So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

No cancellation of my Walmart order as of yet. Still shows processing. If it does not show shipped by tomorrow then I am pretty certain it will be canceled. Fingers crossed!

Maybe have a second shipment ready to go once the initial launch stock sitting in stores for weeks inevitably sold out on day 1? I dunno.

Sony's PS4 launch is the gold standard for hardware. Nintendo should have taken notes.
It was an absolute shitshow in europe, you couldn't find one in stores for literally the first 4-6 months.

It wasn't even rusted iron standard.

I know its an experiences may very type of thing, so those saying Playstation and Microsoft goes through this to, I believe it.

But based off my experiences living in Cincy...

Got a PS4 at launch, saw more through the first week.
Got a PS4 Pro at launch, saw more through the first week.
Same goes for PSVR, XBox One and XBox One S.

If it wasnt for having online access, I wouldnt be able to tell you Nintendo was even in the console game anymore.

Again, Im sure different areas are indeed different. But here, in this particular regard, based off my experiences, Nintendo has no clue what its doing in regards to production, and seemingly doesnt have interest in learning.

Anyways, saw a Pro Controller on Prime Now, in stock, today! That was a first!

The funny thing is, in Finland all of the bigger shops around me have always had 1-20 Switches on the shelves. Guess Finland is not that big of a Nintendo country.

The shop in the first picture actually has more on the shelves to the right. Like a lot more.

Have they restocked any 3DS systems yet? I remember there being stock issues with those too.

You can get one on BestBuy or gamestop online but retail stores have little to no stock. Target in my area randomly gets 1-2 every few weeks.

Amazon gets units about once a month which sell out in five minutes or so. Really limited stock.

Here in italy is the same, i can go in any shop and buy zelda a pro controller and a switch neo with any problem.

I hear it's the same in Mexico, but they are crazy expensive down there.

Not particularly, there is stock, the price is making it impossible for them to sell out, but they are slowly dissapearing from stores.
Amazon MX has no stock i believe

Still not as crazy as ps3 or ps4 release price
(Reaching 5 digit prices... and the MXN wasn't THAT devaluated back then)

Fun fact: best buy mx has stock for galaxy n3dsxl, which apparently is crazy weird in the US

Some stores...like walmart in some far away regions were selling the console at 330 usd max, but it was a weird case.

What were they going to do, up production on the 4th and have them selling today?

It's the exact same scenario that Black Friday N3DS and NESmini had.

Be more transparent with retailers about second shipments, actually have second shipments available in a timely matter, etc... even 3DS are completely out of stock. The Nintendo hardware section looks like a barren wasteland As far as shelf space is concerned. They're way too conservative with their estimates consistently.

This is why you wait, folks :(

I've seen them at every Target, Bestbuy and Walmart here in Florida.

Last night on Boogie2988's stream there was someone asking repeatedly - and sounding genuine - if they should pay $430 for a Switch resale. Should you pay more then MSRP of a product that will be in stores most likely sooner than later?

The worst part isn't that you're paying over MSRP : You support resalers.

It's your money blah blah blah, but fuck that annoys me with concert tickets, people actively supporting this garbage.

I just want to know why I don't have the option to pre-order one on Amazon for MSRP, rather than only having the option to buy from scalpers. Like, Amazon.es has the option, so why can't I do it on Amazon.com? Am I just missing something?

What a pain...

My guess would be they have zero idea when they will get more in stock (and how many). Didn't they already have an issue of not fulfilling pre-orders for launch?

I swallowed the scalper bullet and paid $380. Really only a $50 mark up when you factor in tax.

Seems like ninty could have sold 750k in the states if they had more produced

No judgement from me. You paid more to get something early (I mean, realistically). Nothing wrong in my mind if people are willing to pay a premium for something. If my Walmart order falls through I will be tempted again for sure haha.

So,

Amazon didn't ship the copy of Zelda I ordered Friday till today, even though I had one day shipping.

So I attempted to get a refund of the shipping cost and the representitive offered me a $5 credit, which I wasn't going to complain about but I still did want the shipping refunded.

He said that would be fine and they would make an exception and refund me the shipping.

Then I get this lovely e-mail from Amazon.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the problem you've had with your The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch.

On this occasion, we don't require you to return the original. You're welcome to keep, donate or dispose of it - whichever option is most appropriate and convenient for you.

I've requested a refund for 56.79 USD, which includes the cost of the item and its associated shipping costs. This refund will go through within the next 3-5 business days and will appear as a credit on your billing statement. Please note that this does not include your bank's processing time.

So,

I just got BoTW for free.

Edit:

My Switch Doesn't even come in till tomorrow so this works out perfectly.

Something like this happened to my dad with some speakers he ordered. He immediately opened up a credit card with them and now buys everything from Amazon. Customer for life haha.

This is what I want.

Just send it to me when you have one in one week or 6.

I don't want to screw around hoping I happen to see the gaf post that amazon has them back but miss after 10 minutes or have to get yelled at for asking someone at the store.

Man I can't find a switch in North Florida for under $425, if anyone has an extra or could help me out, I would really be appreciative.....I've got a 5 year old that is freaking out about not having one, lol. I could see paying $350-375, but c'mon it is ridiculous with the scalpers.

a new shipment is set to drop soon. Target might have some as soon as next week.

Spanish Switch update:

Mine has arrived in Detroit, my city.
It'll be delivering tomorrow!

I got mine for normal price by importing from Amazon Spain. You don't have to pay extra, it is no different than an American system, and it ships in reasonable time (a week for me).

My Switch departed from San Jose a couple hours ago, I am about 30 minutes from there.

Should be getting it tomorrow! Zelda as well.

Where in Florida? I live in South Florida and have been looking for one the past few days with no luck. If you've seen them let me know so I can go grab one. PM would be preferable so lurkers don't beat me to it lol.

Really wish I didn't cancel my Amazon and Best Buy preorders. I was so hot and cold on this thing, but now I'm hot on it and I haven't seen one in stores since last Sunday.

Have yet to see a single unit in a store. Hell the only pro controller I have seen was the one I had to drive a town over to buy. I have yet to see any travel cases even. The ONLY thing I see in stock is the grey joy cons, games and the rubber skins/condoms.

Really did not anticpate this kinda demand (or I would have pre-order all my accesories)

Do you have the link?

Looks like they're out again, but you can still order it for the current price and they'll send it when it's available.

Awesome! I can't wait. Tomorrow shall be a glorious day.
Glad I impulse bought it. Very thankful for this useful thread.
This is almost exactly how I got my PS4 a few years back, which got me back into gaming.
No plannig. Just someone saying "you can get this sold out system at this website" and me taking the leap.

Its a battle of the GTX 1080 Ti and the Switch for me... whichever one comes into stock first I'm making that my big video game purchase of 2017.

Unsure if this was posted already, but per Reddit (via GoNintendo):

As a target employee in Southern California, we got some info from corporate today on when and how many switches we'll be getting.

We got some info in a corporate email today that says to expect the next allocation of Nintendo switches to arrive between march 19-25 and to expect 10-12 units per store on average.

Take that as you will, even though it lays out some idea of what to expect, it still sounds a little broad. We should be able to see in our system when they are on their way and what day to expect them as they get closer to shipping out to our stores.

There's a Target on my route to work that I've been stopping at M/W/F right at 8am when they open. It happens that I pass right by it right then anyway. They tell me that's when it's the best time to show up because the trucks come in those mornings before they open.

I have my Zoolert alert set up. Hopefully I can get a Switch today online. I gave up on trying to find one physically in NYC, so online is my only option then.

Now I'm debating whether to get Neon or Gray. Gray looks ok, altho a bit boring. Neon looks a bit more childish but looks prettier. Dunno, what you guys/gals think?

Whatever one comes up when I get an alert. If I really care about having gray or neon I'll buy the controllers

Seems like online has been less frequent than in store.
