The ability to have separate resolutions and screen types between the overall game lobby and a match has been removed. You now set a single resolution and screen type for the game on the VIDEO tab of the SETTINGS menu. The “dual mode” resolution system was causing confusion among new users, as well as crash conditions on some PCs.
Thank god. That was so annoying.

Aphrodite
Love Birds
The damage has been increased from 10/17/24/31/38 to 15/25/35/45/55 a tick.
Awesome! It was a bit underwhelming before.

Bastet
Pounce
Bastet can now return pounce even when under crowd control, removing all of the crowd control effects on her at the time.
Bastet now moves 25% faster while she is in her return pounce state.
O_O Wtf! So if she gets stunned she can still jump back? Bastet confirmed for the most annoying god in the game.

Addressed an issue with leapers getting stuck in walls and ascending to the sky.
Aww...

Man I tried to play this ...

I'm a bit of a graphics whore and I just can't get past them.

That and a lot of the Gods feel same-y to me.

The graphics part I completely understand, but which gods felt same-y to you? I'll acknowledge that SMITE doesn't do as good of a job as Dota 2 when it comes to amazingly diverse hero skills, but still I've never felt that any of the gods were too similar.

I don't mean specifically or in relation to another God within the game .... just in general.

A lot of ranged champs with a "line" skill shot .... then some sort of speed boost / gap closer ... then some sort of CC or ground target ability ... and then a unique ultimate.

Same issues with some of the melee champs ... though feels like more variation there ... nothing terribly unique though ... some champs feel borrowed from other games. IE Sobek .... feels like a mixture of Singed and an ult like Nunu where the longer you "channel" the ult the more damage it does.

Portal
Using this item creates a portal entrance at your spawning location and a portal exit at your ground target. A player standing on the portal entrance will teleport to the exit, consuming both the entrance and exit in the process. Cooldown - 180s
That's interesting.

Apollo patch is up:

Anubis is one of the free gods right now so I tried him out in Arena last night. Perhaps he's more suited for Conquest, because he felt really underwhelming in Arena. Sure I could get his wombo combo off and kill people... but then again I could just play someone like Artemis, Cupid, Sun Wukong who can kill single targets almost as easily without having to use their ults. As far as mages in Arena go, Poseidon, Zeus, and Agni seem like way better choices because of their strong AoE abilities.

played this game for the 1st time yesterday... surprisingly fun
was playing arena mode though
what does level do in this game? the level of your account (above the currency needed to buy the gods)
i think i heard some streamers saying i should just concentrate with arena all the way until level 30 or something?

Level affects matchmaking... that's it I think.

They probably mean to play arena til 30 for the fastest leveling... I guess for the bonus favor per level? I don't see why you should unless you want to face other higher level players faster. I say mix it up. It's good to know how to play all modes.

Whats the general impression of this?

I played some matches so far I think its good, but I'm not sure about the last long appeal of it, or its e-sport potential.

Personally I think its the best (or only?) 3rd person MOBA around.

I've been playing for 6 months now (or maybe longer ... I started playing when it was released).

personally I love the game ... It feels very unique compared to other DOTA's, in part because of the third person view.

to the guy that asked if he should stick to Arena until 30 ... Hell no. The game is fine tuned for conquest. You would be doing yourself a disservice to miss out on it for 30 levels.

Also just a reminder ... free RA Alienware skin. A little under 4 thousand keys left --

And it's the second last day to get the Solar Ra Free Skin via Facebook:

Thanks for the heads up. Snagged the cool looking Alienware skin just now. For the Solar Ra skin, do I have to make a new Facebook account if I already Liked them to get the red Sun Wukong skin?

I think that it was one or the other. I know they changed the facebook giveaway skin to solar Ra awhile back.

The skins are a cool giveaway, and something that down the road may be really unique as there is no other way to get them.

Agreed. I've never really gotten in to MOBAS due to the Diablo style of play but the 3rd person skill shot based combat makes Smite really fun to me. It makes it pretty unique as well. The only other game really doing it is Super Monday Night Combat but the last time I tried to play that, the prices for everything there were ridiculous and the game was extremely noob unfriendly (I mean from a UI and learning the game standpoint).

I managed to play a game with Apollo today and he's really fun. Does some pretty crazy physical damage especially early on and his Ult is ridiculous. Later when you have enough mana, you can use it to ride from base to base in seconds.

Also thanks for the heads up on this!

np!

currently I use Vamana, Vulcan, Hades and Aries. I'll always have a soft spot for Vamana, he was the first god I got really good at using.

Aries is a beast when combined with a partner like Hades, and Vulcan is king at area of denial with his specials.

Nah, you can get the red Ra skin if you got red Wukong, I did the same. :)

Snap, had our Ymir leave about 10 seconds into a conquest game, wound up having to solo as Apollo against Zeus and Poseidon, wrecked them, and they wound up surrendering about 15 minutes in. Lesson learned - 4v5 isn't always a loss.

I'm sad Smite doesn't get more love on GAF. The game really has a hardcore following that feels like its growing every day.

Also 3k of the alienware ra skin keys left.

i'd be more into it if i can get friends to play together for pubstack
gaffers add me to friend's list pls?
nick is Qvoth
i'm still only at level 3 though, only played 4 games so far, 3 arena and 1 arena mode but for tank gods only

Yeah, they're gonna release at around 40 gods, they said. So with 2 gods per month, some time in summer.

That said, unless I really grind out the game every single day, I won't get that skin. I'm only at level 13 (I like playing the game, but I don't do it often). Hoping they release some sort of alternative way to get it. :p

I kinda hope they don't. I know it seems unfair, but I think it's a nice way of Hi-Rez rewarding their most loyal players. It will serve as a badge of honor for them to show off once the game goes live — especially down the line where it will have an "oh look, that guy is one of the old-school level 30s" novelty.

Well I've been one of their most loyal players as well. I've been playing this game ever since it came out to the public as closed Beta. Plus, I've purchased a lot of gems and the god pack as well, so I'm financially invested.
I just don't have the time or nerves to play enough to reach level 30.

Ah I didn't know it was a girl. I wonder what type of god she will be?

That's true. I've been a pretty loyal player — not so much in the past few months but I played religiously before that, getting level 30 pretty quickly — but I've never spent real money on SMITE. Maybe they should give an extra skin to people who spent money in beta.

oh man i really like the concept of using gods in this game
guan yu, sun wu kong, now na zha!
maybe er lang shen in the future?
never heard of the other chinese gods though
nick is Qvoth, add me up guys i have 0 friends :(

This game is pretty awesome. Not being great at MOBAs, I'm a little terrified to try Conquest just yet, but I've done decently playing Arena and Domination with Cupid.

Nezha doesn't really have an "effeminate" design, unless of course, you only look at him in a 21st century Western view.
His features and body are that of a boy or young man, the hairstyle was rather common for children, and even men in ancient China. The colors reflect Nezha's affiliation to the lotus flower (mainly the pink petals), and jade green also is a very important color, often representing deities and emperors (which were deified anyway).
As you can see, there's nothing effeminate about the character's design at all if you look at him lore-wise.

Also, pink used to be a very manly color in our culture as well - red was the color of masculinity, and pink was its "smaller" version, thus boys (at least in noble families that could afford dying their clothing) often would wear pink.
Ironically, blue was considered a female color. It wasn't until I think the late 19th/early 20th century in which those 2 colors swapped "places" with blue going to boys and pink to girls.

See, I'd be all over getting Cacodemon for buying lotsa gems and the god pack in Beta even tho I didn't reach Level 30. It should be another way of receiving it imo. :<

lol at the teen wolf placeholder art for fenrir
Just saw that on the Smite Wiki. Hahaha.

holy shit the tits in this game
Aren't you a LoL player? I hear that game is the MOBA-genre leader in fanservice.

Since you said "our culture" I'm going to assume you're of Chinese descent? If so, I apologize if I offended you. Yes, I do have a 21st century Western view, where boys are dressed in blue and girls are dressed in pink. :P I did not know about the significance of pink in Chinese lore. Honestly I know very little about Chinese culture, though I've learned a little more recently because I was learning about the Mongolian conquests, which heavily involved China. I had no idea that the Chinese used to have a navy that was likely the most sophisticated in the world. They even grew citrus trees on them so their sailors wouldn't get scurvy — fucking genius!

Lol, no, I'm not Chinese, I'm Russian.
I meant "our culture" as in "Western culture". Boys in blue/girls in pink is a REALLY recent development.
