psh whatever. joke's on them. I'll just buy one from a scalper for $400. they're losing out on money
This is some weapons grade optimism!

I'm giving up hope of getting a SNES through an online retailer. I might have to do something I've never done before and camp outside a bm store to get a 27 year old console... How early should I get there?
Walmart charged my card. I thought they didn't charge till it shipped?
whatever. I guess that means I'm in
I hear all kinds of horror stories with eBay where buyers lie to get a refund from the seller. And it sounds like that's something that would happen constantly with a rare item being sold for 2-3x retail.Yeah, I was torn about throwing some SNES Classics on eBay immediately. Yeah, I could get some sales, but folks could just ask for a refund if the stock situation improves in stores.

Like what's stopping someone from buying a mini nes of eBay for $250, demanding a refund because it's "broken", and sending a box of rocks back to the seller?
I could never sell one of these on eBay.
I'm trying to figure out if it's alright on eBay to explicitly prevent returns and refunds.
Yeah you can choose to not accept return/refund.You can choose not to accept returns (I think there's a setting for it when you create a listing and you should also explicitly state that in the description). Not sure if that protects from buyer fraud though.
Yeah you can choose to not accept return/refund.
I assume you're still protected if you can prove that the buyer did indeed and you a box of rocks.
How would you prove that? Unless the buyer has done it multiple times there is no way to stop this. I sold an Alienware Alpha and got an empty retail box in its place.
Guess who lost money? The guy with an empty box. Was the last ebay sale for me.
I think ebay/PayPal can take the money out of your account without you agreeing to it. Or they don't release the hold on the payment if it they hadn't already. You gave money back before getting the pc returned?

Have you not sold on eBay before? I only did once or twice. I found it intimidating and nerve wracking.

My Walmart order got cancelled
My Walmart order got cancelled
I ordered right after the nowinstock emails went out and before wario and nintendeals sent out tweets. Fuck
My Walmart order got cancelled
What reason did they give?
What reason did they give?
I've sold and bought stuff on ebay. I need to check out what ebay says about refunds.
I've dealt with scammers buying items and sending fake paypal invoices
That they couldn't acknowledge my billing address even though I ordered from there last week. Assholes.
Couldn't snag a US preorder. Guess I'm slumming it with the homeless the night before.
Highly recommend a slightly different approach. The morning it releases, be online and ready to pounce. Virtually all of the major retailers will sell via their websites at some point on release day, especially those that didn't do preorders.
If you can just be on point on the computer on September 29 you've got a really good shot at it. I miraculously was able to get one via walmart but I'm going to be trying to get another on release day and I think the online method is the way to go versus camping out somewhere.
Go now or you'll miss out
I plan on calling a few stores the night before, if a store has 15+ it'll be a decent spot to camp out
I'll go around 5 am I guess since most stores open around 9/10 am here, maybe 4 am
The only tough thing will be dealing with line cutters /people holding spots for their friends.
I've gone to a TRU at around 4 before when they had 20 nes classics. Missed by about 10 people. I imagine you're gonna have to come even earlier.
A friend of mine told me today that she grabbed a second SNES classic from the Walmart opening for me and my wife since we missed the window. Hope it stays, we are so excited(and grateful)!!
Kind of worried my Amazon order may get cancelled. Earlier this year a bunch of BotW Special/Master Editions got cancelled.

GAF probably believes the friend is legit but TheFuzz and his wife will scalp it.If GAF is to be believed, your friend isn't actually going to give it to you and your wife - since people don't actually do things like that for other people; she's just going to scalp it.

Did they send you a follow up email? They sent one to me and many others the other day saying it wasn't canceled but that they had to change the expected date.
That bites... Hopefully there'll be more for grabs in the future...just be on your toes.My Walmart order got cancelled
Is it just me or does the controller cord length seem a lot longer? I hope so!Nice impressions video by the way: https://youtu.be/tVc-jfxraDE

I don't actually feel any nostalgia for the SNES, having never owned one, but I don't know why seeing this shot of the box at the end of an Engadget video almost brought me to tears:
That logo is so freakin iconic.
