I waited at the mall for an hour and a half trying to scoop one of the raffle Black Toes.
Manager at the store became very hesitant. He threw out like 6-7 of us vultures. I came back later and he "said" corporate said not to sell the shoes, wait for the raffle winners.

If your definition of junk is 'not as hype', sure, otherwise I'll have to disagree. In terms of quality the Jordan Brand retros have been consistently mediocre, and what Nike's done with their recent Foamposite retros are a crying shame. All Nike's got going for their shoe releases are hype, really. The quality of the materials in Reebok's Kamikaze 2 retros compare shockingly well to any of the JB rereleases, for a third of the price. Adidas has a back catalogue that goes on forever and their trainers are certainly not junk. The ZX line, Gazelles, Trimm Trabbs...not as hyped but Adidas sneaks have far more heritage than Nike
They take about 2-3 wears for the heel support to break in, after that they're super comfy. It's a pretty light shoe as well, so that's a plus point.
Talking bout the looks. Someone mentioned New Balance earlier, I about died laughing. Can't stand them, most reeboks, and most Adidas, etc. I like pumas, but they don't mesh well with my taste in clothes. Love me some Dunks, some Jordan, Air Max,and some forces.No other brand really scratches the same itch. Like those D-Rose shoes, I thought at first " when did rose sign with some janky off brand?"
Completely agree. Nike is always killing the game looks wise. Quality? Thats a different story. But it aint like folks are hooping in these for the most part. Its all for vanity.

New Balance are awesome. I know Mark swears by 574s (despite my disdain for them). If we're talking quality then they're up there. The suede, leather, comfort, durability, etc are something else. My favorite shoe of the year and my daily beater is the Navy 990 Anniversary.
And if we're talking hype, they had the Mojito's, Tassies, the upcoming Invincible 1400s, etc.
And Nikes latest shoes are great. Their signature basketball line, especially the Lebrons are great. The Kobe 8s are amazing, light, comfortable, etc. The Jordan XX8 is probably one of the top-end b-ball shoes.
Nike is a billion dollar company and the prime reason and engine of this current shoe climate (Yeezy, AJ XI, Lebrons, etc), but they're definitely not the only game in town.

I wouldn't agree with that. I'm not a sneakerhead by any stretch of the imagination but simply based on the shoes posted in this thread Nike/Jordan has more vomit worthy shoes than any other brand.
But I mean, this is coming from someone who only likes 3's and 4's from Jordan's and thinks everything else from that line looks like clearance rack L.A. Gear from Walmart so...

Opinions are like people, there are billions of them.
Personally, Nike has a lot of hot shoes. Roshes, Flyknit Lunar+, Free 5.0, Air Max 90, Air Max 87, Air Max 95, Chuckposites, Lebron X, Lebron XI, Kobe 8, KD 6, AJ XX8, blah, blah, blah.
I don't know why we have to bash others opinions or tastes. I didn't like the shoe that was posted but if dude wants them, then do him.
Anyways, I was able to nab a pair of Black Toes, size 12 this morning. My real size is 11.5 but AJ 1s are a bit tight.
Glad perseverance paid off after striking out online.
I like them. I'd say go for it. Saw them at the Nike store in Chicago and thought they were pretty nice.

And I wasn't paying resell prices for Air Jordan 1s. Don't care if they're Breds, Shadows or Royals. Hell, I didn't pay full price.
I like the 1s but they should be like AirForce 1s in availability and pricing. The tech is prehistoric and quality poor (much like all the older retros).
Good luck in finding a pair. Nike didn't make it easy.
A decade ago, may be longer, they were $80 and no one really cared about them at all. Was able to walk in and get any color way, bought 3 Breds at the time, one to ball in, one to wear, and one to store away. Loved the shoe, had a few different colors. Still have a dead stock pair of Breds. High tops are in right now so the 1s are a hot commodity, Nikes just fanning the flames. Meanwhile the resellers are the ones benefitting the most. Relatively cheap, good markups, easy cash.
Didn't even attempt to get a pair, it's just too much of a hassle.
Talked a reseller down to $180 for Black Toes. Hope that guy enjoys the extra $28 he got me for.
Quality is on par with the Knicks pairs IMO, which isn't bad. It's been such a disgusting May for me; Playoff XIIIs, Bred 1s and Infrared VIs and II'm seriously done with Jordan Brand.

The quality is crap. Just not a turd burglar like the Chicago 1s, which is the worst of the retro 1s.
Quality is Royal=Black/Gold=Knicks=Black Toes>Chicago 1>= AJ1 Mids
I understand the Jordan Brand has a lot of name value but anytime you buy a retro know you're buying a piece of history, possibly a rekindling of childhood memories or MJ milestone.
It isn't anything like say a Transformers Masterpiece but a copy of the 1980s toy mold. I wish the prices were cheaper for retros considering tech, etc has come so far. I'd rather ball in Roses, Kobe's and performance kings Lebron X/Jordan XX8.

Which 990? OG aka Anniversary or the V3? I like the Anniversaries. You want to talk quality. Those are like Lexuses. The suede. The leather. Vibram sole. Stitching. Comfort. My daily beater is the Navy 990 Anniversary. Can't wait for the Green 990 Anniversary.
I'm not a huge fan of the 574s.

I dig the upper on these Yamamoto Adidas, but ugh, the sole is so bad.

Loving the AM1's The fit is a little different to the Essentials, but still amazing.. Not seen these too many places yet.
These Roshe's are just sweet. One of the best new designs out there IMO. The woven look is really smart and the suede quality make these! Again IMO.

Hey everyone, first time posting. I'm not really a sneakerhead, but got into shoes when the Lebron 9s came out. It is just an awesome shoe imo. Got some Miami Nights, Scarfaces, Breds and some Kobes and then waited for the Lebron X's and was terribly disappointed. Now I'm seeing this shot of the Lebron 11's and I'm let down again. I don't know if you guys like it.

Nice cop. Those AM1s were what I was hoping they were giving out at the first scavenger hunt location last week (ended up being the 180) - very underrated shoe
Have had, like, 4 different Roches in my cart at different times over the past year, but always balked cause I thought they didn't have enough going on - this multi-texture style might just be what I was looking for - thanks for the heads up!

Have you seen the Mojito's, the Devils that were posted above or the upcoming Invincible 1400s? They're crack.
The only thing that could be considered "old" is the soles? Something they're a bit thick (yeah, yeah, that's what she said).
And we've gotten teased on the Lebron XI and KD VI. I've been underwhelmed so far but it's probably just a case of the wrong color way/design.
The X was definitely a disappointment after the Lebron 9s. But we did get some decent color ways/designs like the Corks, Denims, Red Suede, Black Suede, Pure Platinum, Setting Sun, Home Elite, Floridians, Gold Medals, BHMs, etc.
And the Sun Pack for the Air Maxes looks hot. I'm not a real Max guy. I did like the January AM1, AM90, AM95 retros (and the subsequent EM rereleases).
The only Roshe I've liked so far were the Yeezy inspired ones. But you can ID them, which is awesome.
I did like the colors on those purple new balance, probably the best looking NB I have seen.

what's gaf's opinion on the crimson iii's from a while ago?
I think if they went with a neutral color instead of purple on the sole it could have been good. Not the most offensive Retro+ colorway, but personally I'm not really into em.
I had a good look at the at the weekend and my opinion is that if you're not that into Jordans style but want to get into them, this would be where you'd start.
I'll be honest, I really liked them.. with the purple sole too. However, AM1's (4pr), Roshe's (2pr)and AF1's (2pr) are more my style so that may tell you something. lol

I like the 11's already much more than the 10's. I didn't like a single Lebron until the 9's and was extremely disappointed with the X's. I have to see a few colorway's before buying a pair of the 11's.Yup. I have never been a fan of any Lebrons, but I like those.

I just don't like the drastic changes. I mean they're still clunky and big like always, but they've lost a lot of the sleek, aerodynamic feel to them. And the tomahawk on the side reminds me too much of the Seminoles. Seems like their official look if you adjust these colors a bit.

Considering a pair as well, and looks like a bunch here have them too, so they're probably pretty good.
I tried on a pair and damn, they were crazy light on my feet. Just got off the phone with a local place that had the Dynamic Anthracite Roshes, but they're out of my size (as usual). I think I may just go for my Liberty iD ones off nike.com after I hopefully get my mambacurials next week.
i love them... So comfortable and different enough enough to not them on every street.
there's enough colourways and styles to go with anything you own.
there not stupid money either.
