I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist over the past few weeks, just to see what kind of stuff shows up there. Its a pretty rough market, thats for sure. More than half of the SNES postings I see are from collectors who list out there carts w/ grading levels (some official!). I guess times have changed. I am still going to hunt around the few thrift shops near me as I live in a major metropolitan area, I will just hope for the best!

SNES is pretty rough. I think it commands the highest price relative to its popularity. Too many games that breach the over original MSRP barrier, and even many fairly common games can run you $30-$40 cart only.

So this will be your first time, ever? :O

Yeh. Mega Drive reigned supreme here, I didn't even know anybody with a SNES. I bought a PAL copy a few years back but the day me and my brother played it (and got pretty far) he had a kinda seizure and had to go to hospital. We didn't want to risk continuing in case old flashy games caused it (it didn't, but still).

I have it on GBA but it's just not the same. Now I get 60Hz RGB goodness to play it on too!

For me, US prices aren't too bad yet in most cases. I just saw an auction for a PAL cart of Super Metroid end at 570 SEK ($90)... It's getting fucking crazy over here.

So I just got one of the SFC games I ordered awhile ago. I've been going around snagging SFC exclusive RPGs that have translations in order to get them...well translated on the cart.

Thing is, this one came with a Japanese Kit Kat. I'm not sure where to go from there.

this is a thing?

I'd rather pay $10 for a boxed FFVI than a $60 FFIII ; _ ;

Yup the $25 dollar repro people at Nintendoage (as well as ocdreproductions and nesreproductions.com do it (its essentially the same thing as getting a repro cart, except you keep the original cartridge and label art). Of course (as it should be) they only translate carts that aren't available as domestic releases, or are drastically different.

So yeah, FFIV (hard mode) and VI ( i forget the differences) count. Plus alot of the time SFC carts and boxes just have cooler art.

Today, I'm seeing N64 games reaching to the high price point SNES games were back around 2006/2007. Doesn't surprise me that SNES games today are getting more expensive.

and yes, PAL/Europe retro games can get quite pricey. A lot of boxed complete games can easily go over £50 ($80) on ebay.

Just found out a lot of my old snes games go for quite a bit on ebay UK. The only game I have a box and manual for is Super Castlevania.

The games I've still got:

Super Castlevania IV
Super Metroid
Yoshis Island
Terranigma
Super Probotector (Contra 3)

Thinking should I sell up.

I have a copy of Harvest Moon that I had no idea about. I cant believe how much that game isworth. I dont plan on selling it but still nice knowing that it's of value.

If you want to look at a video of a bunch of SNES brochures. Time capsule stuff.

That's some seriously awesome brochure porn. Great, more stuff to add to my list of things to collect.

The related videos youtube recommended after watching that, if you have not seen them already, are also worth a watch:

Kiosk porn:

That Dr Phlox... EEPROM:

Skip to 6:45 for all the mint games and systems behind the counter... omg.

what do you have, what do you like, and what's your price range?

I have around 80 games, so I don't have them memorized and I'm at work, but if it's a common game I most likely have it (e.g. most Nintendo first party output) I think my "rarest" games are Dracula X, Earthbound and Mega Man 7.

I don't have a price range, I'm open for all suggestions, including Japanese only titles with English translation.

Edit: I know I have a list of my games somewhere, so I'll try to look for it, but feel free to throw any suggestions :)

Since you've probably exhausted all the English language games I gotta give a shout out to Shin Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun Kunio Tachi No Banka. Great Beltscroll style action game I don't see mentioned enough.

So I just traded for a damaged copy of Turtles in Time. Didn't give up much for it but the guy says it doesn't load up. He hasn't opened the case, I'm hoping it just needs a good cleaning or the chip needs reseating. Anyone have experience with damaged carts? I figure even if it's borked I'm only out about $10 including the security bits from amazon.

Depends on how badly it's been damaged. If it's been thrown or dropped badly, the PCB could be physically broken or the ROM might have been knocked out of place.

Not Plok.

maybe Plok? do you have Ninja Warriors? that one's awesome

No Plok LOL. I could have sworn I had Ninja Warriors but it turns out that I don't. I'll look into snagging a copy.

Thanks. I'll check this one out. Hoping prices aren't too crazy.

Got some SFC games in the mail today. Typical that I also had surgery on my left thumb today to remove some cartilage or something that had started to grow there. So there won't be much playing for me for a while.

The games were Super Puyo Puyo Tsu Remix and Super Bombliss. Both CIB, although the box and manual for Puyu Puyo is from the non-Remix version.
