching state” on timed queues is now drastically reduced, so that you should be sent into the match lobby much faster.
Auto-purchase settings will now be stored server-side at a player level. This should prevent users have these settings reset after each patch (Note: Settings will be reset upon this patch, but should not be reset during the next patch).
If you receive a party invite while alt-tabbed out of the game, you will now receive an out-of-match notification, similar to the notification you receive when you are alt-tabbed out of the game and receive a match invite.
Towers have had their health increased (Roughly 10% excluding Phoenixes).
UI Changes:
The Settings menu has undergone a UI overhaul. There are now tabs for different settings areas.
The Play button on the top-bar menu is now better highlighted.
A variety of UI cleanups have been made to the PLAY screen. This includes:
Users may also now select their preferred server region.
Your last selected tab is persisted across logins (so you will return to the PvP tab if that was your last selected tab the last time you played).
The buttons now read “Join” and “Leave” instead of “Join Queue” and “Leave Queue”.
Once you join a queue, you are restricted from clicking on other queues until you leave the queue.
Several other cleanups.
The sizing and positioning of the in-game web browser has been modified.
The sell button in the in-game item store has been modified.
Several cleanups and improvements have been made to the Social menus.
