Smoothest Vodka (or alcoholic drink) you've ever tasted?

For the uninitiated, 'smoothness' refers the range/scale of which the presence of alcohol has a perceptibly harsh or strong aftertaste. The higher the smoothness, the greater the absence of such aftertaste.

For me personally, my pick would be:

Oval

This is, without a doubt, the smoothest Vodka I've ever tasted. I'm not entirely sure what the distillation process is for this spirit, but it might as well be water. When used in a cocktail, you wouldn't even be able to detect the presence of alcohol.

Unfortunately, I've only been able to acquire this vodka via import, but it's absolutely worth the cost if you're interested in making drinkable cocktails.

So, GAF, in your experience, what is the smoothest Vodka/spirit you've ever tasted? Please include a picture of the spirit of your choosing with your response.

Grey Goose is amazing.

However I have fond memories of some cheap vodka that I've only come across once called Sputnik. It was absolutely gorgeous and I've never encountered it since.

Grey Goose is the correct answer. I drink that straight from the bottle. Smirnoff is trash tier, tastes like swill.

Huh? What did I say? Did I screw up again? :(
Maybe this thread can help me understand this. Why does 80 proof Vodka taste more like alcohol than Bacardi 151? Don't me wrong... 151 fucks me up quicker but I can drink way more of it in a night than Vodka. I don't know if my taste bud is changing but the older I get, the harsher Vodka feels.

What gives GAF?!

Disaronno and pineapple juice. Tastes like pure candy in a cup.

As far as straight liquor goes, captain morgan tattoo tastes like a spicy sweet treat.

I don't drink much, but a Burt Reynolds shot tastes great and it is super smooth.

1/2 butterscotch schnapps, 1/2 spiced rum.

This is delicious, I agree.

Grey Goose. It's really good. It didn't even feel like vodka at the beginning.

Greg Goose hands down...it's worth the price. Avoid expensive garbage like Ciroc

Grey Goose is the good stuffs. I like to chase it down with mango or pineapple juice.

Lots of grey goose fans! It was one of my first premium vodkas and I've always enjoyed it. Oval is smoother but grey goose is good vodka.

Like butter.

I need to try this.

I've drank umpteen cocktails where you can't taste the alcohol so I dunno.

Well, I'm mainly talking about the smoothness of the spirits themselves. Of course, any cocktail can be smooth if you strip it of enough alcohol.

Never had it. I'll have to check it out!

Russian Standard is go to, only Vodka I can sip straight.

Love Russian Standard!

Good choice.

I don't think the proof has much to do with it. Perhaps you just prefer the taste of rum over Vodka?

Grey Goose is the smoothest vodka that I've had.

Pina Colava at California Adventure is the smoothest drink that I've had. I've had it multiple times and I could never taste the rum.

First had it at the micro-distillery itself in Spokane. I now can find it at total wine in Phoenix.

That's just the thing. I used to really like vodka. Now I can still stomach Grey Goose but Absolute is just too much for me... I feel like I'm gonna peel paint instead of drink a beverage :(

Not much of a drinker so I'm sure I'll be laughed at when I say Amaretto. never tasted like alcohol went down super smooth.

Crystal Head? Never had the pleasure.

I rarely drink Cognac, but if it's smooth, I'll have to give it a try!

Sambuca

Smoothest 40% liquor

Oh really?

Never heard of it.

Smooth & inexpensive. Texas makes good vodka, who'da thunk?

And my local choice. Great whiskey too.

YES! Out of the inexpensive vodkas, Tito's is definitely one of the smoothest. Only bested by

The bendy straw helps give the illusion of smoothness

Is there actual science behind this?

Your taste changed.

Yeah, that's the only thing I can think of.

Is it available nationwide now? I'd love to taste it!

You need to drink middle tier liquors. Seriously.

High end stuff is very rich and flavorful, lower end is heavy and very sharp.

But mid-tier, Whiskey, for example, is very smooth and crisp. No real aftertaste at all.

Some of the best parts about drinking good whisky/bourbon is the aftertaste.

I've read online that if you filter bottom-shelf/rail vodka through a charcoal water filter (like a Brita, for example) that it DRASTICALLY improves the smoothness of it. I'm not sure if it's BS or not as I haven't tried it and I'm not much of a vodka fan, but I'm curious if other GAFfers have.

This sounds like complete fiction, but I guess it doesn't hurt to try!

Not sure. It might say on the side of the carton. But I don't speak Russian.

You'd have to ask Trump

LMAO

9 times distilled?! Aren't there diminishing returns at that point? Nevertheless, that vodka is now on my radar. Thanks!

I only really drink cheap Vodka so they always kind of sucked but then I picked up a of Fris and it was so good. It's definitely the smoothest cheap vodka I've ever had and don't feel like I have to move on to the more expensive ones.

Very easy to drink straight. Cheap af too.

I wonder if my local store has this, or do you have to import this personally?

Yes, Frïs is by far the smoothest of the cheap Vodkas. There are smoother Vodkas (like Oval), but practically speaking (and especially if you're on a budget), you don't even need to move beyond Frïs to truly enjoy good Vodka.
